MacKinnon scored 5 more points than Kopitar while not playing defense or killing penalties and while playing on a line with two other offensive dynamos.

Kopitar scored 5 fewer points than MacKinnon while also winning the award for best defensive forward in the league, while playing on a line with a rookie that finished the season with 25 points, and a player that topped 30 points only once in his previous 5 seasons.

I understand the vote for Hall considering his point streak and his linemates. However, everyone who voted MacKinnon higher than Kopitar is delusional.

Lets not all bring the same bromides in here. Hall was a worthy runner up and we all know the excuses he provides for the hockey writers to rob Mack. Sucks to end the night left dwelling on the politics which made this disgrace possible.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

My God the guy came in close second place. Not everyone can win every time.

No doubt Mackinnon had a spectacular season, but Hall should have, and did win after the season he had.
MacKinnon didn't take Colorado the the playoffs by himself, Hall did.

The only fun in it is feeling good for Devils fans and their first Hart trophy. Have you come to troll that away as well. No argument for Hall isn’t stronger for Mack. Double the game winning goals, double the teams points from last season, and punished for being a center making his teammates exponentially better. In the toughest division in hockey. With 7 rookie starters all season and constant major injuries to the rest of the team. Can only not give this to Mack daddy if you are looking for a reason not to, or perhaps not having looked at all.

Be so very glad you didn’t have to endure those cringeworthy two hours waiting for this lead balloon. Had Mack rightfully won, Devils fans would all be admitting they expected it. Soon as Nathan went bar down to beat the Blues with his 12th GWG in game 82 while Hall sat out and rested it was obvious the race was over. Point streak gimmick doesn’t move the needle against Mackinnon’s outright greatness this season. Without missing a month he wins both the Lindsay and Hart going away.

And no, it’s not a conspiracy. It’s literally the difference between Mack passing up an empty net goal, giving him 40 that nice round number over Hall and the one point extra giving him the higher PPG than McDavid, 1.31 to 1.32.

Everyone is saying Mack had a great season and it's coming off like he was robbed of the award

We can go in circles here

Hall played with 2 rookies to start the season and no one on lands or rants level. Had 40 points more than the next closest player on the devils, and is the only reason the devils sniffed the playoffs let alone make it

Devils were also last in their division the year before

Hall played with torn ligaments in hand since December

Points streak gimmick yeah because those were all gimmie points and had no effect on the games

I mean what Drew F'n Doughty was doing there? 3 points total. The guy was terrible this year as was his team. Geez.

Hall totally deserved the award.

Poor Mack, I thought he should have one but Hall was deserving too.

THe fact that 12 writers didnt have MacK in their top 5...thats wild to me.
Probably one of those nashville nobs that gave Rinne hart votes

Yes, everybody that thinks differently than you is delusional, makes sense. While Kopitar had a great season, look at the support he has, especially with defense and goaltending. There is no Doughty on the Avs, there is no Quick either, and LA's third and fourth lines are much better. Anybody that watched Colorado's entire season knows that the only reason they made the playoffs is because of MacKinnon. Avs defense is nowhere close to LA's and most of the time the forwards have to stay back and bail out the constant giveaways from Barrie and company. Colorado has the youngest team in the league with no winning experience while there are members of LA that have won a cup. Jeff Carter is always there to score huge goals season after season. At the beginning of the season nobody would think it was crazy to suggest that LA would make the playoffs and go a few rounds, nobody thought the Avs would. MacKinnon carried them on his back. No, not delusional.

I'm looking forward to the public reveal of who voted for who. Who voted Staal for the hart in 5th place?!

I think Cassidy shouldn't have been in the top 3, let alone top 5 of coaches.

Gallant was going to be the clear winner and same as McPhee.

You’re not going in circles, you’re enjoying the shock of an upset victory. I’d feel the same. Issue is every argument made for Hall is stronger for Mackinnon. And more. We both know which player will be nominated again in the future. Take the good feels and go with them. If you need the Avs forum for fulfillment, that’s sad.

No real surprise that Hall won. It just had to be him or MacKinnon. I think the difference was ultimately the difference in points between Mack/Hall and their linemates.

Not sure why anyone is whining about this to begin with. I've still got the adrenaline pumping from just watching the strides Mack took this season. Hope to see him come back next year with a chip on his shoulder.
