Signed for 650k. Speed on the wing and had a scoring touch before things went completely off the rails in Buffalo.

Think of it as insurance policy if the kids aren't ready.

Ennis is an awesome guy, I hope he can start to get his game back this year. It's probably his last chance.

Will vengeful Paul Fenton offer sheet Matthews or Marner?

If one of them signs the offer sheet, Toronto will match. I think Toronto wants to sign them both, but they may hold off a year.

My guess is that they sign them both this summer.

This, exactly. Depth signing and not bad at all. Guy can play some and contribute on the 4th line. Injuries can and do happen so a bit more depth cheap is never a bad thing either.

gotta differ here... complete and total waste of a roster spot in my opinion.

can't imagine he'd be happy playing for the Marlies... would rather have resigned Komarov for 2M (if he would have gone for that).

Ennis is signed for 650k for one year compared to Komarov getting 12 million over 4 years.

Komarov wasn't coming back for 2 million for one season, and I doubt the leafs would be willing to commit 4 year to a guy who is already showing sign of decline.

Ennis brings nothing to the table, that they don't already have in spades, and the thought of one of the young guys not playing for Ennis as a "veteran presence" would be just stupid.

Take the CAP dump of Sobotka or Berglund - either of which brings a dimension that Ennis simply does not have.

This point exactly. Ennis offers nothing that a young up and comer or even bubble guy can't already offer. Every so often he has a moment of brilliance on the ice but this happens with great rarity and usually never ends up with the puck in the net. Against physical teams he's easily squashed like a bug and turns into a puck ATM. Was so happy Fenton bought him out.

Was very exciting to watch before concussions crushed his career. Exemplifies the long term effect of multiple concussions . Concussions never really go
away and the results of multiple concussions simply compound on each other.
People who are on the Skinner band wagon beware , He is one good hit away from suffering the same fate even if he has not had one in a few years. They are still there . Damn shame Ennis was like a water bug and fun to watch before the concussions started catching up with him.

Good take. Still I wouldn't put Skinner in the same boat as Ennis. Ennis never had that skill or that skating to back up his slower decision making skills post-concussion. I still hope my little Enzo does well, he's a good kid. I'd root for him even on the Leafs, still glad to have Scandella instead though.
