Jack Hughes baby!

Centre depth in a few years:

Hughes
Kotkatniemi
Poehling
Danault

LOSE FOR HUGHES!

- Scabeh

You never know with the ping-pong balls, but Sen are looking good for the basement. Sakic has already made plans to make other basement teams stronger to insure a last place finish for the Sens.

I pray to god the ping ball falls 'their' way

That would just be glorious.

Glorious indeed.

I hope it's Dorion standing there like an idiot losing his pick live on TV.

NO NO.

Watching the Sens suffer is not better than seeing the Habs win.

And Spatso is there as the little kid in the Sens jersey and draft hat.

You do know that finishing last doesn't guarantee winning the Lottery.

Well I don't have your experience in losing but i'll take your word for it.

Here's to hoping!

Sometimes, I think as a Leaf fan, I am spoiled for all that we have now... Then I read posts like this and I gotta admit, I miss the days when Leaf fans were delusional..

During the tough years, were we as Leafs fan as delusional as sens fans are with the prospects of Karlsson being traded?
- Aaron_85

Probably.

For christ sakes people thought Frattin was awesome.

Losing O'Reilly will hurt them, no?
- Hockey_Reverend

No I don't think so. Buffalo got a good return. O'Reilly is good, but they are making room for Middlestadt who has far more upside than O'Reilly. Buffalo didn't want $7.5 m tied up in O'Reilly for five more years when they know that Eichel, Middlestadt and Dahlin will all be top tier earners in the short run.

Not even close, you haven't been bad for 14 consecutive years yet. We've now just fully recovered from the JFJ era..

This is considered a great deal...

"To Vegas

F Bobby Ryan
D Erik Karlsson (8 years 11.25m)
F Zach Smith

To Ottawa

F William Karlsson
F Nick Suzuki
D Shea Theodore
D Erik Brannstrom
2019 1st (top 5 protected - becomes 2020 1st + 2020 2nd)"

- Aaron_85

And sens fans could keep their Karlsson jersey.

Delusional? Absolutely not.. Just watch out for our team when Kucherov and Hedman are traded here....

Berglund and Sobotka make 7.8 combined each year for the next 3 or 4. I do believe you're right that at least they can dump those a little easier than 7.5 in a single player.

As well, I think Buffalo did okay on the trade.

Does the money matter much to Buffalo? I don't know anything about their financials.

I would think one gets moved this summer, Sobotka makes $3.5 for only two more years. Easy to move a 3rd line centre with that contract. I can think of at least a couple of teams looking for help at centre. Especially if teh Bozek can make $5 m for 3 years.

Matters alot. Rich owner (Terry Pegula - I call him Fungula for fun), team ranks 28th in net worth. Really easy to get tickets to any game. Leaf fans can enjoy a limo ride to the Buffalo arena from TO, primo seats and a nice meal for less than what a pair of mediocre seats sell for on the secondary maket in TO.

I think he was still injured and not ready...he was never a scoring beast..had some bad luck a couple years and is still great defensively...we didn't win anything when we replaced him unfortunatlely.
- Garnie

I don't think (personally) that his lack of scoring was an issue... except that Bablord continued to put him on the PP.... he wasn't really there for that.

Biggest concern from my perspective was his declining skating, pace and his declining aggressiveness... just not as many impactful hits... forechecking really dropped off.

I loved the guy... but I think he was simply worn out. Sad to see him... just like Bozak IF he would have considered signing for cheap then maybe.

But I don't blame those guys ... they need to maximize their income while they can. Good for all of JvR, Bozak and Komagod. I hope they will always be thought of fondly in Toronto - warts and all.

LEafs should be interested in either of those guys - Sobotka can really skate and Berglund could play center or wing... both versatile players with jam.
