LOL. It's starting to get annoying....must be rough choosing what team you're going to be a multi millionaire for?
- kwolf68

The cash doesn't bother me one bit. It's the attitude. Just like Darvish. Now he is on the shelf like I feared. And he still tips a pitch. At least Tavaras will produce.

Of course he has done recon. Now he's deciding where he wants to sign. Not sure what the big deal is. This is a regular occurrence every July 1st.

Fine great. Good for him. Other centers are moving on now as it appears Statsny is heading to Vegas...so Tavares can milk it as long as he wants.

The Blues are still interested in ROR; to some degree the Habs as well among other teams. The Sabres' believed ask of a 1st, 2nd and top prospect or young player still too rich for some ... Teams don't think ROR will be dealt once bonus is paid by Sabres

...follow up from his tweet that Sabres confirmed with the NHL that ROR’s bonus doesn’t have to be paid until midnight tonight.

So the players the Blackhawks have been tied to thus far...

Cam Ward (34)
Tomas Plekanec (35)
Chris Kunitz (38)

Absolutely fascinating.

Plekanec back to Montreal, it seems. Would have been a decent pickup on a cheap deal. He is good defensively and great on faceoffs.

Adding any of those 3 would make sense if that was ALL YOU needed, just 1 or 2 veterans away. That's not the case with this team...unless in their arrogance and hubris Bowman and company really think Erik Gustaffson is a top pairing D-man? And Victor Edjsell is 2nd line center?

Artem Anisimov has submitted a list of 10 teams he can be traded to, his agent confirms. “Yes it has been supplied to the Hawks, expect him to stay but you never know….,” his agent Todd Diamond wrote in a text.

That's what I'm saying. Always seems so risky to me for a player to pull this kind of move.

Seems like you could potentially set yourself up for failure. You make the "where's he going??" big deal, hold everything up and then finally sign somewhere. You better produce and prove you were worth the drama, you know?

I don't know...wish more guys were dudes and just picked a team and signed with them. Haha.

NOW the plot thickens. NOT that AA should have EVER gotten any kind of modified NTC to begin with.

I am far from an Anisimov fan. In fact, I hope they trade him, but ya better have a contingency because as poor as he is on draws he does know how to play that Center position at the NHL level and center is not a strength of the Hawks.

UPDATE:

Sounds like the Kunitz signing has legs to it.

Stan is also trying to get a middle 6 centre.

Also, if others stikeout or don't like the prices for other centres, Artem Anisimov could be on the move.

Stan may be circling back on D after apparently missing on key targets Cole and Moore. De Haan may be too expensive. Hickey might be the guy now.

Yeah agree did t want them to sign a JVA for 6 yearX7 contract . . The reality is this team needs to rebuild with youth for a few years. We need to save cap space for the younger players when they are out of their first contracts. . I just don't unrstand bringing in ward and Kunitz or Cole unless It's to trade at the deadline for assets. I think are a long way off from the playoffs
- HamiltonHawk

Honestly I'm ok with anyone the organIzation feels it needs for ONE yr, 1 yr! There are very few in FA that will help long term, maybe De Haan being the only one, so grabbing a player who can fill a hole, stop the bleeding and serve as a bridge I'm fine with however unattractive that player may look today.

So Stanbo rightly sitting out this overpriced, overhyped FA market has resulted in this board devolving into White Sox talk? Ugh - who cares? No one except their 15,000 fans.
- BMWChiFan

Probably the same 15,000 who made up most of the 16,666 fans that used to be thought of as the only Blackhawk fans around.

What prospects do the Cubs have to get Manny? Their best prospect isn't even really that good.
- kwolf68

Russell, Happ and QUINTANA !!
That's the offer that could get it done..
and would legitimize the bust trade to the White Sox. At least they'd get Machado out of it and he's a possible HOF player for the next 10 years.

Don't be greedy Theo, unload Quintana if that's what it takes. Montgomery is better anyway. JMO.

Exactly. One year deals are perfect. The Hawks FO clearly doesn't think the window is closed (neither do I), so signing veteran guys to one year deals is just fine. The young guys that make the lineup will be fine, and the others can continue their development under Colliton (who is being seasoned to take the team over after Q). If the team bombs you just trade those veterans off at the deadline for assets.

Hey everyone... isn't free agency frenzy fun!??

Looks like Hawks are working on a lot of things right now as some of there "plans" are falling through. They will make some signings official soon I'm sure.

Also, I've heard if Bowman isn't liking what he's seeing (or hearing) on the open market, he will turn back to the trade route. Keep an eye on that.

- Justin Lowe

Gee...there's a shock. My faith in Bowman and this hierarchy to do the right thing is nill.

Depending on the return and with the Hawks so thin at center organIzationally this move signals a rebuild of sorts without them saying so to me. A Brodziak type signed for 1 yr, 2 at the veeeeeery most, to play 3C with Schmaltz as the 2C?

AA is signed at 4.5 for 3 more seasons. He should bring back a nice return for those who lose out going after ROR or maybe even Tavares.

Patience and remember;

No deals are better than bad deals.

My predictions would be minor signing or two, and AA is getting moved.

Compared to what people are getting in FA, AA's contract is a deal.

Hopefully Stan can convince someone else of that.
