Well I got scolded and corrected for some things that said about Crawford - clearly they were my opinion as I said that on the website Stern you can say whatever you, more or less, as long as you state it is your opinion. Free speech. Throwing up inaccurate troll picture which does not apply to me is....well you can decide the maturity level of an adult who does that again but inappropriately. I just consider the source and blow it.off. This just puts it in your face then.i can walk away from it

Concerning Crawford and speaking only from the point of view regarding a concussion, the severity of it is unknown. With a goaltender I would suggest the need to be especially careful he is fully recovered. Then getting into game shape.....hard to count on him for the entire season. The Blackhawk ate protecting his and their rights by not revealing anything regarding his personal situation. Understood

Am I the only one here who would gladly take Conor Sheary for a fourth round pick? Surprised that's all PIT required.

It’s Marty Turco all over again.
- TommyHawk

And let me stand up and say this was another I was wrong on. Thought as a 35 yr old who had a solid career as a #1 had enough left to spell Crawford taking 25 starts. He was Dallas' starter the yr before and took 29 starts for the Hawks behind a very good defense and team in 10/11 and put up a sub .900 SPG.

Is this Cam Ward 2.0? As an aside both are very similar in size and especially style.

Turco the yr before he came to the Hawks was 22-20, .913 SPG in 53 starts as the starter for Dallas.

Ward as a 33/34 yr old took 43 starts, 23-14 with a .906 SPG.

I'm not against Ward depending on WHY the Hawks want a #2 just making an observation.

EDIT: Turco had a .913 SPG the yr before with DAL not a .923.

There you go. I didn't listen to Jay's stuff but he's usually pretty bang on.

If so, I would realistically expect a 2-year deal at 5M or so.

I would prefer 1-year but doubt Ward's camp would.

If they have a verbal, then expect the Hawks to move a goalie to make room fairly quickly before the UFA market floodgates open with the goalies listed in my blog.

- Justin Lowe

A 2 yr deal at 2.5 per, correct? Who do the Hawks have besides Forsberg that another team could actually want in a deal besides Forsberg?

I'm right there with you.

The thought of Ward does not scare me as much as a lot of other folks.

It wasn't just Sheary for a 4th -
Sheary was the sweetener for Buffalo to take Hunwick. It's exactly like Teravainen was the sweetener for Carolina taking Bickell except the Hawks got a 2nd and 3rd back.

That's just a guess ya.

They have a lot of defencemen that I suspect could be dealt alongside a Forsberg. There is always the picks/prospects angle too.

This will be the off season that finally does Stan in. Cam Ward is not my idea of a solid 1B. I would rather spend money on D and let Forsberg work through the growing pains. Odds are good he gets claimed if they try to send him down.

The reason why they haven't talked about Crawford is because of his enrollment in a drug recovery program with the league for alcoholism. As they are not at liberty to talk about players in that program, that is why they are staying hush just using the concussion and broken vertebrate that happened over last Christmas break as a way to drag out not saying anything about the drinking problem. I believe Crow will be back (and should be healthy by now), but the drinking is a serious issue and that is why Stan unfortunately is going to have to acquire a more suitable 1B than Forsberg because they need a good insurance policy for Crow.

Anyone know the REAL deal with Crow? I've been out of the loop but have also seen some of you guys implying it's not vertigo/concussions. Drugs? Someone give me some insight!

Like we do not have enough 5' 8" depth wingers (and at a cheaper price).

Nobody knows. Vertigo from concussion issues? It does not matter anymore. Hawks have a serious issue in net. Cam Ward is not the answer. Stan is panicking and he should just really focus on acquiring D help. Wasted money on Cam Ward.

I don't. But I don't commit one dollar elsewhere until I secure D help. If they have to over pay then fine. I would be fine throwing all that money at D and going with Forsberg.

Ah, so you're totally okay with potentially missing out on improving other areas in the roster because they waited too long. Got it.

Absolutely no one on these boards knows and anyone who claims is lying / rumormongering from unreliable "sources".
