Man, the Knights could have quite a defence if everything works out this fall. Sources say they're signing Blackhawks first rounder Adam Boqvist today.

Not knowing much about the lower levels, is the OHL any more physical than the SHL an other Euro leagues. I'm just wondering what the idea is of sending him to the OHL vs staying in the SHL.

Yes they did, they won the first cup on the last year of their entry level contract.

The SIGNED their contracts (along with Keith) in December, 2009 - the season they won, but before the winning tournament.

I'll be interested to see if he takes another step forward. I kind of liked what he brought to the table, but he never seemed to have much control. I hope he does well, but you have to wonder how long Torts will be patient.

It'll get him used to NA ice size quicker, at the very least.

With this move Boqvist can learn to play in NA rink and play a lot key situations etc. Something that in SHL wasn´t probably going to happen. I say for his development this is a good thing.

He already signed his ELC, the Hawks are orchestrating this.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, Blackhawks were reviewing options Adam Boqvist for next season. Looks like he's London Knights / OHL bound.

Will be nice to get to see him live. London is only a couple hours away and I have 4-5 other visiting teams within range if I want to see him on the road.

The Hawks didn't seem too keen on his only 7+ mins / game when Boqvist made the jump to the NHL either.

StanBo handing out No Trade Clauses to guys who don't deserve them like Oprah

Also, I wouldn't do this unless I was confident in the person who told me....my buddy is a HS Hockey Coach in the Chicago Suburbs and he was talking to a notable Illinois suburban hockey family member that works in the organization currently about Crawford. My friend was told that Crawford was indeed in a substance abuse program for alcohol. Very unfortunate, and I'm sure most of us here have had a family member or friend battle addiction.

Hope Crawford gets healthy, but not a good sign for the morale/leadership of the team.

Is the OHL a higher level of play then where he was playing?

Scotty Bowman's son has shown time and time again that he possesses absolutely ZERO negotiating ability. Inflated cap hits WITH no trade clauses, like a record stuck on repeat with this guy who is only in his job due to nepotism. Rocky should've sent Stanely Bowman back to Notre Dame to teach freshman year finance classes.

Rink size and heavy usage will be good. The only thing I don't like is he'll be playing against kids his age, while in Sweden or the AHL he'd be playing against men. The Hawks love Hunter's system though (Kane) so this is probably the best fit possible.

No. He was playing in the SHL which is considered below the NHL and KHL, but playing in the SHL meant he was playing against men. The OHL is a Jr's league, the oldest players are 20. Boqvist is only 17. He will be able to come and get used to playing on the smaller ice surface as opposed to the 7+ minutes he was receiving on his SHL team. In the OHL he will play major minutes,
