I read the previous threads comments last night, had nightmares and realized that full thread should be made into a big budget Hollywood film.

There is such a weird obsession with Schenn here, about what he is or isn't doing. How much he meant or didn't mean to this team. Most of you don't need me here to defend him. I'm not even here most days but if I happen to pop in for a quick second, there is already the same Schenn debate happening this week as six months ago. All of which sounds like most of you rationalizing your own mindset.

I feel like we're getting younger, and the youth is promising but from a team standpoint, we've been the same team the past three seasons. Some players have taken large and positive steps but we haven't taken large and positive steps as a team. It hasn't translated on to the ice yet.

Okay, so let's say Schenn's points were made up. He's a bad player, we don't need him because we have three younger players who can make up those point totals and a Captain who is finally going to redeem himself. Is this group going to make up for Schenn and Simmonds lost production? Are we going to trade for Alex Steen for the picks and a St Louis salary dump and brag about Jordan Weal's ten goals that made up for Simmonds 30?

I liked Schenn, but they got a really good return for him and still managed to make the playoffs without him, despite you acting like they were going to be one of the worst teams in the league. Depending on the return, yeah, I'd be open to trading Simmonds too and he's my favorite Flyer.
