Anyone at 17 close to being NHL ready? |
|
|
|
It's the time of year where you just have to trust Ray and the scouts to make good decisions.
Part of me is expecting Lou Lams & Ray Ray working out a trade that sends Cory Schneider to the Island. |

NJ can just take 2 of Minni's 3rd rounders for the picks. Pick up Sandin or whoever falls there.
They should see if they can move up to try to draft Farabee. He's a Shero style winger who can do some damage when he thickens out. He reminds me of Parise or Gallagher... definitely fits into the mold Shero is trying to build. |

This would actually be interesting... for pick 11 or 12.
How about a 3-way... we give them Schneider for pick 11 (Lou can pick Hayton), we draft Farabee, trade pick 17 to Washington for Grubauer lol |

Close? Yeah. I think some guys could be NHLers within 1-2 years. |

NHL Network Radio had one of the top guys for NA Scouting on and he said " after the top 2 picks no one stands out as NHL ready." He also said after 14OA the talent really dips . Of course this means nothing cause guys show up and have a good camp/preseason the team is forced to keep them (Bratt). |

I rather use our 1st round pick in a package for a top 2 Dman. Also would you really trust our defense, the way it is now, with KK and Grubauer? |

Players I would like us to take in the later rounds, every year shero likes to gamble in the later rounds on foreign players, here are a few I think should be picked up in the 4th and below
Bulat Shafigullin - MHL 22 20 16 36, he is undrafted by all other than HOCKEYPROSPECT.COM and FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS, and that has only happened within the past week or so. Grigori Denisenko in the same league has a worse record MHL 31 9 13 22 but is projected to go in the first and top 20 ?.
This kid could be a steal, next up
Ruslan Iskhakov - MHL 33 6 24 30 once again in the same league as Grigori Denisenko in the same position with a better record, and projected to go any where from 57 to 128, and we need right wingers with skill and pace.
Special mention Niklas Nordgren |

Graubauer's put up some gaudy numbers for several years as a backup, so he might be as good as Cory. It's risky because he's never been the man, but it could be a smart move. Younger guy, better contract.... But it's a big gamble and then all you're getting out of it is moving up from 17th to 11th.
Personally, I'd rather do something else with the # 17th pick overall; like draft a player or trade it for a Dman like you suggest. We could fill goal with a decent free agent. I don't really like Lehner but he's been a decent starter and he should be pretty reasonable...

Hey I wouldn't do the move. It would still be interesting.
Think our most likely upgrade is Carlson in the offseason. I don't foresee any major trades from NJ. I could see a trade-down with Minnesota for the 3rd rounders, that's about it (since Shero has no 2nd or 3rds). |

Doubt it. Too much money. I'm not expecting much this offseason honestly. |

Do you guys think tkchuk is nhl ready this season ? And do you feel he has a high enough ceiling being an older player in the draft. I personally love players who play his style. But they are usually gambles... |

I don't see Lou and Shero playing nicely in the sandbox... |

I still think its going to be more about the term for him. Other teams may offer him 8-9mill but only for 2-3 years. Devils may offer him less money but max term. |

Yup, Matt Dumba.......but i know you mean guys like Sandin and such. Sandin looks like the best case scenario in my opinion, but he is small and light, which may be fine, but likely one more year before cracking the lineup. But as Todd mentioned, I would gladly part with 17th for Dumba, who was hands down the Wilds best D man in the playoffs, and put up a lot of points throughout this past season. 22 years old and ready for top pairing minutes. |

He's going to university for next season 100% he said, so whoever drafts him knows he'll be 2019/2020 at the earliest |

I don't get the trading Schneider thing. Coming off of injury and his worst season you can't expect any kind of return. It's not like the team is in cap trouble or anything either. We have some promising guys in the pipeline but nobody ready to be a starter. |
