Todd- thoughts on Bode Wilde or Joe Veleno if they fall to 17? A lot of mocks seem to have them still on the board all of a sudden. |

I still think Berggren or Sandin would be better choices. |

I think the only player I really don’t want is Bode Wilde at this point, keep seeing John Moore comparisons and I think we’ve had enough of John Moore
I really hope Denisenko falls to us but wouldn’t hate taking Miller or even Sandin if we go the D route tbh |

Wilde will almost certainly be there but I think 17 is too high. Don't see Veleno being there. If he is, I'd still go with any of the three forwards I mentioned instead. |

"He finished just behind another winger in Claude Giroux, who was centered by Selke finalist Sean Couturier all season long."
This sounds like you are saying "Giroux had an easier time because he was riding with super Coots"?
Remember, Couturier had a super break out year. Giroux has shown he can do this in the past, so who helped who? Correct answer is both.
You can say Hall had no help, but we all know that is rubbish. |

I need to see more of Berggren. Love Sandin but Miller is growing on me as well. Would be content with either. |

You misunderstood me. I was pointing out two *wingers* finished top-7 in 1st team all star voting for centers lol. Was not at all knocking Giroux. |

Devils need a Defender, but Miller is a offenceman turned D, which hasnt hampered his play, but he needs work on the D side of things. But from what i read about him, he pulls out crazy "forward" moves on the backend that always throws people off guard. |

I don't know. I've watched a few games and his defense seemed just fine to me, especially in the neutral zone. Really good at steering guys wide with his stick and sealing them off. |

Ok thanks for clarification. I read that completely wrong then.
EDIT: Completely missed the last sentence. Remember people who vote just use the NHL video game for reference. |

I think he was making the point that they were both considered centers in the voting despite neither of them primarily being a center this year. |

Do you think we have any serious interest in a player like Dumba ? Would there be a fit and can we afford to give up the pieces required? Whatever they would be. |

No worries! I can see how you would have read it that way. Was not the intention at all, though. |

Bode Wilde is ranked as low as the 60’s by many scouts... |

I'm sure we have interest, but idk if we have enough to get a deal done, especially compared to the assets other teams have that need a d-man(like Toronto). We'd almost certainly get outbid imo. |

Since you guys lucked into Hischier (and we lucked into Patrick), would you consider moving Zacha as the centerpiece in a trade for him? |

I would certainly move Zacha to get him. Obviously it'd cost a couple more prospects and a pick or two to bring him in, but I believe any deal made for a D of that caliber/upside will be centered around Zacha |

Im curious as to what other teams fans think Zachas value is. We seem to be unsure around here. |

I was really hoping for Kravstov. A couple months ago it seemed realistic at 17 but now it seems like he's going to go in the 10-15 range.

I'm not sure. As a young 2C, his production hasn't been terrible, but it's been unimpressive. That could have a lot to do with lack of depth on the wings, though. He seems like a fairly good defensive player, again, given his age.
If they did a 2015 redraft, he'd probably fall in the late teens I'd think. Lots of potential, but not a ton of return (production-wise) so far. I think you could get a late 1st value for him. Unless you are addressing an area of great need, I think you'd be better holding onto him. |

If we traded him now, we would be doing it when his value is low. Unless someone loses their mind and offers something ridiculous for him we should hold him. The knock should be on the Devils for taking him 6th overall, not Zachas fault he was drafted that high, he will be a fine NHL player, just overshadowed by the fact that Provorov, Werenski and Rantanen went right behind him, not to mention Barzal much later. |

I think the Devils saw him as a potential 1st line center, as Henrique and Zajac were stuck in neutral and they didn't have any top-end prospects in the pipeline to take their place. So while I agree that the pick was not a great one, I can see the reasoning. Still a bad pick, though; one which I will be eternally grateful for.
Edit: As much as I hate you guys, props to Hall. Also, you guys lucked out on Miles Wood. I hate playing against him; he's like a modern-day Randy McKay. |
