I dont watch much Carolina or Faulk. Is he a top pairing guy? Can he defend well? How does he compare to vatanen?

Seems hes consistently a minus player...like minus into the 20s. I know it's a team defense and all, but he's also playing half the side of the actual 2 defenders of the net.. Not too great on that end.

+/- is irrelevant. Carolina had terrible goal tending last year and has played on bad teams his whole career. It doesn't matter.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe his corsi and all those advanced stats are pretty good. It's in the same vein as people saying Vatanen is a liability on defense when he clearly isn't.

Faulk is basically a slight upgrade to Severson, but older, higher paid, and closer to UFA status.

Doubt Shero is in on him. Believe very much that he's in on CdH, though.

One guy is practically free and the other is going to cost the team assets so i am sure he has more interest in dehaan then trading away pieces for Faulk. That being said how do you make a push for the play offs and emphasize it for Hall and then do nothing in the off season but let players walk. He has to look to improve the team with more then a smart low risk fringe signing or you jumped the gun and wasted assets in the process for almost no reason if you thought you would be worse the following year. From what i can tell teams around us are making moves and attempting to improve.

de Haan will be overpaid in both value and term by waiting this long, but I'm fine with it if it helps the defense core.

As long as they realise he is under butcher/Severson/Vats and sign him as such. Man I want Dumba tho. 23 years old, fresh of a 50 point season where he generated a great deal of offense, and I bet he could fly under the radar with contract somewhere in the 6 year 6M AAV area. The kid has alot of quality years ahead as a top pairing RD

I think he’s a good quality Defenseman. I was just teasing MB88 for asking if he was good defensively because the focus today is more about putting up point then shutting guys down.

Luca Sbisa might be worth a look. There isn't much out there aside from trades. He's a lefty and seemed to play well for Vegas last year. The Swiss connection can't hurt either
