“Recently, the ownership problems have been solved. Ever since Andrew Barroway took full control, the soap opera has ended. Ice Arizona left, and with them, Don Maloney, and Dave Tippett. Good Lord, Tanner, you really are franking clueless, aren’t you. https://news.hockeyfeed.c...financial-trouble.Coyotes can’t make payroll. They don’t even have a plan to make a plan for an arena."

All fake news. Go read Craig Morgan on Twitter. He is the foremost expert on all things Coyotes here in AZ and I tweeted him this story and he basically called it bs. There were no issues meeting payroll, nor are they as bad off as the Canadian media always portrays. Bill Daly said before the cup final that there are AT LEAST 3 viable options for the new arena. One is downtown (not sure where they'd put it) and two are in the east valley where the arena should have been all along.

Sorry kids, they're not moving to Quebec or anywhere for that matter. 5th largest city in the US, with the fastest growing youth hockey participation in the US. Barroway and CEO Patterson are being quite smart about not popping off to the media about the arena like the idiots of Ice Arizona did....

I certainly don't think Chayka is not respected or disrespected by anyone. In the NHL as a GM, you earn high respect by winning. Interesting that you heap high praise on Chayka, who hasn't won anything but chastise MacLellan who just won a Stanley Cup. Seems as though you value a perceived method more than results.

He thinks that he can do a better job than the GM that just won the Cup and thinks that the GM of his past season's worst Western Conference team has done just about everything right. I think that he needs to make bold statements and predictions (like the Caps missing the playoffs and the Yotes being the best kept secret in the league) so that he can feel smart if/when the results bear out his predictions... and when they don't, he simply dismisses them. The results are only important if they validate him. when they don't, method and advanced stats are more important.

No sh*t. He wrote an entire blog to to brag about himself for calling out the Hall/Larsson trade as one of the worst all time, which everyone knew the second it happend.

How many times can you say they are a team on the rise? I've been hearing you say that for years and they only disappoint. They need more than OEL to show up next year if they want to even be in the playoff conversation.

The biggest reason has been the product on the ice. It's a city if transplants, some of which are avid hockey fans, but loyal to other teams. Attendance numbers were actually at the best in years when the team was going through bankruptcy (and in the playoffs). It's a hard sell to build excitement and bring in new fans when you're in the basement all the time.

I ripped the Coyotes for years through Maloney's horrible management, and a rebuild takes time. I said they were a team on the rise last year, which they were, but then they lost two of their three top D and their goalie for the first half of the season. No team could survive that.

Isn't it sad that re-signing a really good player to a fair market value contract is the greatest moment in franchise history... it probably will continue to be with Chayka as GM.

Personally I think it was making it to the Conference finals a few years ago.

You told me your blogs are tongue in cheek so is everything in this one sarcasm? Aside from OEL being the best player Arizona has ever had. That would be true and he's a tremendous player.

Also, I totally thought the blog would be about how the Coyotes are no longer the laughing stock of the NHL since Ottawa takes the title by a country mile now.
