Stan knows that he is on a one year leash; This team is competitive next year or he is gone.
As of now, this team is no better than last season and given the improvements made in their divisions and conference, the team as constructed is possible worse.

Actually there’s talk about seager going to 2nd after his surgery.
JT at 3rd Machado SS Seager 2B
Verdugo would be in the deal. - KINGS67
Lot of Seager 2B traction? Guess it makes sense. And if that is the way, then Manny fits it. Or, is LAD only looking at a Manny rental? |

AA's contract looks cheap to me compared to Bozak. - RickJ
Could be and as a result AA should bring back more with the Hawks in an unsaid rebuild.

Yes this should be the goal . Seems like every team in the division has improved Cept you know who.
We will end up 7th again
Lose for Hughes - HamiltonHawk
Let’s all realize - even if they finish with the worst record in league history - they would only have about an 18% chance of winning the first overall pick. |

Its 500k less and bozak is a better all around player. He can also win wait for it FACEOFFS!!
Manning at 2.25 stupid like manning but not at that price tough depth d man. So 6 million wasted way to bowman just confirms how bad of gm he is. Only good thing he just may have fired himself without knowing it. Bad contracts missing on free agents bad drafting neglecting the center and goaltending positions on the big club and in the system. To me has always been in over his head. Daddy not there anymore to hold his hand and this the results 3 years of futility and shame. I hope more is coming but not holding my breath. Hope hawks lose 82 games next and fans bail thats only way wirtz will wake up and clean house from Mcego down.

No matter how you slice it:
A) These three moves did not improve our team in the present.
B) These three moves definitely did not improve our team for the future.
C) Does anybody really have faith in Bowman to make trades to improve us?
D) Bowman has turned what was once a powerhouse, mini-dynasty, into a very subpar team in record time.
E) I am beyond frustrated. |

Manning was a good signing. Kunitz is filler that can play up and down the line up. Ward is a one year insurance. Overall the hawks avoided the over pay parade. |

Yes indeed. These things happen when a guy is gifted a job based on a parents success. Who knew? |

I can’t imagine him just being a rental. I’m sure they’ll look to sign him If he’s traded to LA.

Except they did overpay. A bottom pairing guy at 2.25? Ward at 3 Million WITH a NTC (Mrzak got half that with NO NTC)? When was the last time he was good? Once again Bowman paying for "what they did" and not what they can actually do. Bowman has been an unmitigated disaster for 3-4 years now and the results are bearing that out. |

Is Duncan Keith a weirdo ? - mrpaulish
Um, well he's into reading about serial killers (per BHTV) and loves to shout out Scottish battle cries, and was the original Onnit guy on the team, but other than that. . .who knows?
Why do you ask?
ETA: ahhh, locker room situation. . .got it |

TOR with 24 mil in cap space with 18 players signed. The 2 NHL rostered unsigned are Tavares and Nylander. Next yrs significant unsigned are RFA's Matthews and Marner.....
Looks like Tavares fits just fine and is a part of a new core of Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kadri (their 3C!!) M. Rielly and Zaitsev. |

Didn't realize TOR had that kind of cap room. IMO he fits just fine........ Good for TOR and that he stays in the East.

I think we should be in full rebuild and I think Bowman knows the Hawks should be . We are a lottery team and that's ok, knew it would happen one day.
So why are we signing older slower players .
I never understand Bowmans strategy - HamiltonHawk
Is it because he is capitulating to Q as he knows that Q has shown he'll play the older, slower NHL vets? Has he given up trying to force him to coach another type and style of player? |

And 2 of the 3 are 1 yr deals. Hawks better at backup goalie, better on defense (not hard to do) and tougher to play against with Kunitz and Manning.

Only see one top 4 dman there? Unless you see something else. To me this was a bad move and the consequences of this signing will appear sooner than later |

They still need a top 4 D and a C who can win more Face offs than he loses. |

We have to find out how many yrs Mrzak got. If it's a 1 yr it would seem he's the better fit at 1/2 the price of Ward.

Not really they didn't jeopardize future cap monies which Bowman now understands is so valuable
