The Carolina Hurricanes Do Not Want The Hossa Contract for (frank)s sake.
- BINGO!

And no one wants Darling and his obese contract.

Everyone here female doges about Stan and his obese contracts, why in the world would you want Darlings?

One of those silly hockey rumor "insider" accounts. Great for entertainment but has pointed out smoke in the past. Figured a little more discussion outside of, to some, future HOFer Michal Kempny wouldn't hurt anybody in the dog days of June. Would anybody accept this trade? I really don't think I would. Fun to ponder though.

*BREAKING NHL NEWS*:

IF the Habs offer is rejected by the Oilers they will turn their attention to the Hawks. The Habs are willing to offer Galchenyuk+Pacioretty+Fucale+3rd overall for Toews+8th overall. It would be a HUGE deal. Toews would have to waive NMC as well."

- Trammelt

If this is even remotely a possibility I say heck yes. And I don't even like Galchenyuk.

And don't forget McDonough's dislike of Crawford. This past winter's issues may have been the last straw.

I don't even care that he was traded...I care that he was a capable and quality asset completely misused and mismanaged by the coaching staff. His recent quotes say it all about Q + Ulf's failures with Kempny (and Daley).

Time and time again whether by the coaching staff or General Manager, this team has been terribly managed ever since 2015. The list of errors is so long that there is NO surprise that Rocky Wirtz publicly threatened the job security of Bowman and Quenneville. There is no subtlety to Rocky Wirtz's interview earlier this week. He has seen the ugly results and like many on this board, he doesn't view them as acceptable. Bowman hasn't drafted a good NHL Dman in 10 years and the best one he drafted in 2010, Stephen Johns, he gifted to a Division Rival. Bowman has overpaid every single "Core" player with the exception of Hjallmarsson, and the "illegal" contracts of Hossa+Keith. Combining Bowman's lack of drafting, trading and contract negotiation skills with Quenneville's stubbornness and lack of adjustment in system/usage of players and you have a last place team.

As I said months ago, when Stan Bowman is fired, I will stop complaining about the moves he has made to tank this once great team built primarily on the drafting of his predecessors. Until Q is replaced it is more than fair to question the absurdity of Kempny not being able to crack the Top 6D for the worst team in the Central Division, but being a staple at 4D for the likely Cup Champions (same story different year with Trevor Daley).

With better drafting, cap management, contract negotiation, and trading ability, the Hawks SHOULD have had a Detroit-esque run of many many years in the playoffs and ENTERTAINING HOCKEY. They Hawks were terrible to watch and if they didnt have Patrick Kane I probably wouldn't watch 80 games like I did this year. Instead, they nosedived into the basement, with very little reason to expect much different results next season. Same coaching staff, same GM, and essentially the same players (we will see what, if any, "big changes" are made)...why would you expect a miraculous climb back to Cup Contention?

Every person who comes to this site in (frank)ing June is a die-hard Hawks fan. They watch almost every game, and spend thousands on tickets and merchandise. IMO it is very fair and well within their rights to voice grievances towards those who are responsible for icing a garbage product and generally failing at their job duties for 3 seasons.

Eh, not exactly. While yes there have been missteps by management and coaching, the drafting has been nowhere near as bad as often characterized and produced NHL players.

Yes some of the contracts have been bad, none worse than Seabrook's; but Kane and Toews inked deals when they were 25 and 26 respectively I believe, so I don't find those as egregious as some.

The biggest reason (for me anyway) the Hawks path has gone differently than Detroit's is the play of each team's Core players. Lidstrom's play didn't start trailing off at 34. Rafalski was pretty effective til he retired at age ? Datsyuk and Zetterberg were still all star caliber and in Datsyuk's case a perennial Selke candidate well into their 30's vs Toews play diminishing before the age of 30.

The guy plays a simple hard/effective game. Why not. Great guy for that 4th line. Just need Wingels back to center that line.

The #blackhawks have signed forward Andreas Martinsen to a 1-year extension.

I heard a while back and commented about Martinsen here on the blog as a guy they were looking at bringing back.

He impressed with his play in Rockford since being acquired and his fast, physical style when called up with the Hawks.

Definitely a good start! Great 4th line grinder with some scoring potential.

I know people get enamoured with big physical forwards but this guy is an AHL talent. The only reason he was called up was because the Hawks were out of the playoffs. Same goes for Jurco.

If the Hawks were healthy and in playoff contention guys like Martinsen and Jurco shouldn’t see the light of day with the Hawks. I don’t think this signing is a big deal, hopefully Martinsen plays most, if not all, of next season in Rockford. At most he could be a short term call-up / injury replacement.

Some things I think would be cool:

1. Strengthen the blueline

2. If able to improve the defense, move Crow out (because I think it's happening anyway)

3. Bring in Hutton to be #1 and Delia as backup -- with an improved defense, Hutton won't be required to stand on his head every game. He's solid/reliable and can make the saves required to keep you in the game

4. Move Toews and/or Seabrook (Saad, too, why not?) and get some nice pieces back

5. Sign Big John Hayden

6. Re-watch episode 7 of Westworld

Yes and no. When he was up, he was noticeable. As we see, you still need that element in the NHL. I agree Jurco doesn't bring much, but Martinsen does and is a perfect fit on that 4th line.

Just did number 6 last night. That show is amazing! When I heard it was being billed as an eventual replacement in HBO’s lineup for GOT, I thought to myself, who are they kidding.

A season and a half in I have to say it’s pretty spot on.

Oh, man...! My favorite show

A lot going on in episode 7. Wow. Just have this feeling that Teddynator is going to play big (heroic) role in the end.

Can't wait for this weeks episode!

Mine too. Teddy would be interesting but I'm hoping Maeve still factors in. There are a lot of great people on that show but I think Thandie Newton and Ed Harris have been the best...JMO.
