If the Hawks are lucky and draft Wahlstrom at #8, then assuming they keep #27, who do they draft next?

Dellandrea, Sandin or Miller?

- DarthKane

Sound choices, anyone of these three would be really nice, but I think they will be all gone shortly before 27th. Not considering positional needs, I would mention Berggren, Lundeström, McIsaac, Woo and I like Groulx a lot. Maybe Lauko and Foudy too. I am sure everyone has their favorites, though (have seen Merkley mentioned by many). Either way, keep the pick unless it is an offer you can't refuse. Make this one count.

Damn right. 4 million dollar 25 yo center. All over that poop. Does Carolina need wingers? Not sure their depth down the middle.
- kwolf68

They need everything.

I'll say it again, as I do once a week. Why does this board want all the players from Carolina when they aren't even a playoff team

I think it's more about the scenario in Carolina, they seem to want to strip down their team with the exception of a couple guys. Plus they have a few decent guys that would help for 1-2 years but wouldn't interfere with re-signing Schmaltz and DeBrincat.

Ottawa fits the bill too, especially in light of recent event. I've read that the Sens want to tear down everything and start again. Maybe they would be good trading partners, I think they'd be a logical home for Hossa.

To Ottawa:

- Anisimov
- #27 overall in 2018
- Hossa
- Forsling
- Duclair

To Chicago:
- Stone (re-sign for 6 years @ $6 - $7 million AAV)
- Pyatt

Now...back to drinking

Agreed

I rarely visit the front of Draft which displays my "final updated mock", and I am. here for the last day yakking away in print, saying this and that...and the board the develop has showing is from a month or so ago...

Still trying to decide which of the"golden defenseman" drops from the pack...and hangs past slot 7...

does the long time girlfriend go for awareness training with Kaner, and Shawzie?
Subtracted a starting big centre, with reservation hard shooting Ford Ejdsell is best at centre...
Gotta say I like the trade if you gets a Tavares too...oops, no fit now with Stone's bones...

I posted this elsewhere.....Scott Darling was arguably the worst goalie playing consistently in the NHL last year. So, naturally, Stanley Bowman is interested.
- EnzoD

This Carolina rumor trade is just talk between 2 teams doubt anything will happen. Do the hawks need faulk yes but not at the expense of saad and the more I think about darling potentially coming back and I was one intrigued about it but more I think about it no still like Forsberg and his potential give him an actual d core in front of him and see what he can do and Q stop messing with him. It will be an interesting week in half going forward. Still think hawks should go with a full rebuild.

Listened to this podcast..."With Jacob Trouba's contract being a problem a couple of years ago, how will negotiations play out between the Jets and the restricted free agent this time around? What kind of deal will Winnipeg look to give pending RFA Connor Hellebuyck? "

I simply love that teams who are close (ore nit even close) start facing the realities of the Salary Cap before winning...no matter what the haters say (example: I miss my TT chubby) it IS remarkable the Hawks were able to exortise correct enough to re-set for three Cups.

Imagine if it WAS a baseball type cap system...
Buff would have had time to develop as a backline (as he STILL is trying to do)and also would have been thrown up front to shake the cobwebs out of the smaller Sedin clones across the league.

Ladd would have be signed and provide security up and down the LW.
Andrew Shaw would still be slamming his head through every wall insight and starting every sentence with F...

Hammer and van Riesmdyk would be causing discussions of when the young will get their chance, and Nick Leddy would be on the job training to get better in his end,
...because they all are NHL ready candidates to replace them (cough)

Saad would never have been traded...just overpaid.

Frolik would still b e killing penalties...

and the biggest paired with Buff, Panarin would still be receiving Kane's East-West pass for the one timer...

You and every NHL GM. With a dearth of centerman, an a seeming abundance of highly rated Dmen someone would seemingly, probably, fall. Add Merkley into the equation and the apple cart might get turned over early ........Once a fan in the the top half of the 1st rd gets over the anxiety of it all it's fun.

Faulk hasn't ever more than a plus one ONE NHL SEASON.... he is MINUS 84 the last five seasons in Carolina.
Someone tell that was all someone else's fault. My point is if you are looking for help for the PP it better come from an all-around defender, and one who is cost effective if he craps the bed.(Murphy for Hammer cough)
Granted, Faulk is the captain there, and that counts for a significant part of the attractiveness, but you think a change of scenery changes everything?

think Oilers are not interested if the trade 'just involves taking Scott Darling/

that gives me a possible solution to their pulling their "#1" and having a big wall to sub with..

Aside; It is cooler in here in Texas at night and the morning but I much prefer humid to 12 plus degrees of hot...

After watching Carbomb's latest video, can't really blame Toews if he is trying to play a style to protect his head.

lol!

all Ottawa wingers must look alike to me!

You think they ae keeping BOTH players embroiled in that dispute?

Stone would have to be number one exit if Karlsson isn't packaged...

I am not trying to undermine the condition, but if you are fighter, hard checker, does that kinda up the odds you have post concussion symptoms more readily?

The Jets still without a cup can feel the heat of cap hell calling. In hindsight a great problem to have but this is a very very important time for that organIzation. Will they handle their enviable situation like StanBow and Shovel Face did or the way Stevie Y did down in Tampa where they not only held to their guns with a Stamkos but added a 1st pairing Dman in Sergachev.

Trouba for the Hawks' 8th? Trouba, their 2nd for any Hawk D prospect not named Jokiharju and the Hawks' 27th?

Yeah, he admits that and the fact that he inflicted TBI on other players in the video. He knows it's partly the style of game, but he also mentions 3+ concussions leading to 80% higher chance of early onset dementia, etc., so for players like Crosby and Toews, it has to be a concern.

With the new owner giving the new GM a mandate to shake the thing up we'll hear a lot of rumors coming out of the confederecy. .... A few players on that roster that can help most any NHL team.

As for Kane (and for that matter, Toews) not playing in the summer pro league, I wonder if the agent and team stepped in and said, "nope." Could imagine that the two of them have a clause in those big contracts that they can't lend their skills and name to another for profit sports league.

I have 2 thoughts watching Ovi and the Caps party with the cup.

1. I am happy for them climbing the highest mountain and suceeding.
2. There is going to be one heck of a Stanley Cup hangover..

The guy who welcomed the name Car Bomb says he played in the NHL for the memories? As Car Bomb he says if he was given all the info would have quit the NHL but says it hurts his ego to have his head tested?........ Has any NHL player younger than 25-30 quit the NHL over concerns about concussions?

"Car Bomb" and every NHL player loves the sport but loves the money as much or more, same with the owners. The most easy and simple 1st step fix to this problem is to widen the rink to 100 ft like the international surface or play 4 men aside allowing more surface to evade hits. Neither will happen cuz widening the surface takes out 3-4 rows on each side and playing with 4 aside means smaller rosters.

So it is the MONEY that stops the owners AND players from the 1st step of a concussion fix.

Incredible video. Hockey is a violent game. We see the cheap BS stuff all the time to include the head hunting. You can reign that stuff in by eliminating fighting and by handing out legit suspensions for the blows to the head. 25 game minimums to start with. Must make the penalty legit or nobody will care.

Going back to Toews and how he used to play. I get it. Im sure the guy has had his bell rung more times then I can count. NHLPA needs to bargain with the NHL for a contract out clause if guys want to retire due to medical issues like repeat head injuries. Pro athletes (especially hockey and football players) pay a huge price for their profession.

An out clause would be a good thing as long as it was at the option of the player. Guys would be getting launched left and right if it was up to the team.

I also think the percentage of players affected is higher in the NFL because guys get hit every play all game long.

I'm just amazed that hockey doesn't restrict the use of ballistic plastic in shoulder and elbow pads. Equipment companies will adapt but only if they have to. And the equipment needs to change immediately. Until it does concussions are going to happen on a wide spread basis just by accident. The NHL has the leverage to effect this change and it wouldn't cost them much at all. In my mind, until they try to do this they are not taking the subject serious.
