You're adding context???? You mean like the NHL coach of a team chooses players from his roster best fit to accomplish an objective should also be taken into account?

Interesting approach.

I showed how well it worked. It didn't. It was spin article to make it seem like Manning was some great coup. He is a borderline NHL player.

That’ll be north of 3 million Aav. Probably a ntc as well.....

It’s reality. They are so far behind the good teams it’s trulu comical st this point. They have done a horrible job managing their long term cap space and retooling.

Higher cap number=higher salaries and the 2nd and 3rd tier guys get paid more.

Manning for 2.25 Aav is just as bad as a guy getting overpaid at a higher number.

The biggest joke of the day was the need to give cam ward a full ntc, but then again I’m not surprised because Stan loves ntc and then we wonder why we can’t make a trade.....Stan has no leverage. See AA as the next one.

- SteveRain

Some see a window left for the Hawks, some don't. I see the latter. I will not bat an eye at ANY player signed at 1 yr, maybe 2, period. Any player. No sense. Why?

The only jokes would have been a Green type contract or any player that signed for 4-5 mil with term. Anchor contracts with term.

I understand StanBow has to ice a team next yr without giving out what I see as joke contracts that will deter what MIGHT be a run in 2-3 yrs. I also understand most fans will see this otherwise. Those who think the window is open.

Only two camps, one the window is open the other it's closed. If it's closed StanBow needs to be in the do no harm mode and it seems he is as he looks to avoid the clown show that was the goaltending and defense last yr.

Yes he put up 52 last year. He is by default the 2C right now.

Look at the wacky contracts given out to 50+pt 2Cs.

Kid is going to ask for the moon.

Its happened. The article was making it like Manning shutting them down. Crosby was at ~2PPG.
- Elbows15

Honestly I'm sure you're right. But the guy isn't a total piece of trash like some are making him out to be. Manning is a serviceable bottom pairing option who won't let guys mess around in front of the net.

I feel like I went to bed Christmas Eve, dreaming of all the great Star Wars toys, only to get stuck with Buck Rogers and Clash of the Titan toys...frauds and not even fitting the same genre! (And yes, that was my 1981 Christmas!)

If it's a $3m deal, then it'd be a short bridge and he wouldn't be eligible for a NTC. If longer than 2-3 years, then it'll be in the $5-6m x 6 year range like most higher end / top 6 bridges and could have a NTC in the final year only.

Remember a player is only eligible for a NTC/NMC after 7 accrued seasons or being 27.

LBR, when you get a chance look over the link in Powers' FA tracker to the PHI writer and is deep dive into Manning's fancy numbers and post.

Oh I agree and I’m in the camp window is closed. 2/7/19 will be older in 2-3 years if 8/12 blossom and the young d men hit. They will also need a goalie as 50 will be done.

I’m a proponent of blowing it up and getting assets for 2 and maybe 19. Higher cap helps moving 19 easier.

And just saw LBR’s post so he can’t have a nmc. I’m sure Stan will give him a verbal one then!! Also I would not do a 5-6 year deal at 5-6M. I think he needs to prove himself a little more before that. Maybe 3 yr 10M total?

Can you link me? Because I was looking at tracking data / micro stats and Manning is a replacement level bottom pairing d-man no matter what I look at so far.

By the time Manning gets to the net the puck is already in there. The last thing the Hawks needed was another bottom pair D-man.

None of which changes the fact that Manning was getting crushed by Crosby and Malkin while being used, incorrectly i add, by his coach.

So stuff your gotcha.

At this point who cares. Trade him, sign him, let him hold out. None of it going to make a difference with Bowman and Q still in the organization at this point.

They have exceeded their shelf lives. Thank them for what they did and move on.

Could we be more excited.
What's the old saying.....

As I said...sigh.
