i think for buffalo to get carlson the overpayment would be worse than Okposo's contract and i am not sure we can afford that for 8 years
- IndianaSabresFan

All it takes is for one guy to buy into the process and I don't believe you're overpaying over the standard UFA fee.

What do you think Karlsson is going to get?

He’d get an 8 year $12.5 million deal.

My bet is he gets 7x10 on his new team. Maybe 10.5. Can't sign an 8 year deal until next summer, I think.

He can sign a new deal on July 1st this year.

He is going into his last year of his contract.

Assuming he is traded is what my statement was based on.

Hopefully no one for the Sabres.

There is no need to.

I would take Karlsson.

His play this year had nothing to do with the foot injury and everything to do with the S*** storm that was Ottawa this year, IMO.

He can sign an 8 year deal with the team he is on by the trade deadline

At least that’s my understanding of it

But I know if he gets dealt this offseason his new team can absolutely offer 8 years.

Ottawa laughs at you.

Botterill wins GM of the year.

Karlsson, Duchene
for
ROR, Nylander, 2019 first, 2020 2nd, Bogosian or Pominville or cap purposes and Bailey/Baptiste, McCabe.

But the team that trades for him, would they even risk going into the year with him unsigned? if not, gotta be 7.

Ottawas GM is awful. He was resigned because he was cheap.

Agreed.

No point in Moulson. WAYYY too early to pull the plug on Okposo. And I wouldn't do Bogo unless you badly needed the money for something else. The longterm ramifications are too bad.

I'm sternly in the bandwagon of Bogo having a bounce back year.

Risto would probably get moved for forward help.

I’d rather make a play for Carlson and use the assets to round out the roster.

- Stripes77

I am fine moving risto if they sign carlson, for the record

I’d like to keep Risto but I can see where he would be moved in this scenario.

Bogo I would understand, Moulson doesn’t make sense. It’s his last year. Why waste dead cap on him next year as well?

July 1st he retires is a better bet.

If Bogo can stay on the damn ice I’m fine with him being an overpaid 4/5 guy, for now anyway.

Well, now there’s rumours Erik Karlsson has requested a trade. Fun.

- gerbe75pts

Not surprised
It’s pretty much been known for a while now that he didn’t want to re-sign there

I don’t wanna trade for him though
Obviously he’s awesome

But we’d have to give up a ton
Plus pay him over 10mil a year
And his lingering foot injury worries me

I’d much rather go after Stone

Moulson- that’s it from us
I’d put the odds at 90%
