Judging by the Hawk personnel decisions over the last four years, I'd be shocked if they sign Roussel. And if they do, it too will be an overpay.

If the Hawks are looking at guys like Beagle and Grant, then they know they're out of the race for guys like Stastny. A better pick would be Riley Nash at 3C for $2-3m.

Also reports are the Jets are exploring moving salary to make room for Stastny.

Would like to see Riley Nash. I don't want to overpay for a Riley Nash though.

I have heard he's looking for 4-5 years. Vancouver might give it to him.

Hawks need to sign Paul Stastny for center instead of Derek Grant, Stastny would be a perfect fit for the Hawks the Jets don't have any cap room to keep him they would need to trade off some players in order to do so.

He's asking huge bucks. Don't see it happening.

Source just now: "no way" Saad is getitng dealt for Faulk. So we got that goin' for us. Which is nice. Everything else unsettled by Tavares Drama. Hawks getting positive feedback from DeHaan, Hickey, John Moore. Also, have inquired about . . . Roussel.

- walleyeb1

No shock. I stated many times Saad for Faulk is a terrible deal. They would have to add a good piece to make that work. And just picking up Hossa's salary won't get it done. Move on

Add in a trade for a guy like Faulk and they might not be in too bad of shape.

This lineup was built in mind that the baby core has to take a another big leap.

- Justin Lowe

Trade for Faulk and sign de Haan, the Hawks defense is instantly much much much much (much) better than last year.

I am good trading for Faulk, but absolutely NOT Saad.

Mike Kelley-

Fluid situation but appears likely scenario for Erik Karlsson is....
1) Gets traded to Vegas with Bobby Ryan sooner rather than later...
2) Senators look to free agency to fill open D spot as opposed to what would come back from Vegas.

I would like Faulfk as well but what are we giving up? Schmaltz? Jocki and Mitchell? he has a ton of value.

Weak second line
Kahun Sikura Rockford developing should not see the nhl at all until next season

Weak 3rd line also

add martinsin grant hayden good 4th line

Unless hawks can get a puck moving d man doesn't matter if they sign dehann the d will have same outcome poor.

Hopefully bigger things will happen!

- Scott1977

Martinsen is gone to Europe. I'd also argue that the Hawks have too many puck-moving dmen and not enough stay-at-home shutdown guys. What I wouldn't give for a Hammer-Oduya pairing to come fix this.

I'd do Ruuta, AA, Kampf, Edjsell, a future pick 3rd round or worse, and one of the prospects not named Boqvist, Jokiharju, Sikura, Mitchell, Beaudin, Wise.

Not all of these pieces obviously, but some combination of these.

Lowry would be a fantastic pick-up! Awesome 3C! Stan should grab Armia while he's at it.

I guess a lot will be going on and we just have to wait for the dust to settle. My thoughts are these:
1-We will trade AA.
2-We won't be able to trade Hossa's contract and will again use his LTIR. Can anyone explain the difference in using it in offseason as compared to during regular season...and how that affects the cap?
3-I have no clue who they sign or trade for as there are so many names out there. Sunday should be fun though.

Roussel is a Hawks killer. Would love to get him on the squad.

I don't know...I'm down with that potential lineup.

JT business is starting to get on my nerves.

Why can't guys be dudes and just pick a team and sign? Why does it always get dragged out and turned into a mini-Lebron drama show?

If Hossa can be moved or they are confident they can move him... then maybe they do sign a JVR level.

My opinion is defence and centre needs morr attention and 5-on-5 goals wl improve.

How do you figure? They just re-singed him for a year...and not to play in Europe.

2. Bad news, it looks like the same things as last year: 'This includes Marian Hossa, whose contract will need to be on the books all summer until the team can place him on long-term injured reserve on the first day of the 2018-19 regular season, just like it did last year.'
https://chicago.suntimes....breakdown-2018-offseason/

I find it hard to believe that none of the basement teams want the free $4MM that Hossa's contract offers.

Ward is not an upgrade....so there’s that.

I wouldn’t mind Jay Beagle as a third line center. We could use someone that’s 58% at the dot and has no problem playing in a bottom six role.
