Amen Brotherđź‘Ť,I am not one advocating such a move. I am in total agreement with you, that number 19 will hang from the rafters after his last Blackhawk game which will be at the end of his career and no sooner. But I share others frustrations with some of the moves or non-moves being made.
As most fans know, whether you have season tickets or go to a couple Games a year it is not cheap, I am one of those guys that have to write the big check by August 3, and I think a lot of us share those tickets with other people on a year-by-year commitment and you know how it goes, when your name is not on the invoice, excuses start to come in why people cannot take the same amount of games that they took in the past. Our tickets have been in my family since 1972, and I got to say for the first time I am thinking about this being our last season if we at least don’t have a playoff team. We sat through one massive dark period of time, but we’re not getting any younger and I’ll be damned if I’m going to fork out $10-$15,000 a year at almost 70 years old by the time these guys get good again. The big screen TV will then be the best seat in the house! Here’s hoping that Stan Bowman pulls a surprise out of his sleeve.

Gretzky got traded, so there's that. Also, Jonathan Toews makes over $128,000 PER REGULAR SEASON GAME...so there's that too.

Everyone suggesting trading Toews should just stop now! It doesn´t matter how frustrated you are with his playing last two or three years. He will be the last Blackhawk to wear number 19 and for a reason. Captain of a three Stanley Cup champion team. That is what he is going to be remembered one day - as he should. He is not going to be traded. Enough with that nonsense.
- MjulQvist

I'm not advocating that he should be traded nor do I think it's likely. My thought is that if there was ever a time that #19 would be on the move it would be 1) during a Hawks rebuild 2) to his "hometown team" 3) to a team that was in the WCF in the prior year and 4) one of the top 2C's on the roster from that run (Stasny) signed with a rival.

Again, the cap hit and NMC are somewhat-to-very prohibitive. If there was ever a time that he would be moved it would be now. Probably would require WPG coming hard at the Hawks brass as I too think he has tremendous value.

That is getting old and situation was very different with Oilers back then. And they won Stanley Cup without him too.

Tell that to the season ticket holders who were promised big changes this season.

So McDs answer to solve problems was to hire “hockey consultants”. Why? First of all, so if they make recommendations and they go wrong, he can blame someone other than himself. Secondly, because McD knows nothing about hockey.

Certainly lots of circumstantial evidence anyway that SB and Q arent on the same page sometimes. Like after draft day last year, Weise, Fleischmann, Daley, Kempny. Great leaders find the root causes of these problems and solve them. Sadly, it seems to be continuing. When Q has to go to a media outlet to get the word out he wants defensman that can play defense....not a good indicator.

Sometimes change is necessary, and as others have pointed out, it has been successful elsewhere.

Here's praying Toews, Seabs, Keith, and Crawford found the Fountain of Youth on Toews' South American expedition this summer. Also, does anyone have any essential oils or creams for Hossa?

Sure, line 'em up for me. I'll start with my family that lives up there.

Also, as others have countered, changes do not always work out. It's a risk either way. There will be a time when change on a bigger scale is needed, but is it really only 3 years removed from a cup? I personally don't know the answer, I just know that sometimes people sound extremely entitled in how they talk about the subject - they're definitively right, this org is management is incompetent, everyone and their mother should be fired, etc etc. There's no grey area or allowances or anything.

Toews went on a South America trip?

Please tell me he’s spent the other parts of this summer training all day with one of those psycho trainers.

Keith has been going to one forever, some guys like Gary Roberts.

Yep. Would love to get Danzig in a Hawks sweater...

Danzig would be awesome, but everyone on this board would just complain about him being a smurf. He is like 5'4

Hope you enjoyed that last place finish and no playoff last year cause you're going to get many more years of that with Captain serious at the helm. 10.5 mill tied up in a declining borderline second line centre is one of the main reasons this team is going nowhere, that and that Seabs contract. It's not nonsense it's a fact, and yes one day his Jersey will hang from the rafters but for now they should do all they can to trade him if the team wants to move forward.

No one will take on that contract you say....I just made my point.....rinse, wash, repeat....

Rocky: "I'm happy to announce today that Stan Bowman has been made the VP of Hockey Operations. With today's announcement, Joel Quennville will be moving from behind the bench after a HOF coaching career leading the Chicago Blackhawks to 3 Stanley Cups during his tenure as head coach in Chicago, to GM of the club. John McDonough has decided to pursue other opportunities and we want to thank John for his many contributions and ONE GOAL leadership during his time as head executive of our franchise."

Eh, most of the people who are coming off entitled also want to jettison the best and talented Hawks players to start a rebuild so that doesn't particularly jive. Not everyone, obvs but most.

And again, 3 years removed from a cup - literally only two teams with smaller 'droughts' and one of those was the perennial loser before this year. You'd think we were fans of the Canucks or Blues with the way some of y'all go at it. I'm not happy with things either, like I said I haaaate some of the moves lately, but some need to maybe take a step back.

- L_B_R

Tru dat, and I'd like to suggest some step forward. The ledge can get awful crowded in here.
