Bob McKenzie reports the Blackhawks are interested in Caps goaltender Phillip Grubauer. Would likely take a 1st to make it happen. Is 27 enough? Also, what does this say about Crawford's status? - walleyeb1
Bleh, a 1st for a back-up goalie who had a poor showing in his two post season games and is a RFA does not excite me.
If the pick is used as trade bait along with someone like AA, would much rather lure in a top-4 type of d-man. |

Sounds like the Oilers are still aggressively shopping their 10th overall pick in an effort to find some blue-line help.
Would Murphy for their #10 make any sense? - walleyeb1
I think they are looking for an established carrier type, and a right-hander
The future has to be now for them.
The hawks have all does left hander mailmen....and even the rumored Torey Krug availability, well, he's left handier...
I think Dougie Hamiton is too much to expect...The Wild done with Dumba?

I agree but I think he ahas said if the team feels he is worth keeping around he stays and burns off a year on the rookie deal... - wiz1901
Wiz, I see a club drafting Tkachuk bringing him to camp and if he makes them keep him, great. But if not he goes back to BU and is up in March after the NCAA season is over.

I feel for a top 10 pick, they'd want more than Murphy. Don't they want puck moving d-men? - L_B_R
The Oilers traded the Hart winner for a D-Man who is invisible on his own team so anything in possible. Chiarelli is a joke. |

From my earlier 11:30 pm pots:
Oh, and some Dallas fan told me that the Capitals were asking the Blackhawks for the late first rounder for Philipp Grubauer, but I think the capitals feel the islanders are over a barrel and will send their an earlier first their way. |

Yes...absolutely!
Everybody I have talked to has calmed my anxiety of Dobson not developing to a really good player.
and lots to like left at #27 already. - wiz1901
I like Dobson more that each day passes. I see a Klingenberg type in him offesively and he'll probably end up filling out to 210-215 lbs and be more of a guy who can play PK and take tough defensive matchups.
IMO he goes before 8 and a 50/50 chance before Hughes.

JimHawk 159: I hope they don't trade out and down or for an NHLER with the #8...
Me too.
I would become part of the on-line Buzz cabal who wants StanBo gone if he was able to convince McDonaugh that a NHL guy for the pick changes everything.
Stan never made a trade before having to presented to the above.
But this is the future with a strong class...you have to go get that future, because other draft classes may never afford you a chance at mid round to get the type of high end up side to true top line and top pair players for your nHL club. - wiz1901
And at 27 to reasonably get you a legit 2C, top 6 wing or a 2nd rotation Dman with reasonable upside to be a 1C, 1st pairing D or 1RW/LW.
Man I hate the thought of possibly needing shovel face to make a good hockey decision!!

Aside from players bunched from 3 thru 8, not many centers thought to be of high end, so many Dman thought to be high end and are rare right shots you add the volativity of that 4th pick of OTT. They may give it to COL to complete the Duchene deal and Karlsson is in play. If someone else moves into that slot it could funk the thing up a bit.
I still think the key for the Hawks is Boqvist. If he goes before 8 there is no chance a guy they covet won't be there at 8. I'm assuming they covet in this order Hughes, Wahlstrom, Tkachuk, Dobson.
But as you say that volativity could result in the player they have ranked #1 and that makes this draft so damn fun. And as discussed and agreed upon earlier hopefully our GM somehow uses that volatility and uncertainty to his advantage. I just can't stop thinking that this draft could give us an equivalent of a Getzlaf and Perry in rd 1 and the 2nd rd a Saad or Dcat!! .....I'm greedy this morning. - Mr Ricochet
MrR - agreed - I’m so pumped this morning because today has the potential to be remembered as one of the key days in Hawks’ history. Today is that important. Do you think it was purely coincidental that with Kane as Captain Draftee Hughes and just Draftee Hughes ends up at the Worlds sitting next to Kane. I have to think they have Hughes at 1 too. If Hughes is drafted he may play for the Hawks next year, he’s that good, that ready. StanBo and the Scouts must make it happen today. They cannot miss this opportunity. |

I think this means if the Hawks can grab him, Crawford would be trade deadline material. |

What if the Hawks were to convince the Habs to flip #3 for #8 and land one centre in Artem Anisimov and the Habs then send that #8 slot choice with a winger to Buffalo for Ryan O’Reilly?
- wiz1901
This is veeery interesting for the Habs and BUF. Habs get TWO centers and BUF ends up with 2 picks in the top 8 and a Hudon type? ........ In 3-4 yrs BUF will be right there.
Hawks take Kotkaniemi? I like it better for MTL and BUF than I do for the Hawks though as it will obviously take more than the 8th to move to 3.

maybe they get lehner's right back in the deal too. 1A and 1B goalies that Chicago can ride all the way to another lottery pick. would say haha, but despite the poor attempt at humor, i can see this happening |

Stone is a beast who can score. Ideal RW for the Toews line. Smith is a solid #3 C shutdown type. - z1990z
Indeed Stone is the real deal. If the Hawks deal with OTT in any way I think THEY will INSIST Hossa is in any deal. That 5 mil against the cap for 1 mil in real cash for a team having a fire sale and a cheap owner is huge.

Never know from a franchise that traded Hall for Larsson straight up. EDM is gonna be fun to watch in this draft.

Keep hearing that the #FlaPanthers are shopping their 1sr round pick (15th overall). I know some are saying Pacioretty is still in play but Tallon has said he’s open to moving down and acquiring more picks, which is much more likely scenario IMO. #NHLDraft - Stan_Bowman
That made more sense before FLA acquired Hoffman. Buy yea, could see Tallon, and others, looking to add picks in a deep draft.

I think salary would be the biggest obstacle. ROR plus Lehner would be 11.5 million. Cory is only 6.0.
I think there would need to be someone going back from the Hawks. AA? |

He played 76gms and 16min a night on a new team, new system that also was working on him learning the LD position - something hes never done. All that, is true.
Sometimes, when you have to rebuild a players confidence, you dont yo and blindly play him 20min a night, regardless if his play. He went from being a top 4 in AZ, to them acquiring other Dmen and making him a 5-6 defender. Why?? Was he getting screwed in AZ too???? Is he a victim of 2 teams screwing him??
Maybe...he played better in the tourney...and stay with me...because through the course of this year, while his minutes were improved? Overall game inproved?
Keith and Seabrook played in 82, 81gms respectively. Murphy played in 76.
All the other dmen rotated between the 55-30gms. More so when it was realized Craw was out, same as the forwards. And when they wanted to get NHL looks at Hillman and Dahlstrom too, it cut minutes. But Murph played in 76 gms
Hes 25. Never should have been in the NHLas a 20, 21, 22yr old Dman on those AZ teams and I'm certain he has a lot of bad habits and issues that need to be corrected
But I'm sorry he didnt get "treated right" here in reference to more ice time - PatShart
No - simply No. Nothing that Q did benefited Murphy’s confidence. Please. Murphy should NEVER have been playing LD in the first place - that is just Q’s insanity. Murphy should have been treated with respect. He was a clear top 3 - poor, petulant, idiotic Q didn’t like that Hammer was traded so screw with Murphy. Murphy should have been placed with Keith on RD and left there. No instead play Oesterle there backwards instead. Oesterle who couldn’t play in Edmonton a team always begging for D-Men. Oesterle who may not have been good enough to play in Rockford. Not surprisingly Keith had his worst season ever. This is the same Murphy who was named Captain of the USA team at the 2017 Worlds and Assistant Captain in 2018. Would have been Captain but a certain Patrick Kane was there. So everyone else in the entire hockey world is insane except for Q. Wrong!
