He didn't seem too happy the last time Tampa did that.

He'll be even more unhappy if it happens again. Who cares - (frank) Tampa.

During the tough years, were we as Leafs fan as delusional as sens fans are with the prospects of Karlsson being traded?

he makes 6.5m this year. easy enough this year.

would almost certainly mean gardiner (or ideally zaitsev) and nylander would be out next year (or earlier).

i'm not expecting it. seems pretty unlikely.

- Tumbleweed

Forget Gardiner and Zaitsev... Leafs wouldn't be able to keep their 3 young guys up front on new deals.

Kucherov is one of the best players in the world. Better than Stamkos imo. I think he'll be getting 8 years for sure.

If leafs go with no captain do they go with Matthews and Tavares with the A’s? They lost komarov and bozak who I think were wearing them last year. Along with Rielly.

Karlsson for Killorn, Foote, Cirelli, 1st 2020, 1st 2021

Ottawa gets a first and a topish prospect (would be their new best defense prospect)
A middle-6 winger locked up for a long time that can't escape the wreckage
A solid young forward with upside.

Next season pay somebody to take Callahan off your hands. Let Girardi, Coburn and Stralman walk.

Gives them 17mil. 4.5 going to Karlsson (6.5 to 11) and 5.3 going to Kucherov (4.66 to 10), potentially 3 to Gourde (1 to 4) if he keeps that up he'll deserve more, 5.2 to Point (800k to 6)

-1mil to fill 2 defense slots (Sergachev still on ELC)

Doesn't seem likely for Tampa

- AdamFrench
Yzerman would have to pull a magician, pulling a rabbit out of his ass, out of his own ass to make that work.

Love listening to TSN Montreal radio. It is awesome. All about the Habs and they are not happy with anything...

Talking Shea Weber right now. He is under contract for another 8 YEARS...!

I saw something on Twitter, it said Dorion would trade Karlsson to the Leafs for a package including Nylander, Liljegren and picks..

I would actually be very interested to see if there is a policy for "Nobody makes more than Stamkos."

Kucherov is only an RFA and can be bridged for at least one more year. Callahan and Tyler Johnson plus any increase in cap space could be used to fit Kucherov after that. If not, think of how much Tampa would get in asset trading Kucherov.
- winsix

There is no way in holy hell they are giving Kucherov a 1 year deal with the ability to walk at the end of it.

It could work if Dorion is dumber than we think..

Karlsson for Callahan, Stralman and Palat.

I really hope this doesn't happen, because it would suck..

Pierre on the radio said he wouldn't make a

Karlsson for Nylander, Lillybust and additional picks.

(frank) if I'm the Sens I do that all day long. A legitimate young top-6 forward who is an RFA that you can control for several years. A guy who would enter as their top defense prospect and some picks. Not sure what more you can get.

First, Zaitsev is locked up, Gardiner would stay long term on a team friendly deal for sure, but with Liljegren, Sandin and possibly Rasanen on the way to the big club, it might be time to cut bait after this season with Gardiner. Such are the problems of a team that is well run. Must bug the sh!t out of Habs fans. In case you didn't notice, the Leafs farm team won the Calder Cup. So the cupboards are not bare.

Johnson and Callahan both have NTC or modified versions. Doesn't mean it's easy to move and I'd hope other GMs aren't just taking Callahan as a dump to help Tampa. Yzerman would likely have to pay a prospect or pick to move the contract.

Karlsson really starts eating up depth either way. (Which to be fair I'd be happier trying to find a way to fit Karlsson on my team than hoping for a decent return as a sens fan)

Killorn has a NTC. So many variables for Tampa to overcome. Who is waiving to goto Ottawa from Tampa?

Leafs would not do that deal, and Sens will not get that kind of return. The proposal you mentioned is generous and realistic. They will get less if they fish-in Vegas to take that brutal Bobby Ryan contract.

That would be a bit of an overpay. If big if, that was offered, I can't see Dorion saying no to that.

Vasilevsky is an RFA in two years too. If he keeps up his play he'll want more than 3.5 mil

It would be an overpay which hurts us, bigly..

I'd guess Dorion turns that offer down and trades Karlsson to Colorado for their own 1st rd pick back..

Karlsson for Soderberg, Erik Johnson and their 1st rd pick back..

Damn... him being out really hurts us... he's the missing piece to the puzzle this year.

In case you havn't figured it out... they are going to tank and be one of the worst in the league along with the Sens. Any Hab fan saying otherwise is delusional. kinda how the Leafs got back to being relevant in the NHL by tanking a few years n a row... MTL is doing the same.
I'm fine with Shea being out... we are a good shot at 31st.

Yes, you are right on that point!

Seriously, this is teh best thing for the habs. They need to bottom out like the Leafs did. Just wondering if they need to move Price now while he has good value?

I have a feeling that this year the Leafs will beat their point total from last year. Ottawa, Montreal, Buffalo, Detroit will all be easy pickings?
