His shot is hard and accurate, especially the snapshot, which is his preferred all-situations shot.
- wiz1901

IMO Boqvist's snapshot is elite and as a goalie found it to be the most difficult to deal with along with the backhander. If the release is quick and the shot sizzles you rarely get your feet set especially if the shooter, as Boqvist does, changes the angle of the release.

That snapper he got off vs Canada's Rodrigue shows a goalie usually moves only once the shot is past or on him. IMO his snapper is freakish in the Bickell mold and he will add much more strength.

Really what the % of faceoffs for smaltz and AA compare to bozak. Also bozak is a good pk guy and same offensive ability as AA if not better. He also takes off the pressure off of towes which wouldn't have take all key draws. Is bozak worth 6 million no but 5 yes for 3 years. Hawks go into next season with AA and smaltz at center IMO will have the same results of this past season.

Bozaks are loved by the Q's and Babcock's of the world. 3 zone players that are predictable.

Brodziak is pretty far down my list of centers I'd want. If his role was to be a checking/shutdown center the last few years, he wasn't that good at it - terrible shot suppression / goals against numbers. Got more assists last year because the Blues had to move him up the line up after the Stastny trade but I don't think that production is repeatable. Not the worst pickup, not Bouma levels of do not want, but there are other guys I'd prefer.

Ugh this UFA class is just so lacking everyone of quality is going to be inflated.

- L_B_R

Yes - who is truly out there as a UFA that will not command crazy money?

Brodziak, Winnik, Riley Nash, Tim Schaller, Filppula and Cullen.

RFA land is full of breakout contract people who also want to get paid, and if decent, will join crazy money land as well.

At an asking price of $6MM....have to move AA, and likely not upgrading much but the cap hit - still needing another center.

This first shot at having some cap space in a while means one guy like Bozak/JVR and a guy like Faulk is all they can add, and that isnt near enough to cure the woes. Especially with guys like Schmaltz looking to get paid next year.

Focus on mid to low mid level guys a tier above the Duclairs of the world who have proven skills and are little longer in the teeth, but cheaper and more willing to play for shorter term deals.

Did not know that, but makes sense. A level headed, non-confrontational, informed poster.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm a mister, though, for the record. Lots of great posters on these boards by women, men, and from all walks of life. Enriches our conversations!

Agreed, Scott. Most organIzations have a backup who is seasoned and ready AND a kid or vet on the farm in case of the disaster the Hawks saw last yr.

An example would be WPG with Pavelic. IIRC 2 yrs ago they had Hutchinson as a #2 and HellBoy on the farm and all saw action in the NHL. ....... In other words a legit 3 deep at the position.

i do not fit the description of a troll. If you disagree with someone, then man up and say so. No need to be an internet tough guy and name caller. I have contributed often over the years. I also have been quite busy and just read but not posted. I am a Blackhawk fan and often various posters have engaged in respectful dialogue. I have even had a couple of compliments over the years.

I am asking the moderator right here, now, to warn you for throwing up that troll picture. It is improper and not keeping with the rules if conduct.

Hughs could always go the collage free agent route if he does not want to sign with Vancouver and wants to play with Kane its a possibility.
- Scott1977

That would be awesome but I dont think Hughes would disrespect the Canucks like that. Hes not a crybaby like the Hayes’

Hughes is too great a talent and too close to the NHL and payday to sit outside of his dream - the NHL - for three seasons.

Reading JJ's twitter notes regarding Chaput. JJ thinks he could be an option as #4 C. Guy is good at the dot and could be a PK type as well.

If we are looking for a 4C or 4W with edge and energy, let's re-sign Wingells. I thought he played the best given his hockey skills. Said another way, he did more with less than anybody else and you knew what you were getting shift in/out and night in/out. Predictability and consistency is hard to come by!

Same. Duclair too, but let Jerko walk. 2-way deal for Chaput would be preferable tho.

If Im not mistaken, if we didnt do the Duclair deal, wouldnt Panik and his contract be on the books in '18 for $2MM? So we took a flyer on Duclair.....didnt work out. BUT, we rid ourself of the Panik $$ in '18. all in all, worked out net positive - Thoughts?

He had the possibility of being a solid banger on the 3/4 line. Guy has good wheels, but iffy hands. Stan way over paid on that last contract he gave Panik.

I don't know if it is fair to just call him a 13th forward, but he wasn't consistently effective and certainly didn't have a complete game. I was never a fan of his Hockey IQ on the ice when the Hawks didn't have the puck.

In the interest of correcting some information you used to support your suspicions about Crawford, those arrest reports were not about the Blackhawks' Corey Crawford, but some other dude. Thought you'd want to know.
