Aaron Dell is a 29 year old career minor leaguer/back-up...I'm good on him. - eichiefs9
Been reading a lot of "why not?" speculation about Lehner. I wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole |

Why not Markstrom? - bgainesDM
Honestly, I forgot he was still in the league. I was thinking of teams that had a goalie pair worthy of losing one. |

Washington and NJ come to mind it was originally thought Schneider and Holtby would move on but both regained their starter roles in playoffs, so grubauer or kinkaid are possibilities. Lou has pulled two guys out of backup spots already so let's see who he gets, he has a track record so I feel confident in his decision |

They have good pieces to improve. They should use almost all of those quality pieces for some D that's not a 7/8 defense type.
A goalie, I hope he doesn't over pay for. Most have already noted, improve the D and the goalie improves.
I would call Nashville and see what they're plans are with either Rinne or Saros with Rinne almost definitely out of reach.
I would kick the tires with NJ about their 2 guys but I still think they're out because they'll want something significant.
I would call in to Washington for Grubauer which sounds like the most likely choice coming from media.
I would also call a team like San Jose and see what they want for a guy like Dell. I know, another back up, unproven but, spend your assets on good D and average goalies become better.
I hope they do not go FA route for an Elliott, not sure if he's a UFA or a Hutton. - brodydog29
Lets also remember the isles (Lou) can use Sorokin as a piece in a trade. While he's under contract in Russia he still has value, and i'd have no problem getting rid of another Snow "pick for the future", in order to fill a hole NOW. |

Yes, I agree. I have a feeling many things are on the trade block..
Off the top of my head, I would think Sorokin, Ho-Sang, Dal Colle, Aho, any one of the picks, Nelson, Pelech and Mayfield are probably to be had.
If they want good D, they have to package. I would think the right goalie could be a pick and a lesser guy like Mayfield |

Well, there's been a lot of speculation that Demko would be ready for next year. they know they're rebuilding so they would wanna perhaps give him as many games as possible. Marky on the other hand should be traded by them given that they probably won't keep him after 2 years. |

He's got a partial NTC and a full-NMC, I doubt he's gonna waive it to go to a team in our position. I'm not so confident Saros isn't a product of playing behind the best top-to-bottom defense in the entire league either. He's small. - eichiefs9
No way any player turns the Isles down with Lou in charge chief. |

Why? I think he's got some potential. He's played goalie for two utterly putrid teams. If the Islanders can patch up the blueline a little I'm not so sure he won't end up being a good goaltender. Not saying he's gonna light the world on fire, but I like him more than most of the other obvious options out there, save for Grubauer. |

I mean, yeah...that is a major selling point and certainly paints the organization in a better light. But Rinne is 35 and plays for a powerhouse, Cup-contender team. I doubt he's waiving to come here and hope that Lou can accelerate the retooling. |

Gotcha chief. Isles will do much better with attracting players, but I can understand someone like Rinne not coming. To be honest, I'm looking for a younger goalie. |

Im with you on Rinne.......great goalie, but how many years does he have left. Its like trading for Hank now. I'd rather someone younger who can really hold it down for years to come. To me, Grubaeur makes the most sense. |

I rather stay away from the Rinne's Hank's and Price goalies. Someone in the age range and talent of Grubaeur. |

Funny as hell. Stape Dracula was pretty funny too. |

sadly, likely true. He was a top pick league-wide on draft boards. A so-called can't miss. Well, this is why you never do know in the end. |

I mean we don’t actually know where he was on who’s radar. All we know is Garth’s had 4 years in a row of top 5 picks and none of them are on the islanders. That simply cannot happen.
Also, let me add that for YEARS I’ve had issue with the fact that the isles had needs and those needs were overlooked based on who they thought was the best player available. When you have 37 centermen in the organization, If the next (best) available player in the draft is a center, then you trade that pick and address the horrific backend and goaltending |
