FWIW, Eklund reporting the Isles are interested in moving both of their #1 picks for a goalie. Would you trade Crawford for the two #1's?
- AEL_Fox

Price or crawford if healthy crawford 27th pick and hino/duclair for 11th and 12th picks

Carry over from the previous blog:

Why? Cuz he has size and plays center? ....... Knowing the Hawks if Wahlstrom is available they grab him. As skilled as any player in this draft and the Hawks love skill/speed guys.

No problem with the Finn (a center with size and IQ), Wahlstrom or Hughes.

Re: Jesperi Kotkaniemi why?

From Pronman’s Athletic piece:

Kotkaniemi has a lot of desirable elements. He has very good hands that are high-end, if not flashing elite. He can make very skilled plays off an entry, but what impresses me is how well he can control the puck and keep plays alive. With his frame and skill, it’s very hard to strip him of possession. He is also a very smart playmaker. Kotkaniemi sees the ice very well and can be the primary guy to set up along the wall on a power play and move the puck around. He understands how to create chances and isn’t afraid to attempt difficult plays. He prefers to make plays, but when he does shoot, I’ve liked his finishing touch. His skating isn’t amazing, but when I’ve seen him, his speed looks fine but his stride is a bit awkward. Defensively he’ll need to improve, like every young player, but I think he’s reasonably fine in that area and has shown he can be relied on at evens as a 17-year-old versus men. He has the best shot of any prospect in this draft class to be a No. 1 center.

If we’re considering this, not sure Rocky’s comment helps:

"We're not going to have a knee-jerk reaction," Wirtz said. "You can't let your emotions be in control." Crawford "tells me he's okay. We'll see."

Between Q, Stan and now Rocky there is an obvious info problem. You are dead on correct. Saying that, Rocky throws mixed signals to everyone and puts CC health in question in the event the Hawks attempt to move him. And yes I know every team does a medical check before making trades official. Makes you wonder if McD talked Rocky into one more year of the Q-n-Stan Show...

Rest assured nobody is ever called on to pay a price for all these one sided disaster trades for the Hawks. That's why they have continued to keep coming one after another. Now let's hear from the appointed apologists once again.

Thanks for posting that link walleyeb1, maybe one of us should send this part to Rocky:

“I’m really appreciative,” Kempny said. “Especially [because of] those bad days in Chicago. I didn’t know what to do. I lost completely my confidence."

Made me want to throw up.
Time to give Q (and Stan, Ulf and Dineen) their tickets out of town.

According to Waddell, Scott Darling came into training camp last year 20lbs heavier than he did in Chicago the year before.

They're going to work with him, but they aren't going to have much patience moving forward.

The Kempny issue is Q in a bottle. That being everything that is wrong with him. Cant think outside the box. Kempny like Weise, Daley and others that have come here, are misused. A good coaching staff finds ways to maximize the roster. Instead they are shoved into the Q mold. If they dont fit they get dog housed. Good god look at how Q jacked up the Vermette thing when he was traded for. And the way Q handled the 2016 playoffs with the newly arrived guys. On and on.

They all need to go. But only after the team train wrecks and are in last place come January. Time to get back to good old fashioned hard nosed hockey. Own your net. Clear the crease. Hammer on the forecheck. Have an identity.

I believe there is a reason he answered that way and it aligns with some of the thoughts regarding his health issue--if you've followed things closely.

Yes it has been pretty simple to see of late where the biggest problem on the HAWKS exists ,and that is behind the bench . I hope Rocky words indicate Q is on a Savard type lease come Oct .He should have been let go after the Draft stunt last year , instead he was given a chance to drive out one of the HAWKS better defenseman again .

Thing is Walleye "most" Hawk fans didn't need this piece to know what it said but I do like it. Head up, can skate, will hit, can help in the Ozone, few hundred pro games, 900k cap hit. What's not to like? Don't need a scouts eye to see this.

Maybe if Rocky reads enough of these, he won't from Chicago media, and makes some changes a Hawk fan might begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel. And to stay redundant whomever plays 1LW, 2 LW, 2C, 3C, 3rd pair D won't matter much and this piece shows the reason why. Can't have a GM and coach not only not on the same page but in different libraries!! .......

Love how Trotz covers for Q saying we play a different system then goes on to say Kempny finds holes and fills them getting great looks, moves the puck, strong skater (no Q don't dig those things).

Also love that the writer mentions Daley too and that the Hawks may have added the missing element to the last 2 cup teams. But like most have said after Kempny went thru the "Hawk experience" it's amazing they got a 3rd for him.

“The trade probably saved me,” Kempny said. “When you don’t play 13 games in a row, you just work out and skate, you don’t feel like a part of the team. I felt like the last warm body on the bench. You feel like nothing.”

I've stopped blaming StanBow, Q and McD awhile back now. We know what they are and they aren't gonna change their spots. This is all on Rocky as the tip of the organIzational pyramid. .........

He has a non hockey guy as prez who's one and only job is to extract every nickel from the fan and simply not equipped to make a hockey managerial decision so Rocky has no choice but to suck his own thumb.

For #3, is Strohs supposed to be Hinostroza? Someone else? Just curious.

If the Hawks are serious about moving Crawford, I say trade him to the Islanders for both of their #1's and then talk to the Hurricanes about getting Darling back.
- AEL_Fox

What possibly makes you think that the Islanders would trade the 11th and 12th picks for a 33 year old Crawford who has a history of concussions, and hasn't played since last December? Another delusionary Hawks' fan.

Rocky attends or TV watches almost every Hawks' game, so I don't think Rocky needed that article to know that Q mishandled Kempny. (As well as Daley, Weise, Vermette, and others.) It's just another reason Q is on a short leash, which is apparent from Rocky's quote. Colliton is already on deck as the next Hawks' coach, sooner rather than later. And since Scotty Bowman is up in years and no longer actively involved with the Hawks, Stanbo better hit in the draft and on any trades, or he'll be gone soon as well.

It's good for Kempny that he he is feeling confident. He needed a change of scenery which is why I think the trade was a win-win. Hawks get a draft pick for a guy who was struggling to find his role in their system and was going to be UFA and the caps get a guy who is plugging a hole in their D.

I think some folks are going to go overboard cite that Q didn't give him a chance, but he got more than 80 games with the Hawks in just under 2 seasons. He had some good games and some bad ones. Not every player is going to fit with every team/system/coach. This article as written only tells one side of a story. A lot of the rest is filled with assumptions based on the questions the interviewer asked and what the editor chooses to include.

In the end this is a feel good story for Kempny because the Capitals are a team that is peaking at the moment. Great for him that he gets to play for the cup this season. I'm sure Kempny would be fine playing with John Carlsson on most teams.
