Hi Wolf, love ya, but when Scotty came over from Detroit he backed Hossa so McD made Tallon sign him. So technically Tallon signed him, but he had and agreement with Havlat that he had to back out of. I'm more of a Dale guy, but I have to admit that the guys who say no Hossa no cups are much more right than wrong. Score one for Scotty there.

Don't think this is even arguable, is it?

WoW. I was wrong. Oh god....yea that's pretty impressive.

That what gm do don't give up assets to clear space you an hockey trade. Looks like a another boring day with no information on what the hawks will do. Tavaras ti toronto is my guess has the team to win even though they defense not a center.

#Leafs among the teams to express interest in centre Derek Ryan. They haven’t made a firm offer (hello, Tavares) but he’s sitting on multi-year offers from #Flames and a Central division team. Detroit and Columbus also believed to be in the mix.

“a central team” ?

- mrpaulish

Probably the Blues. They have no centers except Schenn. And two prospects expected to make the jump. Berglund, too. but he only scores against the Hawks.

I don't think NYI is out of it, they are just allowing him to test the market ala Tavares. They have some nice young Dmen in Pullock, Pelech along with Leddy and have 6 mil per tied up in Boychuk.

If it were me I would have resigned him awhile back but we are talking about the Snow GMed Isles. Would have thought Lou would have gotten that done before the price went up.

- Mr Ricochet

The Islanders not having a goalie is a huge problem for them. I know breaking news right??lol.

The Sharks should be the obvious choice but the California taxes on money like that is no joke. Canadian income tax is more harsh than California ? Maybe home is where the heart is for Tavares and he stays on the Island , in Brooklyn whatever. the Isles do have talent on the way but no goalie.

Hopefully this decision is made soon

Count me as jealous, BIG time. Wahlstrom AND Dobson falls to him at 11 and 12!!! You kiddin me. It was said he was gonna move one of those picks but once he saw these two drop to him he said, I'm good thank you very very very much. And Bode Wilde in the 2nd rd and maybe the best goalie in the draft in Skerek in the 3rd rd! Yes, I'm very very jealous.

My point about waiting was on De Haan not Tavares. Mr P makes a solid point IMO why didn't the Isles sign De Haan themselves. I agree but in no way does that do anything to De Haan's value IMO.

- Mr Ricochet

Re: DeHaan - have a friend who’s a big NYI fan. DeHaan had 3 shoulder surgeries and missed a big chunk of time. He’s a solid top 4 guy, but continually in the Snow dog house. Snow apparently would take a disliking to a guy and that would be it. So no effort by them to resign under Snow. They also have a lot of solid D in their pipeline and viewed him as expendable. Lou mai have felt otherwise but he’s likely been a bit distracted by JT and it may have been too little too late for the player by then. My friend says DeHaan would be a solid pick up.

Daley and Kempny are other prime examples. I want a news writer to ask Q..."Hey Coach, Michael Kempny and Trevor Daley were routine scratches for you, but went on to help their next team win a Stanley Cup....WHY?"
- kwolf68

Daley played 29 of the Hawks 31 games. Daley missed 2 games with a neck injury (Knee to the head) and wasn't a healthy scratch. He just wanted more ice-time and I believe he didn't want to play the Hawks system in their own end so he wasn't getting the minutes he wanted. Mistake or not, I think the coach also couldn't let a player walk all over him.

Not every player fits with every team or coach and buys into the system. That's just part of the game. Stan made a crap trade on Daley but at least he got a good deal shipping out a pending UFA who was gonna walk in Kempny.

Cam Ward will sign a 1-year deal with Chicago #Blackhawks.

More confirmation.

That wasn't a hockey trade. The Habs get a useful player in Armia, 2 picks and a potential asset in Mason for a AHL D-man drafted in the 6th round.

Did not know De Haan has has THREE shoulder surgeries. Any idea how far apart they were and if it was the same shoulder all 3 times?

And yes, agree with all who say Lou has been busy in his 2 weeks as an Islander. Think he's following Tavares around from state to state.

I'll take a shot and say Tampa. Best situation tax wise and good young talent. If Tavares wants to win and cash in as well as he can that's the daily double.

Agree. Hossa is a rare breed and a mans man in the way Peter Forsberg was and Getzlaf is. Throw Doughty in there too..... I would pay to watch Hossa backcheck. One of the few who skates harder coming back than going forward that I've seen.

The problem with DeHaan is the money he is going to want and term. He is a solid #4. Him having 3 shoulder surgeries would keep me away from him though.

I wouldn't call him PMD. He is more of a shutdown type. Be nice to have but those injuries are worrisome.

The ripples from that could lead to some decent pickups in trade as they make room for the $11M equivalent in salary. And I know a team in the other conference who would gladly help put. For a price.

Zawaski

A little update.

I’m told Q wants a defensive defenseman and “he’s probably going to get what he wants.”

All quiet on the Hossa front for now.

They sign Tavares and some of that young talent is gonna have to be moved. They are 74M for this season already. Moving Callahan isn't going to do it alone. Next season Kucherov and Point are going to need new deals plus they only have 1 NHL D-man under contract after this season.

Crawford for Wahlstrom and a 2nd. They get their goalie and the Hawks roll with a Cup winner in Ward. Makes Hossa's contract irrelevant for at least 2 seasons.
