I don’t get why anyone would want to trade a first round pick (7th OA) plus another first (Potential Tanev value) plus b/c/d grade prospects (again Tanev trade) for a player that we can essentially get with only the draft pick (7th). Unless you think you are this one piece away from contending, it’s pure madness.

Ristolainen is a proven top 2 RHD 23 yr old Dman

Dobson will not be a number 2 dman nor will anyone drafted 20-31

8 years would need to be from the Caps. Don't see them doing that.

7 years I would pass on 5 would be the most 4 would be ideal.

- VANTEL

yeah, I know, and I could see the Caps doing it if they can unload Orpik.

i think some of you are in for a shock when Carlson signs somewhere lol.

The only way you get him on a short deal is 1 year and like $15m.

Bob McKenzie on TSN690 says he expects Jack Johnson to get in the neighbourhood of 6M per year, give or take a million. Expects the Canadiens to be interested.

Carlson >> Jack Johnson

From what i have read, Honka is not a favorite of the regime (doghouse). There could be a deal made for an unused asset maybe? As for Speeza, i know that was an older rumour, but that is the type of deal i would like the Canucks to do. Add low cost in terms of assets given up. The bigger deals are un the future. They will want to make a splash with the draft here.

I honestly think the cap going up 2-7 mil there won't be many teams in cap trouble

If rumor is correct Buffalo turned down Tanev and Jake for ROR immediately. They were not that impressed with Tanev obviously.

TOronto have reportedly offered a late first round pick and two not so impressive players for Tanev. Might be overvaluing him currently

- VANTEL

I would consider the TO deal depending on the through in players. This is a deep draft for dmen.

I wouldn't. You can get that same offer at the TDL, might as well see if you can up Tanev's value between now and then. Re-unite him with Edler if you want to get other teams to up their offers.

Tanev is usually babysitting on this roster, he looks much better when he's paired with a legit top 4 dman. Unfortunately, this roster only has 2 of them.

Mine, he's one of the best defenders in the league, which is well documented. Just has the injury bug lately.

"Lately"? Has he had a year without a significant (10+ games) injury?

You have a good point. Pump up some more if you can. Please dont get hurt Tanev though is asking alot of him. But he could be the pre Vancouver 2019 draft deal.

Youre such a poop disturber....this was not an actual offer, rather, a prognostication by The Score as to what a deal might look like for Tanev.

1st (25th overall)
Connor Carrick
Josh Leivo

Buffalo rumor was Mackenzie? i don't recall but slightly more credible - frankly I keep Tanev, Virtanen and the rights to Tryamkin 99 times out of a 100 - Buffalo turned it down because it doesn't match their needs not because Tanev is a undervalued.

Im not sure how that offer helps Buffalo, so why make it?

What does that have to do with Competing? It has to do with giving young guys decent players to play with.

Does OJ have a better chance of putting up better numbers with Stecher or Ristolienen
Does Pettersson have a better chance of scoring with Chaput Sutter Dowd or Ryan O Reilly?
Does Gaudette get more assists with Gaunce Leipsic or James Neal

You just can't send out an AHL roster year after year and say be patient. Are we really that much closer to a cup since Benning took over? Having the worst record in the NHL over the last 4 years tells me no.

The fact is that it is counterproductive in most cases to make any big moves right now. We have years and years of Bo, Brock, Elias, Thatcher to come. One or two years with Baertschi Granlund and Stecher won't destroy anyones career. We are on the right path, now is the time to be patient.

The time for big moves is when our new core begins to enter it's prime. Obtaining big name players right now won't win us a cup and it will cost us resources that could be funneled towards getting more draft picks/young players

Ristolianen would be part of the rebuild . Same was Taylor Hall is part of NJs rebuild .

I personally am not thrilled by the D like Dobson Bouchard. Sorry . I feel very comfortable taking Miller McIssac at 37 and getting something close to the same value. That is my opinion.

If Wahlstom and Kohk is not there at 7 then I am OK at looking at other options
