Somebody remind Bowman that hockey is a contact sport. He didn’t ever play so I’m not surprised every (frank)ing guy he drafts is 170lbs or Less
- EnzoD

Hockey is trending more and more to a no contact game. I see it every time i ref.

I reffed 10 years in IHOA and as long as body checking is allowed, 175lb defenders will have defensive zone limitations.

Said "we expect"....Crow hasn't been on the ice since 2017, no one has reported a damn thing about him. I am sure Hawks hubris and arrogance believes a healthy Crow can backstop this team to 109 points yet again.
- kwolf68

Yea Bowman sure is a smug pric for being the GM of a team that has not won a playoff series since the 15 Cup in a league where 25% of the league wins a play off series every year.

These may be smart pics but the Hawks are wasting Kane prime seasons.

For the record, Mark Lazerus suggested Nicolas Beaudin a week or so ago as a Blackhawks target.

So the 27th pick was the same as the 8th, just on the left side. Guess we don't need a center?
- SecondCitySavage

Needed a center nope another smurf what a surprise drafted the same position awsome now we have 150 d prospects and no centers goalies ir top 6 wingers in are system yea can please fire this ass clown already wilde samulson noel again ignored size and physical play if iwas a hawk player i would asking for a trade so i don't get my head bashed because we have no push back playera that will have each other back watch bowman goes out and slow footed luci

But that’s 170-175 at 17-18 years old.

At 5’11” or so they they won’t be able to carry 200 lbs. effectively, but they should be able to get to 185 with strength.

They aren’t starting out at 150.

iI forgot...this is my Draftsite profile on Beaudin:

New age defender with good puck movement skills, nice foot speed, good hands and a good stick. Funnels attackers to the side boards, can make the secure outlet pass in transition. Very smart in all three zones. Has a soft touch, and excellent puck skills. Defensively and offensively aware and stays on the right side of the puck. His foot speed lets him control the speed of the game making nice touch passes. He walks the blue line and uses his deceptive snap passes to provide scoring looks. Sneaks downs and makes things happen. Will need to add strength as he develops.

Not sure how everyone else is feeling, but this is a brutally boring draft...where are the trades??

Trading picks for picks is the most anti-climactic thing ever

I find Mr. Bowman's comments about Crawford this week more than a bit insulting. It's mid to late June, and you "don't know " Crow's exact status. Bullroar. I guess he thinks the great fans on this site are idiots to believe comments like that. Again, very insulting to the intelligent hockey fan. And if he really doesn't know, he should be fired.

Another small D with size/skill guys on the board? I dont get it. Not saying our #8 pick isnt highly skilled, but the concussion concerns are legit. You had a serious RW stud sitting there and a sure thing 2 way D in Dobson. Who does Stan take? These small agile skating D are fine, but come playoff time its the D with size who can anchor and clear the crease is what wins.

And they are battling 210+ forwards in the crease and along the boards. How many small defenders can you draft?? Jokiharju, Mitchell, Boquist, #27 too. You need Dmen with size too. bowman sucks and they will be in the lottery again next year.

Justin,

That is fine in the regular season, but playoff hockey is a bar fight in a phone booth. The ice shrinks and size/strength really come into play. As bad as we were in protecting our own net, one would have thought some size mixed with skill was in order.
