What does this list mean? Trade targets for the Hawks, possible part of a 3 way trade involving TB and OTT?

IMO ex USHL Waterloo Blackawks Dman Brandon Manning will be a fixture in ANA for a long while and take over #1 PP duty next yr. Kid was dynamite as a rookie putting up 32 points, a +16, averaged 2:25 on the PP on 160 shots. Check out how the pure rookie was used in the 4 playoff games vs SJ:

28:32, 24:08, 26:46 and 24:01. With big minutes on the PP, 5:00 in one game and over 3:00 in two others along with big PK minutes too. Kid is a player, a player who can be, and was as a pure rookie, used in all situations. USHL!!

Coupled with the train wreck the position was last yr, agreed that's the reason they wanted Ward, plus the fact he'd sign for 1 yr.

And besides the privacy laws pertaining to your employee, an employer in our free market system does not willingly degrade, devalue or denounce an employee whom has value to the team whenever he plays again. Or the team decides to trade him, you do not try to knock down the value of your employee.

I did not initially see the extent of the law and then responsibility on the team. Now I get it and really you do not want other teams to know if your employee has a drinking, drugs, partying problem. Also which may be a good guess, but which we can not say we know is actually truthful.

Might be that the player thought he had this issue(s) under control. It is different if the player is forthright and talks about any issues. It is different if the player later on ran for political office. But he is a public figure, yet he retains certain rights and an employer needs to respect rights. Rights of an entertainer is not same as politician seeking office (who would represent you). Maybe a successful lawyer who often wins his cases, cannot get over freedom of information which he is NA this CC situation. Cannot subvert the system, Z3

Anyway, perhaps after CC returns and played well enough, then he might acknowledge he overdid celebrating or partying and regrets it in hindsight.

Yes sir, Wise has to be a chance to be in the steal of the draft conversation. Yes, he had a poor yr as a 16 yr old, trained hard for his 17 yr old yr and got hurt in Game 1 IIRC. Rehabbed like a maniac, came back midseason and was very good. That's why he fell to the Hawks in the 3rd rd.

His teammates and coaches gush about the kid both on and off the ice. Plus I'd add the kid plays with jam with a ++ work ethic. I agree probably a 3C floor and 2C ceiling.

I always figure it this way. In a country of 330 million we have one national team that plays together all yr, the NTDP. There are only 25 roster spots for the 16 yr old team and 25 for the 17 yr old team. Any kid who came thru the program, as Wise/Hayden/Louis/Barratt have, were for those 2 yrs pretty much the very best this country had to offer. Not all, some go to Major Junior or just play in the USHL for different reasons but for the most part those kids are the tip of the pyramid.

Wise is a skilled player with a lot of intangibles.

I know the HAWKS have not done much this offseason .I am really kind of glad for that . Last season may have just been the perfect storm ,and no sense going all bananas . Might as well see how Crow is ,how the core rebounds .

I could see the HAWKS taking a run at Rick Nash after the season starts with the Hossa money if Nash decides he is not retiring. Maybe Letestu also if they have any doubt about any of the young players .

All will be fine GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know all the laws either but I do know physicians can't make private records public due to HIPPA guidelines and depending on the situation, I'm guessing corporate entities have some restrictions in that regard as well when it pertains to one of their employees, even their more public ones.

My daughter has the same physician — a kidney specialist — as the son of one of my best friends at work. When I recently mentioned this fact to the doctor during my daughter’s last exam, the physician — normally a very jovial and pleasant fellow — replies very curtly “I can’t comment on that.” Several weeks later my friend got the same response when he made a similar comment during his son’s visit.

I think professional athletes and their teams are is a bit of a grey area. I think they fall back on the “upper body”, “lower body” mentality to deal with injuries when it is apparent a player was injured during the course of a game or practice. To disclose any type of long-term injury suffered outside the scope of employment or substance abuse or mental health or disease is a line they aren’t allowed to cross. If the player agrees to disclosure, then and only then could the team disclose it.

Breadman didn't sign with Columbus when he left the KHL, and he didn't have any choice in being traded to the Jackets. He doesn't owe them, nor the fans, anything other than his best efforts on the ice, which he has always given. Like any pro athlete, his career is short and he should take care of himself and his family first and foremost. If you've read about the hardships he went through growing up in Siberia, you might conclude that this applied to him even more than most. So get off his case.

Wow.

Gotta admit thats a solid piece from Mark Lazarus. He is usually such a good for nothing liberal double talking hacktivist. That piece was really well put together. I think a lot of excellent Hawks observers feel the way that piece reads. Good for him.

So who takes the fall first? The traditional fire the coach give Bowman his own choice or is Bowman and Q going to be fired together?

I think Bowman is a hell of a GM but hes made some fatal mistakes : Misjudging how much the cap will incrase from 2010-2015.

The no need to do it Seabrook deal.

All the motherr(frank)in No Trade Clauses.

Two 2nd rounder for Kimo T ?

Thinking hed have Hossas deal moved befoe 7/1.

Damn this is going to be a tough year.

I get the Hippa concerns and respect a players right to privacy. Why is it that the NFL seems to release much more information about injuries. It seemed like we were getting up to the minute information when Bears TE Zach Miller suffered that horrific knee injury to the point where we knew he was in danger of loosing his leg yet in the NHL all we get is upper and lower body injury and the player is day to day. Is the NFL more forthcoming with injury information because of gambling?

This is from the medical disclosure section of the CBA.

(ii) Except with respect to uses, disclosures and redisclosures of Medical
Information that are permitted under the CBA, the SPC, and the
Authorizations, the Clubs, the NHLPA and the League shall not use,
disclose or redisclose any Medical Information relating to a Player (unless
stripped of all individual Player-identifying information) without the
express, prior, written consent of the Player or as required by law

There are some sections in that same area of the CBA that make it sound like they CAN disclose some information to a certain extent. Maybe someone else has a better understanding of legal documents and knows for sure?

I warned you all about playing nice on the boards here however I continued to be disappointed the lack of respect by some posters here.

It's HOCKEY and we can all have an opinion, and even having a spirited debate, all while being respectful at the same time. This is something I am teaching my 3 year old.

I just received a note from the mods. More bans will be coming.

AGREED.

Defenseman-wise, I think the 'Hawks organizationally are doing great. Somewhere in the plethora of draftings and free-agent signings, a new core top 4 will emerge. It will be a joy to watch develop!
It would be even better if it is done quickly enough to where the old core is able to enjoy more Cups as elder skatesmen.

Sorry for my lack of clarity-
these player all are going to arbitration, as Friday they all had their agents apply for an outside negotiator to hear their casa on what they salary should be...after they turned down the teams bump up, whether it be the NHL-NHLPA agreed invrease or a $ number they didn't like..

Thanks for the kind words..... Indeed, the numbers listed are Brandon Montours'. Fun player to watch in the USHL, love his path as a Canadian kid who took the NCAA route (although only played 21 games in college), allowed to develop in the AHL and hit the ground running in the NHL as a 24 yr old. https://www.eliteprospect...yer/97957/brandon-montour

The Ducks being deep on the blueline allowed him an extra yr or two developing. Not easy to do anymore in a hard cap world.

Justin if you were the gm right now what kind of trades and moves would you make?

Not what you think Bowman and company will do but what you would do if you were running the show. Just want your direct and best ideas no beating around the bush or towing the company line be arm chair gm and give best trades or moves that will help the hawks short term and long term. Have little fun with this!

I’m not a Justin - and I don’t play one on TV - but I’ll arrogantly chime in:

If there are no short term moves that could make this team a Cup contender - anything more than a playoff-contender and probable first round out at best - then any moves should be made with longer-term (two years out plus) success in mind.

I second this, Blackhawks imho are not one or two or even three pieces away from competing for the SC. If it were me, i would try to use Hossa's LTIR as an asset and a time line so when his contract expires you're building towards something instead of hanging on to it.
