Annnnnd. . .

Rocky rolls back his comments: http://www.chicagotribune...haugh-20180622-story.html

For those of us hoping for change behind the bench or in the FO, it was not encouraging, to say the least.

On the Crow front, the fact that none of them can say with 100% confidence that he will at least enter training camp this fall is a major red flag. Why would another team trade for him unless there is a doctor's clearance we've yet to hear about?

Maybe so Hawk...I loved 2013...NO they were not as nasty as the 2010 group, but they could skate your ass out the gym. 2015 I hate to say it had the feel of the last run for some old warriors. Keith's finest moment in the sun. I am still in disbelief at his performance that year. One of the greatest defensive performances I have ever witnessed. But Duncs can't do that anymore....he needs help.
- kwolf68

That really was amazing. Had Crow not had such a rough outing vs NSH he would have been in the conversation for CS. I'm pretty sure Keith was a unanimous choice that year.

Carolina needs scoring we need defense more would have to be added on hawks side but that's only way Debricant would be moved. It won't happen seeing the hawks need young top 6 forwards plus Tkachunk would be a nice add to the top 6 forwards.
- Scott1977

Absolutely, trading for a number 5 overall pick in his respective draft class for a guy that was taken 39th overall, wouldn't make sense. The Hawks would need to sweeten the pot a bit, unless they want to return the favor for the TT & Bickell trade. The Canes will need another scoring winger especially if Skinner leaves. I don't think this trade would happen, but in an alternate universe, it would game changing for the Hawks.

Wasn't Schneider traded for 9th pick overall (Bo Horvat)?

Yes, you are correct.

I found his comments about Crawford in this interview worrisome.

For the right return (not saying that is) it absolutely could happen. I like both, but neither are Wayne Gretzky and that guy got traded.
- kwolf68

Schneider isn't the right return, though. He's turning 33 soon and while that is not old for a goalie, he has been been declining the last two years even as the team in front of him has gotten better, which makes it much more risky. I'm really fond of Schneider in general but Forsberg actually had a better sv% last season than him.

The longer it has played out, the more it feels like post-concussion symptoms and Vertigo are more so a red herring.

Hopefully the guy gets past whatever it is.

Why? All he said was that Crawford was on a normal offseason schedule. He didn't mention anything else really.

The difference is, Keith and Seabrook were essentially at the pinnacle of their careers as elite NHL d-men, and Hammer and Oduya were veterans that Q trusted. These baby Hawks are still getting acclimated, and it’s much harder for them to get comfortable because as soon as they make a mistake, back into the press box they go. That’s exactly what Kempny reiterated as to why he was having success and found comfort in Washington. He was actually given a fair shake and didn’t have to worry about playing mistake-free hockey the way these Hawks do with Q breathing down their necks. Either Q has to adjust his playing style and let these guys get comfortable in their roles, or be shown the door for his stubbornness and how he simply rode the coattails of the successful core right into the ground without developing any of the future contributors. Murphy, Rutta, and Goose have what it takes to be solid everyday d-men. As much as it is on them to do what’s asked of them, it’s just as much on the coaching staff to give them the opportunities to improve. Hopefully, first and foremost we see continuity this season on the backend and Q and his blender slow it down.

The place to develop is not in the NHL, unless you are a bottom feeder team and can accept your young players making mistakes at the NHL level. Keith would be an example of someone who developed at the NHL.

The place to develop is the AHL. That’s why this is all on Stan, as he fed Q a bunch of prospects, misfits, & never will bes, and expected him to coach them into a playoff team.

The problem is Stan, not Q.

It is both. Here is one vote for Stan 65%, Q 35%

They won two Cups with the prospects, has beens, etc...so no, not exactly. Plenty of blame to go around but I don't think one guy is left holding the bag.

Player responsibility is not factored in this, though it is certainly part of the problem too.

Hasn’t been on the ice, I don’t know if they have any idea where he’s at.

I wonder how much Lindholm wants that a team desperate for centers isn't willing to give. Lindholm would be a good pick up for any team - defensively strong, great on the PK, excellent in transition and passing, and up up 44/45 points the last two seasons.

Bowman said the opposite of that last part though - he said Crawford is progressing as normal for the offseason. And he specifically said that Crawford typically starts doing on ice stuff in July, like most players, and that he's on schedule with everything else.

It's mostly a non-answer in terms of details but there was nothing that should worry anyone.

That's not actually what he said either lol. He said he likely wouldn't make a trade before the draft.

It's from that same interview linked before with the Crawford comments. Boyle asks specifically "Do you think you will make any trades before the draft tonight?" Bowman replied "That's unlikely. Never want to say never, but nothing is eminent."

You'd think a journalist could transcribe an interview better than that tbh.

I don't like that lineup AT ALL, that's a bottom 10 D...UNLESS Seabrook finds the fountain of youth and Gus, Rut, and Murphy step up (which theoretically could happen).

I am interested in Blake Hillman. I know he's not a big time prospect, but was it ME or did anyone else notice how calm he looked in his own zone. He was able to withstand a strong forecheck and work the wall. Most of our guys were like poodles surrounded by Mike Vick's fighting dogs in their own zone. Hillman wasn't like that. I want to see more from him.

Quenneville says all reports have been positive about Crawford. He hasn’t been on the ice yet.

Q said Corey Crawford is making progress and should be fine for training camp. He hasn't been on the ice yet, but Q expects him to come to Chicago to join the other Blackhawks in town "soon."

But, didn't we hear off and on all Spring that he was getting on the ice?
