He is a Habs, he is done. Seems like the modus operandi of a lot of people lately, the same that were crying for a rebuild. Go figure...
- Habsody

Saying he could be a very solid 2nd line C is not a diss on the guy! If he becomes more all the better, what I had said to bring this on is that they should be looking to add another C just to be safe and add depth and competition at the position

Don't worry, nothing on this site can upset me.

Good to hear!

My point is, add another C just like him

pretty sure LAK are still active on Pach, trying to ink a deal maybe ? 3 potential kids that can be involve i guess

Kempe C (I doubt)

Vilardi C

Kupari C (Who make the most sens here, Finlandais !)

if you are GM of the LAK, what are you offering for Pach ? let's have fun

- Zo0by

With 3 years left to his contract, the Kings can afford to wait for Vilardi to come in smoothly. They won’t trade him. Adrian Kempe, Muzzin + seem more likely.

I get that, but you just can’t rebuild with 23 young guns. Enough with the prospects, they need young NHL ready players

But wouldn't you say if they dared draft him at #3 that they project him to be a #1 centre in the NHL? Wouldn't that make sense?

I've only seen him at the world junior, in which he played well enough. So I don't see why you'd pencil him more as a #2 except being a grumpy smurf.

- Scabeh

They picked him 3rd because of the organizational need at the position, which is great but I'm just saying they shouldn't be thinking they're set down the middle

I agree, or close to ready... Guys like Vilardi, Glass, Frost, Norris... There's lots! Hell the Flyers have 3 not playing in the NHL right now that would fit the bill!

It'll be interesting to see how Evans performs at camp.

Not expecting him to go anywhere else than Laval on the short term but still... I'll be watching.

Kempe or Borgstrom to me. I have big doubts about Frost and Norris (whose numbers in th NCAA last year were close to Poehling while being older). As for Glass, lots of skills but a lot of question marks as well, still not sure if his unphysical perimeter game will translate well in th big league.

Kempe is not really a C... And lots of 18-20 year old C come with question marks, we're not talking sure shots that are picked at the top of the draft

Indeed. He was completely justified to say no.

The team is not rebuilding. They have Price, Weber and more Vets. Until those guys are dealt, this isn't a rebuild. They are retooling meaning they are going to try to make the playoffs again. Either blow it up or make the team better, cannot be inbetween
- willey101

Absolutely wrong! This team is rebuilding! Price and Weber are not the core of this team anymore and that doesn't mean they need to be dealt right now. The core is now Mete, Drouin, Poehling, Kotkaniemi, Lehkonen, and Domi. That's why 2 more years of Galchenyuk (not a core piece) for 8 of Domi was a good move.

The vets on this team are expendable and I'm sure when the time is right and the young guys are ready, guys like Weber and Price may be moved.

I'd include Gallagher and Juulsen as part of that core

Gallagher has future Captain written all over him. Perfect leader for the young guys. Juulsen may be better than Mete, I just wish he had proven it already.

Gallagher will be named captain as soon as Pacioretty is shipped out... I thought Juulsen did well in the short time he was there, as did Mete, both will get plenty of time to show what they have over the next year... You can throw Reilly's name in there too

could see florida, I think the moment kovalchuk signed with LA was the moment LA gave up on pacioretty. they just have north of 2 million left in cap space. Sure there's probably a vet on their team who we can take but I don't see that happening. I'm fine with a prospect a C,RW, or LD. one on the cusp of being a full-time NHLer would be preferable.

in a florida trade I would probably do:

tippett, 1st, and if florida wanted us to take salary we could take jamie mcginn.

Borgstrom would be nice but get the vibe florida likes him a lot, and getting tippett with a first might be more manageable.

The other team not mentioned that I thought they should talk to is the devils.
I see the canadiens as about a year maybe two behind the devils. which isn't a bad thing.
The devils have the young guys and did a good job in my opinion letting them play early. but they could use the scoring help and a veteran presence.

Anyways, if I'm the habs I target John Quenville (C) , he's likely less attractive then michael mcloed to the devils so he'll be easier to trade for, we likely benefit by a more ready nhler as quenville is 22 and has played a hand full of games already. I don't think there is an incredibly high ceiling for him but likely a quality third liner. I'd take new jerseys first and then see what else I could get.

* I am a habs fan, I maybe slightly biased towards pacioretty's worth.

I still see them staying with us I don't see either as overpaid and both seem like perfect guys to help develop this team. so in a leadership role over the next 8 years i see them as core players.
