Hall will get it just so people in Edmonton really make sure their pitchforks are ready.

He probably would get it if Taylor Hall wasn't a god this year

MacKinnon was awesome this year, but he had way more support on his team then Hall. Hall carried his team by himself, next closest player on his team was a rookie, 41pts behind him.

He might. Should be Taylor Hall though.

Ill always take the player whose going to make those around him better. Rantanen had 55 assists this season, that simply doesn't happen without Mackinnon as his centre. Mackinnon had more points in less games than Hall, the second highest points per game average trailing only Mcdavid. If he played an 82 game season he was on pace for 109 points which would have put him at the top of the league. That right there should solidify it. Mackinnon was the driving force for this team, and this isn't to take away from Hall's season, he was outstanding but Mack is going to win the Hart.

Replace Rantanen's assists with Couturier's goals, take away the per game averages, and you just described Claude Giroux, the guy who finished second in points and carried the Flyers to the 3rd spot in his division and wasn't even nominated.

I feel bad for the Florida fans who will forever die on the hill Barkov is better. Tonight Avs fans get to share the best kept secret in hockey: this is Mack’s world, we’re all just living in it.

Hall carried the team like no one did before. He scored all the big goals, made all the big plays when it counted. He was a machine.

Rigged. Mack was the Avs. He had help but when he was injured the whole team looked lost. Not to mention the division he plays in. Good for Hall but that should be Nates name on that trophh

Mack was and is awesome, but everything you just said can be the exact same thing said about hall, and hall had much less support

Avs had one of the worst record in a long time and ended up with the 4th overall pick.

Avs have one of the best turn around seasons ever and no one on the team wins an award.

You know deep down this bromide doesn't fly. Mackinnon wins going away despite missing a month of play. Only politics could keep him off the stage tonight. Wrong.

Hall played a couple more games but also played since December with torn ligaments in his hand

I'm happy for Hall, and in my own deep down, had reconciled to this possibility and wouldn't wish for any other runner up to rob Mack than him. The sadness comes in being unable to deny that if they won't give it to Nathan after this year, neither Ted Lindsay nor Hart, its simply never going to happen - you would have to be looking for excuses not to. Excited for Devils fans, you earned this, first ever MVP for the franchise. Just sad it leaves us Avs fans having to dwell on larger implications of the politics which could produce such an objectively wrong outcome. Don't bother with the point streak gimmick, we get the excuses. All I can say is Devils fans themselves understand this is a significant upset, and the only joy I find in it will be your own.
