AA salary is perfectly in line for what he is. Pageau isn't worth all that. Hell, they would actually be doing Melnyk a favor trading Hossa's contract to the Sens.

IMO, moving Hossa's contract would nice but it isn't worth giving away assets to accomplish.

- Elbows15

AA is basically a 3C that can play 2C if needed. Pageau is about the same, and makes $1.5M less.
Look at Hossa separately. You wouldn't be able to trade just Hossa without adding a pick or a prospect.

Anyone able to tell what Chaput brings to the lineup?

With Luke Johnson strong season I sugg St zkero and Johnson was one too many depth defensive forward. Defensive fir arrs first of all, with midest offensive ability.

Jeff Skinner controlling where he’ll eventually end up. Turned down a few trades #canes

As always, the player with a NMC has all the power.

Happily take a punch people in the face guy for Kero who has been passed up.

At least we know the phones at 1901 W Madison are working.

- mrpaulish

Hilarious... But my concern is the people on the other side of the phone. Those that can't seem to get there heads out of there @ss

The Hawks just got AHL depth and sent Kero somewhere he might have a shot of playing. They've done this with many of the prospects that don't cut it for the Hawks and it's part of why they're a respected org.

Defensive Center, can score in the AHL but not NHL. Can PK, isn’t a wrecking ball but not soft either.

Panarin dream my friend. I don't see Stan ever doing that because that would be an admission of a mistake. ....a HUGE one at that. That should have cost him his job !!
- Hawkytalk

Then shouldn’t he have been fired after trading back Saad?

I do not think this guy will play a game for us. He is an RFA. My guess is that he will either be flipped or let go. We need to offer contracts this week to one or both of our RFA forwards (Duclair, Jurco) leaving us pretty close to 50 so I think we will leave this new guy hanging at least until after the UFA period.

Except AA produces at a 2C level. Something Pageau has never done. Moving Hossa's contract isn't that important. Unless its the right to Clendening.

wondering if stan tries to get Bozek and JVR as the "elusive" #2 center, sign Lehner, and cole.

would like deHaan, but not sure stan ponies up for that

Trading fringe NHLers in both cases. A total nothing trade. I guess someone in one of the two organizations sees something in the other player. Whatever, a big snore

No need for Cole. How many bottom pairing d-men are the Hawks going to collect?

Pass on both of those guys. Let them become UFAs unless some team wants their rights for a 7th. Neither bring anything worth keeping or they don't have in other players.

Now we can see more clearly how the next few years probably shake out. It is not all bad but Rocky needs to temper his expectations if, indeed, he is somewhat disallusioned with their performance last year. It may be that he is or upset with the effort from his top playerss last yeat than anything else.

Bowman does not appear too concerned as we heard little about them actually close to trading a draft choice. A very likely outcome came about after they made inquiries, maybe some offers but were rebuffed.

- jhawk59

This was my #1 takeaway from the draft. I was really concerned Stan was in survival mode and would jeopardize the future for band aids to help next yrs flawed club.

Regardless of whether one agrees with Stan's draft for me the players taken were better than sacrificing a prospect or two to help for next yr. For that I'm thankful.

don't want cole, just thinking that is who will be billed as the next hammer. don't want Lehner either, but can see the proclaimation that they signed a second starting goalie to ease Crow's load

Kero sucks as well. kinda even. Same level of NHL ability. Could provide security at Rockford for the up and comers

I am aware of what Kero is as a player. I was trying to temper some posters from making line-ups with Chaput in them.

Couldn't carve out time in Vancouver. I don't see the logic for either GM.
