Agree no reason to panic. Once Carlson and Taveras were gone there was no need to overspend on something ridiculous. Having said that don't overpay for DeHaan or Maroon. They simply will not move the bar that much. But simply put, the Devs look like a team fighting above their weight class for next year's playoffs. Barring a significant trade..... |

If they overpay, I wouldn’t mind it with De Haan. He is a top 4 Dman and the Devils don’t have much there on the immediate horizon. Not sure if you’ve seen next years UFA crop on D, but it’s not good:

Hearing that Calvin de hann has identified 4 clubs that would be excellent organizations to join. A return to @NYIslanders or joining @NYRangers #devils #stars he is expected to sign a multi year deal today! @NHLNetwork

Keep in my trades can be made. People seem to forget Shero has made one big trade every offseason since he's been running things. Detroit has 3 young talented forwards that are RFA's; only 16.6 in cap space, and have only 17 players under contract. |

Rumor on this site just posted he's leaning toward a reunion with JT in Toronto. |

As have I. Seems logical he could be tradable |

Even if they land De Haan and Maroon, the Devs still need to pick up some additional secondary scoring. What about Duclair? Take a 1 year flier on Yakupov? |

We have had some successes and failures with guys on the scrap heap. Both guys have struggled but are clearly talented. Seems worth taking a shot. |

I wouldn't give too much term and money to Maroon or De Haan. As for Maroon fitting in, so did DSP, and how did that work out? And yes, they are not exactly the same player, but I'd be hesitate to sign him to big term and money.
Here's a thought:
New Wild GM Fenton is trying to shake this up and in trade rumors; Coyle, Zucker, Nieds, and Dumba are available.
So my question is, should Shero give Mojo 5-6mil next year or trade him to get Nieds, who is already signed at 5,250,000, long term and is a RW? Also, people and Todd keep saying Severson is a top 4 dman, I agree, but not on NJ. As long as Hynes benches Severson for the Lovejoys, Muellers, and Moores, hell I wouldn't put it past Hynes to play Gryba over Severson, he will not be a Devil long term.
So I propose this(I think it's feasible):
To MIN: Severson, Mojo, Pick(2nd?)/prospect or both
To NJ: Dumba and Nieds |

I think his speed could be beneficial with Hall and Nico. He's played LW and RW before. |

Disagree Maroon and DeHaan help us tremendously.
Palmieri only played 62 games and MOJO 29 last season .
I am more concerned with Bratt who's play really tailed off. He was a 6th round pick for a reason . Maybe a return to LW ? his natural position .
We also need to keep brining up the KIDS....... MCLEOD??
Hall- Nico -Maroon
Wood - Zacha - Palmieri
Mojo - Zajac - Bratt
Coleman - Boyle - Noesen
---------
Greene - Vatanen
DeHann - Severson
Butcher - Muelller
this makes us a better team

DeHaan would, but you don't want to give stupid money.
Bratt was a rookie and it was expected that he would hit a wall, even Nico and Butcher were okay at a certain point, but regained it towards the end.
Maroon wasn't used on the top line. McLeod will be in the AHL and honestly, I don't think he be a top 6 guy as of right now.
As for Mojo, I'm looking past this season. He will have to be resigned and is he worth 5-6 mil, my answer is no.
And with Hynes it will probably look like this: I'm basing this off the fact that he's done this last year.
Greene - Vatanen
DeHann - Mueller
Butcher - Lovejoy
Gryba, Severson, Santini
And yes Gryba is a ahead of Severson and Santini. |

Is Santini that bad? I always found him solid in the few games I saw. |

No. Not at all. It's a little crazy how we're dealing with him. |

You can't say Severson is 5th on our right side defenseman depth chart and then have him be an integral piece in a trade that brings back a large return. Also, the alternate universe you live in in which Severson is worse than Mueller, Lovejoy and Gryba must be a dark place. |

I don't think you read the post. I think he is a top 4 dman, but Hynes has shown over the last 3? years that he has no problem benching Severson in favoring of other worse dmen. Lovejoy, Moore, Mueller have played over Severson AND even guys like Schlemko and Warosky got PP time while Severson sat on the bench.
AND I don't doubt it for one second that Hynes would bench Severson and play Gryba. |

I still have no idea what the benching at the end of last season was about.
It certainly isn't going to help Severson's trade value either. |

If Shero can find a way to have Dumba, De Haan, Vats, and Severson as our top 4 d, i'm happy |
