Even if it was O'Reilly straight up for Pacioretty, what are you left with? A team that will most likely finish bottom 5
- obie

If the Habs do this 1 for 1?

They win the trade and get back in the playoffs.

Montreal would be better off having open invitations to fans. ROR isn't going to help much where this team is.
- Glak18

Nope and he'll probably overpay with young assests while they should be doing the complete opposite... He cannot trade himself out of this mess, it's Tavares or keep drafting

O'Reilly's team finished dead last, what makes you think he can pull this bunch of asshats to the promise Land? Without Pacioretty no less!!

O'Reilly is probably the best option out there...still not what the Habs need but it's a start.

...but no, I wouldn't trade the 3rd overall for him.

Every major trade Bergevin makes sets the team back, he has diminished assets in 3 consecutive summers in franchise defining trades!

You keep saying that but they still managed to finish 1st in the division just one season before. The Habs are not a good team and I hate them but I can't see how O'Reilly's acquisition don't help their cause.

The season you are referring too Pacioretty had 39 goals and he's going the other way in the trade with probably more

And Radulov and Markov were also on that team

So you replace them with ROR and Zadina.

Still a hole left on Weber's left side.

Unless Juuulsen or MEte step up.

Juulsen plays the right side...

I see it as a sideways move at best when they should be using Pacioretty to acquire young assets instead of patching it up, no pun intended!

Really?

2nd line C at best that will cost the team assets they shouldn't be wasting... Acquiring a 2nd line C without an actual 1st is wasting assets they can't spare! We obviously have different views on what needs to be done and I get that but trying to trade your way out of this mess will only make the suffering longer! Tavares this year, if not stay the course and try your luck next year with Seguin

Agreed, tank again and draft another center next year.

Kotkaniemi/Zadina this year plus 2-4 centers in the 2nd
2019 1st round center
Poehling

They gotta build their own team. Try to sign UFA meh guys to 1 year deals and deal them at deadline for picks. Comeau can come cheap and likely get a 2nd at the deadline. Beagle etc

Zadina is to me clear choice at #3. It'll be sad if Montreal lets him go.

They mishandled Galchenyuk from day one, like they mishandle most things and he still came out on the losing end when it comes to value

You don't think O'Reilly and Bjugstad are 2nd line C? Who else you got?
