Well when it comes to incompetent GM's GMKH def comes to mind. Green, Vanek, and Bernier... Ouch - Mino42
Green is actually good... and Vanek put up 50 points last year. I'd take Vanek and Green over Cullen and Johnson every single day of the week. |

He can't, once RW hates somebody, he'll never let it go. Did this all last summer with Reaves. So just get used to the whining. Maybe when JR retires, he will be hired as GM, then watch the Pens succeed. |

fair take on Cole. Personally I like the addition of the player, but the contract is about 1m too much, term is good, but had to outbid the Jackets for him and avs have the cap space so meh its fine |

I would take them if it was 2012. Green is coming of major spine surgery and costs over 5 mil. Vanek has been on 8 teams since 2013 and also doesn't know how to play defense at all. Wrong thread too btw |

His jab rate in blogs exceeds most goalies save percentage... roughly 91% of the time. Unfortunately he pays to remain the blogger so you and I are stuck with him. |

The Islanders really have no choice but to blow it up and rebuild it. Given their place in the Metro, the Penguins, Capitals, Flyers, Devils, and Blue Jackets are still well ahead of them. Even the Rangers are ahead of them and the Hurricanes are probably around even. Long story short, they won't be making the playoffs anytime soon even if they improved their roster which is hard to do given the lack of FA depth and the Islanders's position in the market to sell potential free agents.
They had a great draft but losing Tavares for nothing hurts big time. The right move was to either work out a deal before the season started or move him. It appears he was sending them mixed signals about his future with the team, they took the chance to let him play out, and it didn't work. That is terrible asset management. |

At least he doesn't talk down to his readers as much compared to when he first became a contributor here. |

I’m well aware of what thread I posted in. Most people just post in the most recent one so I brought the conversation over. Also, commenting that Vanek doesn’t know how to play defense at all is ironic because neither does Jack Johnson. I don’t care how many teams a player has been on if you’re gonna put up 40-50 points. That’s irrelevant.
Green is a top pairing defenseman. Not elevate but he’s a damn good hockey player. He’s probably more well rounded now as a defenseman than he was in 2012. He makes 5 mil because he deserves 5 mil because he’s good. |

I like RW just don't like his hate for some specific players. Gets tiring. |

1. Green is a top pair D man and his surgery was not "major"
2. Vanek scores. Period.

I think I am officially becoming anti-advanced metrics. Too many people take it as gospel or put it into some context that fits their particular stance.
We need to stop boiling an individual's skill to team shot attempts for/against. Yes, I know there are other metrics both that is the basis of most discussion. Too many cases just dont make any sense.
Anders Lee Corsi is 47% but scores 40 goals
Jack Johnson - terrible advanced metrics but one of the best in the league at breakout passes ...that makes great sense
Brooks Orpik - amazing fancy stats in the 16-17 season (oh did he magically become great for one season?)
The list goes on and on -- Tyler Kennedy is a god, Marcel Goc, Eric Fehr, Daniel Winnik, Conor Sheary, Cody Franson, Beau Bennett

Because I would prefer my team to sign hockey players that are good and not terrible ones, I should be a Wings fan? Weird. A bunch of retarded logic going around these boards these days. |

Anyone who uses Corsi alone to judge a player is stupid. I see so many people just using relative corsi and points/60 at 5v5 as the main way to evaluate players and all I can do is shake my head.
There's way better information out there nowadays than shot differentials and 5v5 scoring rates. That being said, the eye test still plays a role too. |
