One this we agree...

But ROR makes 7.5M AAV thru 1922-23. That's gonna sting as the years roll by.

Hey, we also agree on the ChiSox. ...

at any rate, oh yea the bill will come due for St.Louis and it won't be pretty. Will they have Cups to show for it? Absolutely not...as Vandermeer23 said...their goalie isn't a champion and the coach is a boob.

Dam....R O R to the Blues, &Bowman just keeps kicking the season tix holders and fans right in the groin! Noooooo faith that anything else will get done other than some over seas little smurfs. That projected line up that someone posted before..... Most high school teams have more size and jam. Hinostroza a 1st line LW???? Joke! Dam it , get in the game for James Neal or offer sheet some RFA's. These GM's spending like its Christmas? Then be the Grinch... Go and Steal a Tom Wilson or Boone Jenner type. Most teams will just say Boo to most of these guys and they will gladly turn the puck over. Saw that a lot with Schmaltz last year.

Hawks have about 3-4 million of cap space left (not counting Hossa on LTIR in season) so they can't sign poop.

What has ROR going to another team have to do with the Hawks? They didn't have room for ROR (the Blues still have $8m in space) or the assets (the Hawks don't have a top center prospect ready for the NHL). ROR was never going to come to the Hawks.

Just because another team makes a trade shouldn't be a damn knock on Bowman. He's made some bad trades and signings, but not every move made by every other GM should count against him. Blame the man for his mistake but not these made up deam-land ones. Damn.

You are right actually. But it's natural for some to be upset as they may perceive the gap (short term maybe) widen. Not everyone is as diplomatic and analytical as you.

Oh, I can be undiplomatic - the trades for Scuderi and trade of Danault were where I cursed Bowman for weeeeeks. (frank), I'm already undiplomatic about the signings from today - I hate that $5.5m is locked up in a backup goalie that hasn't been average since the Hawks won their first cup and a bottom pair d-man.

Anyway, there are plenty of mistakes Bowman has made of which to judge without looking elsewhere jmo.

Fair enough L_B_R...I enjoy your take because you bring a different angle to things, give people things to think about.

That said, despite my rancor and ill will toward Bowman I think it's very clear there is much left to be done. You don't need 6 third pair D-men...somethings gotta give.

This would be a good consolation prize. Although not the biggest but he plays big and tough, an honest player that has character and has won many cups. His overall play is on the slightly downward trend but his expectations are far different than Toews, Seabs, Keith, etc. Besides I think he has a Chicago connection, maybe due to having played at Western MI
- D2D

Catching up, so I'm not sure if this has been pointed out, but Kunitz played at my alma mater, Ferris State University. I was cheering for him in Nashville Last season when he lifted the Cup.

He has to. Plenty of time. Too many bottom pairing types....What he's going to do is a guess, but so far I am not at all pleased. I think each of the three players could play some role but I don't think the true needs (other than backup goalie and I still have a problem with that situation) were addressed.

Joking on St.Louis after they made a legit statement to compete is hilarious. YES, the Blues are the Blows, they have no Cups, I get it, but in NO PLANET would I rather have Anisimov over Ryan O'Reilly as my Line 2 center. That said he is paid huge...Blows need to win in next 2-3 years ...then they'll replace Hawks as bottom feeder.
- kwolf68

Salary aside, ROR is a far better player than AA. Every aspect of the game.

McD will have his little interns and PR minions make calls to the disgruntled fan base trying to sell them on their collection of Charmin that is projected in for next year. Sikura, Hinostroza? Top 6 ? Going up on a nightly basis against? Schmaltz , man if Bowman was smart, he should strike while the iron is hot, and if this kid is everything they say he is , trade him for a young no#1 or 2 D man. Ya the kid scores, but I look for Charactor also, and last year when his CAPTIAN was getting raked over, he stood there and refused to get his nose dirty for his team, same goes with him shying away from pucks near the boards, if there's a real good deal out there for a high end D man? Bye bye little Nicky!but then again, Ya trust Bowman?

Your response is proper although fed up disgusted with management fans may not quite understand.

Here's what I keep in mind; this is my perspective: you know the last quality Bowman will add is always toughness, grit and to some extent players with size who have some nasty. Bowman must believe lower round players will provide that ingredient and it is that sort of players(s) whom will show up each night for it (physical play, toughness, grit) is what keeps them employed.

So if Bowman and Q have issues next year and losses pile up, everyone is going to be looking at them especially closely, critiques aplenty. They may loose their jobs.

I for at least one fan am doubtful that Bowman can field a good enough defense crew and enough toughness. I give him until opening night, even shortly into the season to make enough upgrades.

Maybe Stan and Q will become the reclamation candidates in due time, waiting for another gig after going down in Chicago.

They can change coaches. Fleury went from playoff poor to playoff greatness. Allen has about, who knows with him. I am stupefied why Buffalo seemed anxious to unload O'Reilly. I have some ideas why, but I toss this btickbat out there to see if someone can explain why O'Reilly is the travelling man. Are the Blues going to return to school tougher brand featuring more physical play. They gained a top tough talented player for a third line tough but not as talented. Steen is getting old in the tooth. They will need to bring in a couple more forwards.

I'll believe it when I see it.

IMO ROR plays to get paid, not to win. Not a difference maker.

Terrific deal for Buffalo.

- ArlingtonRob

Strongly disagree. Blues have been very unhappy with Berglund and Sobotka, who were unproductive and overpaid. Tage Thompson is unproven and did not have a good rookie year. Draft choices are a roll of the dice. Additions of ROR and Bozak give the Blues, with Schenn, real strength at center.

Don’t want to go all the way back and not sure if it was already discussed (so forgive me if it was), but doesn’t the Boqvist entry-level deal surprise anyone?

It essentially means that he’s absolutely going to be in Rockford next season, right?

That means realistically he could be up as soon as 2019-2020 season if he does really well. Which is interesting because he said he is still a couple years away. Wonder if the front office rushes him up?

He played on the same team with Lucas Carlsson if I’m not mistaken, so it might make sense to pair them up.

Boqvist and Joker on the right side for the next decade+ (Perhaps as early as 2019? 2020?) that’s going to be fun to look forward to, and that’s definitely something that the front office is going to take into account as they move forward with bigger personnel decisions (such as acquiring top-pairing d-men).

Boqvist is NOT ready at all. The AHL game will eat him up. If they rush him they are fools. Thought Bowman was following the Detroit model, let the kids marinate and be overly ready.

Berglund and Sobotka are bottom liners....Thompson is meh and the 1st round pick wil be later. And St.Louis balances salary to boot. It's a good deal for St.Louis, and potentially Buffalo...won't know that piece until later.
