Scotty Bowman's son has shown time and time again that he possesses absolutely ZERO negotiating ability. Inflated cap hits WITH no trade clauses, like a record stuck on repeat with this guy who is only in his job due to nepotism. Rocky should've sent Stanely Bowman back to Notre Dame to teach freshman year finance classes.

I spoke with Brandon Manning's uncle yesterday and Brandon is super stoked about joining the Hawks. He is one of those players that will stick up for his teammates and will grind it out with anyone, regardless of size. He is one tough kid. And that is something we've been sorely lacking on our backend. I am excited to see what he brings to the Hawks. In my opinion this could be a solid pickup. A decent 5/6 D-man with grit and toughness.
He is attending Claude Giroux's wedding this week, and then heads to Chicago to find a place to live.

Not a lot of activity from Stan so just a thought on the sens/tb 3way on how Chicago can get involved (excluding who moves between tb and ottawa)

Hawks send Hossa, Forsling, Murphy to Sens for Ryan and Logan Brown

Hawks send Ruuta and Krys to TB for Stalman

Hawks then sign Letestu for one year/650k

Saad-Toews-Ryan
Debrincat-Schmaltz-Kane
Kunitz-Anisimov-Hinostroza
Hayden-Letestu-Sikura

Keith-Stalman
Gus-Seabrook
Manning-Rutta

Cap hits about even out

LOL thanks for the mandate. Haven't heard any "insider info" from you lately LMAO I can't wait for the next "scoop" you pull out your rear end. While I post on a variety of subjects, literally every single post you make is this exact same format.... Excessive emojis, exclamation points, and the text is bashing another poster. Pot, meet kettle.

You are trading Ruuta but also have in in 3rd pairing.

D would still scare me.

Might Hayden be better on 3rd line? Hino's speed seems wasted on that line.

I know his uncle. His uncle is a really cool guy.
Salt of the earth. We work for the same company even though I am now in Ontario and he is in Prince George. We spoke yesterday and he had just had lunch with his nephew Brandon in Prince George. He told me how thrilled he was to sign with the Hawks. Apparently he got a healthy signing bonus, too. I have never met Brandon myself. His uncle said Brandon is now living the life of a rock star. LoL!! Flying from Prince George to Philly to attend the wedding and pack up his things and then off to Chicago. He stopped at his uncle's shop to sign some gear for a few folks.

From the Scores Matisz Twitter @MatiszJohn
Blackhawks first-rounder Adam Boqvist is leaving the SHL for the OHL’s London Knights, according to a source.

And Ryan Pyette verified twitter
Man, the Knights could have quite a defence if everything works out this fall. Sources say they're signing Blackhawks first rounder Adam Boqvist today.

- Marlowe

Another fail by Bowman. Why would the team put their top euro-smurf prospect in the Canadian goon league? The kid will be lucky to ever play an NHL game now.

You know what, I think I like this. Yes he would have played against men in Sveden but this way he gets to play on the smaller surface and begin to acclimate to NA. And London is a powerhouse, in fact he will take a pay cut when he leaves to play in the NHL on an ELC.

I don't waste what I hear from people that know considerably more than you on the posters here anymore. I do private message John on what I hear - and unlike the pavement knuckle scratchers on this site - he actually appreciates it.

You and some of the other posters here seem to enjoy creating your own narratives, and repeat it daily - hoping that the effort makes it true - then pat each other on the back. It has become almost comedic. Almost.....

Stone is 4 years older than Schmaltz and 6 years older than Debrincat, so that's something you have to consider. Also, Stone just filed for arbitration and he can now use E.Kane as a market value comparable for the high end.

I'm personally not attached to Murphy beyond I don't want him thrown away. If he + something was used to secure a different cost certain top 4 RD or a good center of some sort, I'd be down.

- L_B_R

Its that i don't like smaltz or dcat i just like stone more hawks are not getting stone. I said only trading for a 2nd line center you make good point rd also.

Yes you did and I meant to ask you about it as well. You posted at least a week ago, no? Good scoop.

What I'm wondering is how he can get out of his pro contact in Sveden to play jrs in NA? Assume he's being loaned to London as the Hunter's slide a 100-150k to his pro club?

Not knowing much about the lower levels, is the OHL any more physical than the SHL an other Euro leagues. I'm just wondering what the idea is of sending him to the OHL vs staying in the SHL.
- Chunk

I'd guess the OHL is probably more physical especially cuz they play on a smaller surface in NA.

No doubt the OHL is the very best jr league in the world.

That is great news .London is a breading ground for great players ,and the Hunters show the players how to be real pros .. And I can go see him at my local arena

As I mentioned earlier in the week, Blackhawks were reviewing options Adam Boqvist for next season. Looks like he's London Knights / OHL bound.

Will be nice to get to see him live. London is only a couple hours away and I have 4-5 other visiting teams within range if I want to see him on the road.

- Justin Lowe

I'm jealous!! Closest the OHL was to us was Plymouth, MI and they moved that club and were replaced by the US NTDP. Now it's up to Flint or over the border to Windsor to get to the OHL.

Excellent Justin, as we know, there is no replacement for seeing the boys live, especially if you are fortunate enough to be at ice-level. You can really get a handle on skating ability, vision, etc. Looking forward to these updates (Duff's too hopefully).

The OHL televise alot of their games and the quality is top notch in numerous rinks and London is top of the list.I would expect to see some links shared here come hockey season. I am half an hour away.

Let's suppose that the Hawks are a bubble team by next year's Trade Deadline. Jokiharju gets his 9 games and sent down, Boqvist stays in London all year, Hillman/Gilbert/others stay in AHL to marinate longer, Forsling gets 60 games or so...

Gustafsson, Ruutta, and Murphy might fetch a decent return at the deadline. Do you hold onto them hoping for magic in the playoffs? Or do you sell for more picks and prospects to stick with the retool?

I must say it does feel really nice to have a few layers of defensive prospects, some might even call it a logjam. I didn't even mention Snuggerud, Krys, Beaudien.

- ObeseOprah

Yea man, to all of this!! Stack up those prospects, be patient with them and deal from strength! Best way to build.

Yes they do and a lot of OHL games are produced like an NHL game. Multiple cameras/angles, replays, 2 announcer booths, graphics. Even the lil ole USHL has productions like that in 5-6 arenas.

Do you buy the OHL package?

It's just a good move for a lot of reasons. If all goes well this yr he can move to the AHL the following season after having 80-90 games on a smaller surface and been in NA for a yr to acclimate off the ice as well. .

In order for the Blackhawks to even reach the .500 mark, there needs to be more than just bounce back seasons. And I reserve a full court press on whether bounce back seasons is possible - it is always nice to possess a positive attitude and really we just wait to perhaps be somewhat surprised what performance level is attainable

We would be remiss, however, to expect any sustained success without SOME physical play from one of the top two lines and a second dman.

You might see all the meaness, hard checks and grit from two dmen as the roster sits today. I do not see a presiquite willingness or history from even two of three on a top two line. Without one of two top offensive lines it isn't going to be enough if you did get physical play in spades from a third and even a fourth line.

Your top six offensive players are going to have plenty of TOI. I wish there was statistical proof or someone can find winning teams whom outplayed their opponent AND they had enough toughness, willingness + grit within those two top lines.

JONATHAN TOEWS is done being Johnny b. Good and while possibly a borderline too player occasionally, be is never going to be that physical force he once was. He was the Ever ready bunny whose battery could not fully recharge. I personally believe he has concussion or bad back and shies away from the sort of player he once was....he has to...to remain healthy and play...and collect a nice pay check for a couple more seasons.

As the league becomes better from a quality and quality + quantity of whality players, so too the trend continues for more speed.

You can point to Tampa as lightweight and successful, at least last year. You may have stretches of winning hockey although lacking toughness and grit throughout a lineup. Once the playoffs begin you must have enough skill, speed and toughness. Without it sooner or later you will be humbled, humiliated, pushed around mercilessly like Nashville did to us. I

This is something Bowman has to address.

Never, not as long as Q is runnin the bench. All 4 lines must have speed and a threat to score and more than anything play a possession game. Top 3-4 team corsi and waaaaay out of the playoffs.

Speed/skill/possession wash, rinse, repeat.

The Athletic:

With a number of quality options available at No. 8 in the 2018 draft, the Blackhawks chose Boqvist because they believe the comparisons to Erik Karlsson aren’t that far off. The Blackhawks project Boqvist to be a game-changing offensive defenseman.

It’s not just them thinking that either. Sweden national coach Rikard Gronborg recently shared similar thoughts.

“To me, he’s an Erik Karlsson-type player,” Gronborg said after the draft. “Believe me, I don’t like comparing players because Adam Boqvist needs to be Adam Boqvist. But I see him with that ability to play up in the attack, the ability to step up on the blue line, the quote-unquote cockiness with the puck and that same swagger.”
