If they hadn't signed Toews when they did, there was a high possibility either Toews was traded before or during 2015 season and thus cup #3 doesn't happen or Toews is kept but he walks after the season with nothing in return. The actual outcome is better than either of those, come on.

Look around the league right now - Doughty 11 x 8 at soon to be age 29, Tavares 11 x 7 at soon to be age 28, and Karlsson wanted a 11 x 7/8 at soon to be 29 just shows that GMs have to pay and give term to your superstars.

Look I know you want Schmaltzy to prove it a year or to more but what if...Yes I know if...he blows out the next two seasons 70 then 80 pts, almost 1.00PPG then the Hawks are ahead on the deal, getting with term early ala Keith way back. BTW is his projection is straight north and young and local. Also he is Kaner's buddy!

I understand that way of thinking, it is logical, and hopefully it will work out that way. I guess my counterpoint is just to be cautious with the cost/term given our current situation and I hate to pull out a Bush’ism here but...”known unknowns.”

1. Lehner and Mrazek get 1.5 mil each. Hutton got 2.75 from Buffalo, Halak from Boston. Khudobin 2.5 from Dallas. I do not hate the Ward signing but I do hate the 3 million hit. StanBo cannot analyze the market or the cap. Same with the Rutta deal. No one was going to give that much to him, but now he carries a 2.3 hit.

2. Why are there no conversations with Montreal? They need a center, we have Anisimov at a decent price. Add some pieces, like Forsling or Murphy and can’t the Hawks at least discuss bringing Pacioretty here?!

3. Time to get aggressive, whether for Pacioretty or for Faulk, but it is time to shake things up. Pretty soon, the way the league is moving, Seabrook deal will not look as awful. Still brutal, but more likely to be dealt. When that time comes, make it so! Time to think outside the box. For example, I know this is radical thinking, but Kane and Debrincat must play together. Give them Toews as their center. Debrincat is wasted on line 3. Try it, think outside the box!

Lebron could clear the crease and screen the goalie on the PowerPlay and be a physical force on the ice...if only he could ice skate..

Not really a fan of lebron, but think he’s athlete enough to be the hawks best power forward with a year’s worth of skating lessons. But if people are tagging on Toews eating $10.5m if the cap, not sure how they’d feel about lebron taking $37.5m per year

With the current stable of Hawk forwards, how about the following line-up. The first 3 lines have skill and some grit while the fourth line can actually intimidate the other teams D for once.

DeBrincat - Toews - Hayden

Saad - Schmaltz - Kane

Kunitz - Anisimov - Hinostroza

Martinsen - Kampf - Bouma

First 3 lines fairly well balanced. The 4th line can hit.

Sikura and Hightower and Ejdsell can develop in the Rock.

Hutton was three years - would you want Ward 3 years @ 2 million or 1 @ 3 Mil?

This is a scary thought bowman acting like his job is not in jeopardy at even with what rocky putting everyone on notice. Does rocky holds true to his word or is it just a song and dance. If was rocky seeing the moves and the waste of money on older players and 5th d man i would fired him right there also considering the bad press coming from the media and questioning the moves. And teams like st louis Calgary San Jose L.A. Edmonton Dallas Colorado all improved and the hawks to a step back. Now there is a lot of from now until start of the season but man its nit looking good. Stanley keeps making the same mistakes overpaying not gauging the market waiting to long to make a move. He might not be the worse gm but dam close.

Per Seravalli and Freidman
Calvin DeHaan is heading to Carolina on a four-year deal at $4.55 million AAV.

Where is Faulk headed...

And per @TheFourthPeriod
Hurricanes continue to have trade talks regarding Skinner and Faulk. Doesn't sound like anything is imminent, but they're very much exploring options.

And, imagine that no NTC/NMC - also per@TheFourthPeriod:
de Haan's 4-year, $18.2M deal with Carolina does not include any no-trade protection.

My guy de Haan gooooonee!

Knew the Hawks weren't going to sign him.

Nice signing for the Canes. Their D is looking great.

Do the Hawks land Faulk? He has 2 years left on his existing contract, doesn’t he? Seems to be the magic number for Stan this year...

EDIT:
Per Cap Friendly
Faulk -
$4.83M AAV UFA in 2 years (20-21 season)

At this point who cares blowfart has screwed this up so much i just hoping for a top 5 pick next draft. And this coming from a die hard Blackhawk fan just like the rest of you. Does anyone honestly think bowman can make the right trade and come out of it without being fleeced or overpaying.

For my inception fans...StanBo is spinning his top to determine if he’s in limbo or not...and the top keeps spinning as the Hawks organization seems stuck in a dream-state...fooled by the deception of past glory and memories, unable to discern the reality that this team sucks.

What is the plan?? STL was already a better team last year and just added two legit 2nd line Centers in O’Reilly and Bozak in addition to Perron, and they are stacked on Defense. Dallas is a better team, they get big/skilled Nichuskin back and might get Karlsson. Both Dallas and St Louis missed the playoffs....so where does that leave the Hawks?? Last place.

Justin Faulk is a nice player, but will get $7mil on his next deal. Hawks are 3-4 impact players away from competing, so unless it’s Faulk ++++, then what’s the point?

Determine a plan, and commit to it. Don’t be the White Sox from 2006-2015 or Leo DiCaprio...stuck in limbo....

If you are upset that he hasn't landed one of the "big fish" UFA's, didn't many say this Free agant market is not that strong? What trade this offseason has he screwed up? Last season there was calls for his head because the backup goalie position was weak. He signs a veteran this off-season, and people are still pissed off.
I kind of miss the days where I could get a section to myself. Maybe all of the bandwagon fans will go back home, and sip on expensive coffee.

Signing DeHaan makes Faulk all that much more available. DeHaan would have been a nice pick-up for the Hawks, but Faulk works better from a cap perspective.

I've always had a soft spot for the Canes, hopefully they emerge as a playoff team next season.

AA virtually has the same cap hit as Faulk right?

If the Hawks can make a deal where AA and Faulk are the centre pieces they somehow add another centre it would make sense. I think Carolina would want something in addition to AA, maybe Forsling in return for a mid-round pick or so-so prospect.

I'm ok with trading Anisimov as part of a bigger plan, but and AA/Faulk deal without adding another top 6 forward doesn't make sense.

Almost too perfect for a little swap. Add in forsling and have a center coming back out way!

Don't know if Bowman could swing it, but adding Faulk without giving up AA or Murphy makes them a better team doesn't it? Who ya gonna plug in as the second line center, because I pretty much think Q has AA playing there and Schmaltz on the wing somewhere. Unless your getting Rask back also , AA is a pretty solid #2 center at this point.
And ya gotta think the league will adjust to little kitty boy and pound the body on him every chance they get. He'll be up to the task but Schmaltz will turtle or pull up and let an opponent get the puck. Hopefully Saad puts his big 220 lb.ass to work . Cause right now they're pretty small.
I would like Faulk without having to give up AA. If ya trade Murphy , your stuck with that stiff aoesterle probably then.

That's the tricky part. What would the Canes want that the Hawks could afford to give up outside AA, Murphy, Schmaltz and DeBrincat? A first plus Forsling or Mitchell?
