Doesn't matter. He was traded as where MANY OTHER players who were way better than either Schmaltz or DinkyCat.

Again, I like them both, but if someone offers up a top 4 D, a forward prospect and a high pick I'm moving em.

Neither DeBrincat or Schmaltz are being moved. You don’t trade away your best very young players. DeBrincat lead the team in goals as a rookie. Top 4 D? Forward prospect? High pick? Absolutely not. What teams dream about are very young players that have already proved they can play in the NHL. You try to obtain those you don’t trade those. In any event there is no possible way that DeBrincat or Schmaltz get moved.

LOL whatever dude. I am sure they won't get moved, but not because it's not possible. PK Subban was traded, Ryan Johanesen was traded, Taylor Hall was traded, the list goes on and on and on.

You'd be a fool to turn down a Top 4 D-man (proven), a top prospect and a high pick for a 5'7 winger or a smallish center who can't win draws. Actually NO ONE would OFFER that, but if someone did, the trade would happen.

Your level of certainty is astounding in light of historical references.

Coverage starts at 6:30 central, on NBCSN. The time between picks 1 and 8 will be the longest of our lives. The time between picks 8 and 27 will also be brutal.

I would almost be tempted to trade both to Carolina for Haffinan.

This!! I love when people are so certain a trade/move can or cannot happen. Again most likely not going to happen but for that haul, I'll pack their bags and take them to the airport myself!

The difference is, Keith and Seabrook were essentially at the pinnacle of their careers as elite NHL d-men, and Hammer and Oduya were veterans that Q trusted. These baby Hawks are still getting acclimated, and it’s much harder for them to get comfortable because as soon as they make a mistake, back into the press box they go. That’s exactly what Kempny reiterated as to why he was having success and found comfort in Washington. He was actually given a fair shake and didn’t have to worry about playing mistake-free hockey the way these Hawks do with Q breathing down their necks. Either Q has to adjust his playing style and let these guys get comfortable in their roles, or be shown the door for his stubbornness and how he simply rode the coattails of the successful core right into the ground without developing any of the future contributors. Murphy, Rutta, and Goose have what it takes to be solid everyday d-men. As much as it is on them to do what’s asked of them, it’s just as much on the coaching staff to give them the opportunities to improve. Hopefully, first and foremost we see continuity this season on the backend and Q and his blender slow it down.

TommyHawk - Nice Points. What made it even crazier for the young D, actually all the D, was the fact that the Offensive Defensive System was a total freakin’ mess. We don’t actually know how good or poor the D are as this System was so ridiculous it was creating odd-man breaks constantly from the D actually doing exactly what Ulf was demanding.

Seabrook, who obviously thought the System was ridiculous actually tried to play safely, to play responsibly. His reward? He got sat out for the first time in his career. Next game back in? There was Seabrook deep in the opponent’s end just as Ulf was demanding surely all the time thinking whew this is so stupid.

Thought after the absolute tire fire that was last year Q and Ulf should’ve been fired.

What do you think would be the asking price for Boon Jenner?

I wonder if the Hawks could work out a deal to land him.

That is what pi$$es me off about these made for TV events. Everyone knows who Buffalo will pick, yet they will use the entire time they are allocated. Once they are on the clock, the pick should be in. In fact, the pick should be in already! Hurricanes are on the clock!

PK Subban was traded because he had made everyone in Montreal crazy and everyone despised him. Ryan Johansen was traded because he acted like a complete ass in Columbus, held out and was fat and refused to get into shape. Hart winner Taylor Hall was traded by Peter Chiarelli the worse GM in NHL history - enough said. These players don’t get traded in a vacuum. While it is true that legally any player CAN be traded that doesn’t change the probabilities of it happening.

However, if what I think is impossible actually happens and DeBrincat and/or Schmaltz gets traded I’ll tip my hat. Same for Kane.

Who is this "Wayne Gretzky" you speak of? Was he any good?
- Hank3Henshaw

Probably the only deal in any sport where a generational player got traded and his former team wound up winning a championship soon after.

CHI Get:
Cory Schneider
Michael McLeod
2nd round pick (2019)

NJD Get:
Alex DeBrincat
Marian Hossa
3rd round pick (2018)

Doubt you'd be willing to unload DeBrincat but it's all in good fun.

- jjtoepfer

I would move debricant for top 4 d man but not faulk hanifin yes

pass on your trade proposal Schneider is like crow getting hurt a lot throughout the season.

Do not disagree, but with the heat coming down from Rocky to see some results, will that mean Q tightens the leash even more on kids? The press box non-sense was a joke. And toward the end of the year, Seabrook and even Keith should have been given nights off. Why play them when there is nothing to play for? You're just putting more miles on their tires and also missing chances for the kids to get in there and learn. With Q, you just NEVER KNOW.

Annnnnd. . .

Rocky rolls back his comments: http://www.chicagotribune...haugh-20180622-story.html

On the Crow front, the fact that none of them can say with 100% confidence that he will at least enter training camp this fall is a major red flag. Why would another team trade for him unless there is a doctor's clearance we've yet to hear about?

Carolina needs scoring we need defense more would have to be added on hawks side but that's only way Debricant would be moved. It won't happen seeing the hawks need young top 6 forwards plus Tkachunk would be a nice add to the top 6 forwards.
