I said many times both would be the ones to be moved . Only I thought they would be moved together for 1 big piece . I like Murphy , was not so excited about Saad . But believe Forsberg will be a good move if Q would just get out of the way ,same with Murphy ..Fire Q NOW !!!

But nobody said Saad was coming back or Murphy to Chicago. There will be a lot of names and rumours flying out next week. I believe when I see one actually happening.

Careful Wiz, he may be Hawk property in a week!!

I started writing these Team assessments on DraftSite so when you click on the team name you not only see the seven rounds of possible mock darft picks I have slotted in there but covered the possibilities of selections and trade downs etc.

I have spent lots of complimentary sentences on Noah Dobson.

There is no indication he cannot be the second best defenseman in this class, after adding to the skinny frame, adding body strength both up and down (which would help defending and in his attacking).

My hopes is that there is a rebuilding club above the hawks in dire need of a long term addition to their defense and there really is no telling what the Ottawa and Montreal or Arizona or Detroit clubs will do if their board get altered by a guy they liked suddenly disappearing.

He is a totally attractive "package" and we have no way of knowing how high the teams above the Hakws value you him.
All the Evan (he'll run your PP) Bouchard is close to ready talk also irks me. He is more finesse than I like. There starts to be these perceptions that the tape measurements lead to the idea of what a "big" defender is.
Seabrook drafted at #14 was always a big defender with plenty of two way pizazz.
I think it naive to allow myself to think Bouchard is a Seabrook like defender, and although both have signiifcant upside, I prefer a forward drop into our laps.

I knew you guys were gonna get me to say something a jinx the Blackhawks!

I had no idea what was coming back ,but thought they would be moved because they did not have no move clauses ,and were in line for big raises .

Don't know about this year ,could be anybody .Probably no body .. Hopefully Q get's moved ,he is the worst contract we have

Bouchard has to remind you of Seabs in some, if not many, ways in Seabs' draft yr. How do you remember it? Maybe even Dobson too?

Like Bouchard, other than both having a big shot, nothing "jumps out" to separate them from their peers except their results and steady play. Good, not great skaters, high IQ, captain material, minute munchers.

Assuming Dobson was a better skater at this stage than was both Seabs and Bouchard, no?

Assuming they are looking at D my guess is skill is a premium and the order they prefer is Hughes, Boqvist, Dobson, Ty Smith/Merkley (although the last 2 not at the 8 slot).

And like you my hope is a forward like Kotkaniemi, Wahlstrom or Tkachuk falls to them. Still a very real possibility they trade out if they like a Bokk, Ty Smith, Hayton, Kravtsov picking up a 3rd 1st rounder or a very high 2nd rounder in a very deep draft.

Lofty to compare any of these guys to Seabs as he’s a giant man at 6’3” 230lbs. He had to have been at least 215lbs when drafted and I think Dobson is like 6’3” 180 and Bouchard 6’2” 195lbs. I’m thinking Hawks will have the chance at one of Wahlstrom, Tkachuk or Kotkamiemi and hope they go with them IF available bc I see a lot of red flags for for Dobson and Bouchard....

You are correct, but:

Can I link TSN articles here? The chart is from Travis Yost, 2015.

Interesting that there isn't much statistical difference between rounds 5, 6, and 7. Round 4 isn't that much better. Good to know when judging value of trading picks for players.

Bob McKenzie: “I can tell you this, Kotkaniemi got multiple votes in the top 5 from the 10 scouts I talked to, same thing with Dobson. Hughes and Bouchard had more than one mention as a top 5 prospect. Boqvist, Wahlstrom, Hayton & Kravtsov, all of them got a mention in top 5.”

McKenzie: “Multiple scouts have Zadina falling out their top 5 now, I don’t think it’s cause he has done anything wrong with his game, but I think it’s cause the centremen (Kotkaniemi, Hayton) and d-men (Boqvist, Hughes, Bouchard, Dobson) have really stepped up.”

(frank) yes. you run up there knocking people out of the way to make that pick if Zadina is there at 8.

Exactly, Dobson and Bouchard are light heavyweights vs Heavyweight Seabs (for the MMA fans). Those guys can only hope to come close to prime 2009-15 Seabrook’s level of play at his imposing size. Here’s praying he’s busting his ass this summer to gain back that step he lost...
