No matter what Kovlchuk does, it will not bode well for NJ...its like a bad penny that keeps coming back.

The Devils kind of suck at drafting and developing goalies. So Cormier will probably get picked up by someone else and end up being a star.

Thanks for Ward NJ!

I would have to think that NJ offered him a new contract. While Calgary is known for being kind of stingy on the money side where coaching contracts are concerned, I am almost positive we must have outbid NJ for his services, unless there is some kind of internal connection I'm not familiar with.

As far as Kovie going to Calgary, although we could use him, I highly doubt it.

Shero said it was a promotion for him. I don't see how, but Ward was still under contract for another season so I highly doubt it was just money.

Really. I didn't know that. So how the hell does that work then. Wouldn't that be like tampering of some kind if the Flames contacted him while still under contract?!

They must have got permission from Shero to make this all happen. And for that to happen I can only think Ward wanted out for some reason, and the Flames caught wind of it and made an offer.

Interesting.. 🤔

When a team is interested in interviewing a coach/front office member, they can talk to the team and ask permission to speak to that person. Shero said he gave permission because it was a promotion. He said he would've said no if it was a lateral move. I'm just not sure how it's a promotion for him (it's probably either money or maybe he'll have more responsibility in Calgary?).

Yeah I guess that's why I'm asking. He's coming on as an associate coach, not an assistant coach. Don't know how that equates to a "promotion"...

Money would be my guess.

NJ asked for permission to talk with Huska sometime over the last couple years and CGY permitted it. Seems like Jersey was returning the favour. And yes, it was a promotion offer to associate coach which is more money and responsibility according to an interview that Peters recently had.

Wish these offseason moves would happen already so we can plan our misery for the next decade of 15-16th overall picks. Happy Sunday.
