I miss watching angry Hossa on the backcheck - Elbows15
Yea, an then he gets the puck back and then attacks and it seems like the puck is Velcroed to his stick ! |

Favorite all time was that back and forth with Datszuk! Two masters of that game at their prime!! - Marlowe
The guy with the puck had to hear those angry strides coming their way. |

Go watch clips of Svechnikov that the Canes drafted. In the O-zone, their playing styles are very similar. |

Rumorbreak:
Just want to reiterate this again, Tavares is not going to the Montreal Canadiens.
Me: Lol , just cus Bergevin can speak French the Canadians are letting him ruin and have let him ruin that franchise. Hilarious. |

The Islanders not having a goalie is a huge problem for them. I know breaking news right??lol.
The Sharks should be the obvious choice but the California taxes on money like that is no joke. Canadian income tax is more harsh than California ? Maybe home is where the heart is for Tavares and he stays on the Island , in Brooklyn whatever. the Isles do have talent on the way but no goalie.
Hopefully this decision is made soon - mrpaulish
Not sure about giving E Kane 7 mil per with a bunch of term but Wilson is gearing for a big run. In the last hr he signed Couture for 8yrs at 8 mil per!!
Indeed, gonna be real interesting to see Lou fill the crease. Not many options it would seem.

Didnt know that was official
But the Sharks and soon to be Lightning are in that cluster of teams that have had really really good teams but just couldnt win. One of them is going to mortgage their entire future to try and get that 1 cup. |

What goes unsaid about Svechnikov is this kid at 16 yrs old backchecked hard. Not hair on fire but this kid understands a 2 way game, and wants to be that kind of player, and this was at 16 yrs old.
Kid will not just be a very good hockey player but a beast.

Was reading the other day that's Wilson's MO. Signs his stars a yr before they hit FA. Burns, Martin Jones, Thorton when he wasn't 47 yrs old, Vlasic, Marleau when he was a Shark and now Couture.
|
|
|
|
Dehaan -3 shoulder surgeries, big upcoming contract, time in coach's doghouse, present club letting him go
Why are we even talking about him? Hopefully Bowman has dismissed these thoughts too. |

A little update.
I’m told Q wants a defensive defenseman and “he’s probably going to get what he wants.”
All quiet on the Hossa front for now. - mrpaulish
You know what, f*%# Q . This is a hard cap world, you get what you get and make it work. But we all know better than that, Q will doghouse any player that doesn't fit near perfectly.
GMs GM, coaches coach. Any deviance from this and you have a last place club.
Again, this is not Q's or StanBow's fault, it's Rocky's. He's counting on Shovel Face to figure this out?

It ain't easy to win a cup, man. That's why GM's sell their first born at the TDL if there's even a sniff of one. Gotta have stars (and identifying a core) to win a cup, health, fit perfectly into the soon to be cap hell window and a lotta luck. Taking care of your stars could be thought of as the first step to getting a cup.
We as Hawks fans are spoiled.

I know. Thats what im saying. All the cautions draft well dont blow the salary cap Gms are fine and dandy. Someone is going to trade prospects and pics and take on salary and sign 7x7 for JVR because they have not won yet

Kid is going to be a star in the league. No doubt in my mind. The Habs are going to regret not taking Zadina. He is another young kid who plays a two-way game. You see that kid at the combine? He already has sound base and add some professional strength training and he is going to a monster on the ice. |

DeHaan would be a nice pick-up at the right price and term. With so many teams going after him, I feel he is going to be way overpaid for too long. |

Was just reading about the Doughty deal and its ramifications. Great joy reading about the Preds' situation with Josi and Ellis!! Stevie Y IMO has been the best GM at managing the cap. Stamkos and now Hedman: https://sports.yahoo.com/...eans-kings-233559556.html
Considering how the Ottawa Senators bought out Alex Burrows for relatively minimal savings, it sure feels like Erik Karlsson’s days are even more numbered after Doughty set a new standard for what a top defenseman could/should make.
(That smile you can almost feel is from GMs who signed their gems to better bargains earlier. As usual, Steve Yzerman is doing so, in this case thinking of Victor Hedman‘s $7.875M through 2024-25. Assuming everyone sticks to the plan, the Arizona Coyotes must be relieved that they chiseled something out with Oliver Ekman-Larsson before this deal was signed.)
It’s not just Karlsson who should be nodding in approval.
Despite this signing taking a big name out of the potentially robust 2019 Summer of Defensemen (and really good Columbus Blue Jackets), there are other interesting names. Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis is probably rubbing his chin thinking of what he might do with his megabucks, assuming his mountain man beard would permit it.
This deal could reverberate beyond the 2019 summer, too. Someone like Roman Josi (sorry Predators fans, it was a good run with cheap defensemen) must be smiling ear-to-ear to see that Doughty didn’t take a big hometown discount to stay in Los Angeles.
Oh, and thanks to how this may impact the future of Karlsson and others, the Doughty deal could also expedite the process for some big trades to stay ahead of the cap game.
In other words, this contract is almost as big for the rest of the NHL as it undoubtedly is for Doughty and the Kings. Will Los Angeles end up regretting this investment?

I've said it before, why the hell would you want every damn player off of the Cane's.
They suck, and haven't been a serious playoff team since they won the cup.
I just don't get it. |

Love Hammer, he isn't worth 5 m a year any longer.
2 yrs though, probably doesn't hurt AZ much. I'm sure he's a good mentor and example for all the youngsters who will be coming up over the next few years, so probably OK for them to overpay him a bit.
Good for him, especially as he's the only one I remember giving the Hawks a hometown discount to stick around longer during the cup years. |
