Hoffman is on teh road a lot, that is true. But how could all the wives know about this, and hoffman hear nothing? The team knew, other players wives knew, but he knew nothing.

It's just so unlikely.

- david22

If Caryk felt this strongly about the Karlssons, she would have been mentioning this to Hoffman. You don't harbor that level of rage against someone without talking about it. If it's true - he would have at least known that she HATED them, though i suppose it's possible he didn't know about her online trolling. She could have hidden that from him. Though he may have suspicions.

Women can't shut up about other women they hate. He knew. He knew the whole time. Unless she's a total sociopath. Which, apparently, according to other WAGs, isn't out of the question.

Who knew a NHL team could be tore apart by one player's insane girlfriend. Trading Hoffman is must at this point. Wonder if whatever team makes the deal can throw an extra pick in to keep his girl in Ottawa for the duration of his contract? SENS=Dumpster Fire

The team has far more issues than one insane girlfriend and most of it stems with ownership.

Best case scenario, and not entirely unlikely based on current rumors, the team gets sold after the draft. Hoffman gets traded at the draft as well.

The new ownership immediately fires the GM and assistant GM and spends the summer looking for replacements. New ownership itself negotiates a long-term deal directly with Karlsson showing that they want/need to keep him around.

Outside of these things happening, I feel as though Ottawa is doomed next year. Fans aren't going to come out to support this circus. Hopefully Eugene finally sees the writing on the wall and does what's best for everybody (including his own wallet).

No real way to salvage this.

Yep, he knew, karlsson never wants to see him again.

He didn't know, his name is being dragged through the mud, he'll likely be very upset wtih karlsson. Karlsson likely will never truly beielve such a story anyway.

This is somehow all a mistake and his fiance is innocent: He never wants to deal with karlsson again.

- david22

its just not a good look for everyone involved not named the Karlssons.

If Hoffman knew and brushed it off, if the Sens knew and didnt do anything about it, now it has escalated to a public opinion out cry.

NO other way is to ship hoffman out and who knows what EK feels if it is true if the Sens did knew and they did nothing about it. That has to be a sour taste in his mouth too

Or maybe the story is "fairly open" because Karlsson's wife filed an application for an order of protection against Hoffman's fiancee.

But your take sounds more plausible.

his makes more sense

also it wasnt a hockey media person that put it out.. it was a crime reporter (Shaamini Yogaretnam)

What would a teams options be in such a scenario? Say when they find out three moths ago.

Work on a way to resolve it by getting one or both out of town. You may not be able to make the trade if it goes beyond the trade deadline.

But if Sens knew months ago, they could have been working on finding a trade partner even during the playoffs so you can pull the trigger as soon as you are able to.

It just looks bad if they knew and sat idle by...didnt investigate, didnt want to resolve it. That would just be incompetence on how to handle serious allegations

Players get cheated on while away and the wives know about it, I'm sure there are rumors, but being a human and in a relationship usually means you trust that person.

Who knows, she could be completely crazy when he's away and when he's around shes a sweetheart. We don't know.

All I'm saying is that if Hoffman says he didn't know anything, we should trust him until proven otherwise.

I agree, if the Sens knew and did nothing it's bad.

But trading Hoffman doesn't really address the core issue, if she's using the internet to harass her.

I wonder what would happen if the Sens did that, and she started doing this to another players partner on the next team he was traded to.

It doesnt resolve that, you are correct, but you do what you can as an org to separate the 2 and show EK that you are willing to do whatever you can to protect his family's best interest.

could be reading in between the lines, but if the team that wants to resign you didnt do anything if personal issues are happening bc of another players significant other and had to take this to the point of a restraining order and make it public...are you really jonesing to resign with them in a few weeks from now.

Contract extensions are probably the last thing on his mind at the moment

If you believe reports the entire organization new about, a did former players of teh Senators.

But yet, mike Hoffman was the only one that didnt know...

- ImThatGuy

I love the condescension here while not actually even understanding the evidence you’ve given

The organization, players wives etc know about the accusation, none of them know unequivocally that she did it.
And Same for Hoffman. He never said he didn’t know about the accusation. Whether he knows or not if she actually did it isn’t something we can answer at present

The players wives say there’s background information that they believe makes this plausible. Which is fine. And I believe them.

But again, I wasn’t defending Hoffman’s girl per se. I was asking questions about the details of the situation. None of which you’ve clarified because you misunderstand the difference between knowledge of the accusation and knowledge of the perpetrator

I feel like Hoffman isn't the issue here, it's his GF (if she is truly the one doing all of this), So getting rid of Hoffman isn't going to do anything other than piss off Hoffman's GF more and it will likely continue.

Best thing they can do to protect Karlsson and his family is get her out of the situation.

Again if Hoffman dumps her, that just show Karlsson that Hoffman would rather be friends a good team mate, then going along with this craziness. Kind of a "Bros before Hoes" mentality. It' sounds dumb but those types of bonds are strong.

Laugh all you want. When the story comes out, there will be a reason why she did it. Not that any of you dummies would ever suck up your pride and admit that not only that you are wrong but there are multiple ways of viewing things besides your own point of view.

I can guarantee you she isnt doing this because she thinks it is fun. She has a reason and whether you agree with the reason or not is not relevant. Even now we are still assuming it was her. If it isnt every post here is irrelevant.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Oh I am quite sure she has a reason.

I am equally sure that none of us are going to think her "reason" in any way justifies the things that have allegedly been said.

Hoffman's agent: "What we’ve indicated to (GM Dorion) is that, and let’s call a spade a spade, it would be very difficult for both parties — both Erik and Mike as well as the wives and the fiancées — to co-exist in the same wives’ room and the same dressing room."

If Hoffmans agent is saying its difficult for Mike and Erik to co-exist in teh same dressing room.... this creates a huge divide with that sort of locker room tension...bros before hoes, its beyond that. Hoffman is now part of the story and situation, so he is the problem as it leaks into the lockeroom.

I think he's more saying that "lets call a spade a spade" meaning it doesn't matter, public opinion of Hoffman now (rightly or wrongly) is what it is and that tension will now be brought into the wives room and the dressing room.

Again if the allegations are correct, it was Hoffman's gf not Hoffman. Take her out of the picture and then work on rebuilding the relationships on this team and work on the bigger picture.

he publicly backed her already saying they are a 100% false, there is no coming back from that.

OH sorry EK, I called your wife a liar saying her allegations were false about my fiancee cyber bullying about your dead son, my bad, lets just get back to winning championships...that aint happening

No I wouldn't. But given his career is on the line. at the very least. I'd be saying "lets take a break until this is sorted out"

For all we know right now, she could be here in Ottawa and he could be off with his buddies. My point is that we need to keep in mind that it's Hoffman's gf not Hoffman

That still remains to be seen if he's oblivious or a willing participant in all of this despicable behaviour.

Both will be traded with their values never being lower.
