On a 3 year 5mil a year deal I take Maroon over Perron.

Perron is kinda useless when he hits his slumps. Maroon at least still hits and fights. I also think I rather have Maroon in the playoffs.

Maroon is also a great character guy.

Perron comes with a long history of injuries though. I don't love either player, but I'd give the edge to Maroon because of his size. Devils don't need another undersized winger who can be pushed around IMO.

Todd, what do you think about Demelo not being tendered? Realize he's another RHD, but any chance you see him as an option as a 5/6?

While small Perron doesn't get pushed around a lot.

My biggest issues, were when he hits a wall he hits it hard. He's not just a guy who doesn't do anything he actually hurts you as he doesn't shut the (frank) up. He's the type of guy that would take penalties or just piss of the other team. Which forced us to play Gazdic as we needed someone to back up Perron's mouth

What they do need is a gifted offensive player on the right side.

Perron is a wussy. We already lack toughness, letting Maroon go is stupid.

If Maroon wants 5x5 I think you have to be careful. He's a guy that never took off-season's that seriously. He started to and hopefully he continues, but one bad off-season or long layoff and he could be a pretty bad contract.

That would be fine, as 3.5 isn't hard to deal with. Does he do that though?

or 7 yrs... Im sure players would love longer deals at the age he is at. Brings stability and assurance you'll have a paycheck.

If he loves NJ, which is great to raise a family in, I think he could be interested.

problem with that offer is he' only going to make 21mil over 6 years while he probably could get a 4yr deal worth the same (4yr-5.5mil)

Ya I know, but thats why I said he'll get paid for 6, 7 yrs. No one can tell the future, but what if he career hits a low an no one will offer him 2 mil when is 4 yrs are up? Or injured and he cant play ?

Im sure Shero wont do anything stupid because he said Nico and Halls contract will be very important to deal with.

You overpay for JT, Doughty those game breakers. You dont overpay for Maroon. If he wants to be overpaid let him be someone else's problem.

I agree that's why I would let Maroon go if he wants more than 3years and 4mil a year ......which means he's walking

With guys like JQ, Joey Anderson, McLoud and possibly lappin all battling for a spot I would say let Maroon walk. Never thought I would say it but there’s going to be a logjam at forwards.

Whats up with JQ. I feel like we've had him forever and he never made the team.Is he the real deal or another dud ?

He just turned 22, 80 points in 101 career AHL games. Hasn't done much in his 14 games played in the NHL over the last 2 years but I still think he deserves a look. Top 6 level is a long shot at this point but who knows, I'm too much of an optimist to say never. If he's gonna be given a shot on the team Hynes can't stick his a$$ on the bench if he makes one mistake.

That he is. Still worth a shot.

If the Devils are looking for RW help on the cheap, I wouldn't be completely against Rieder. Pretty reliable bottom 6 guy.

Completely agree on Rieder. Not sure what we do with Duclair but ultimately that's for the coaches to figure out. I'd take a flyer on one of these guys or even NailYak.
