In retrospect though, Beaulieu's pick wasn't that bad. Guy is having a career in the NHL despite being only a third pairing guy.

Unlike McCarron, Tinordi and Leblanc for example.

He made a bunch of good picks, I just find it funny because I remember reading 2 or 3 comments (at least) of how poor he is at his job...

Or perhaps in some cases he needed it? I know that Leblanc wasn't his pick, so in that case he would've done better

Oh for sure.

But he's not the worst pick out there.

Hell when he was drafted, I was pretty hyped he fell to the Habs. Didn't pan out as planned.

William Karlsson and Nikita Kucherov in the 2nd round that year. Vincent Trocheck in the 3rd round.

I guess a lot teams missed out as well right there.

Aside from the David Fischer and Louis Leblanc pick, I am not aware of how much GM interference there was.

And the bolded is inexcusable.

Hard to question the Beaulieu pick. He was ranked very high, had amazing "tools" and played on a super team that helped hide his flaws. Not their fault they found out later that he was a simpleton.
