I agree with your points and the player is absolutely at fault. Which I said originally. i also believe what else about the the little girl and her father is true

You believe that blaming the little girl for sitting too close and that she seems like the type... makes sense?

Sounds and looks like it was a Security issue that was ignored until it ended up with this:

One more time:

Sounds like security let this situation fester and get out of control:

@puckinHostile

According to source:
"were taunting him and been doing so the entire game to several players. They also did it during games 1 and 2. The girl’s family that brought her was pounding on the glass, calling him a “f%$#@g pu$$y”, threatening to meet him at the bus."

There are about 6 to 7 Stars fans in that section that are total idiots and that section starts the (insert players name) you suck chant. I was at the game last night and totally missed this but I was at game 1 and heard DiDeminco threw a water bottle into the crowd and I missed that as well. As for the pounding on the glass I sat behind the Rockford bench game 2 and was told not to pound on the glass.

Again, like I said, it was both parties fault. Fans shouldn't be taunting, he shouldn't be reacting, etc. My issue was always blaming the little girl in general and saying that she shouldn't be sitting there or that she seems like the type to scream, cry. That was my whole thing.

Doesn't sound like it was racist chanting. Sounds like drunk morons and a player who got frustrated and overreacted. Also, not a young guy, 29 years old and probably should know better.

All the so called violence is just effective marketing. They've got all you guys talking about it right? Typical. You should have been around in the days of the Broad Street Bullies. Hawks had King Kong Korab among others. I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.

what violence are you talking about? the nhl is very hypocritical with there coverage and adds. The best part of Wednesday night rivalry is the trailer of how the game is to be great. After that you might as well turn off the game

Dont lump Melrose in with the other two. You praise a guy who drops the gloves for a tm. Not a stick swinger. Hockey needs to get rid of the instigator
- vandymeer23

I am totally on board with you, I agree, let the players play the game, if one doesn’t like it, let him turn the channel and not watch, if it is too rough for their kids signed them up in a noncontact sport like golf or baseball, I don’t like to see people get hurt either but they are taking all of the contact and good hard hits out of the game, sometimes it goes over a bit, just like baseball with the slides to break up the double play. Back to the instigator, when a guy back in the day crossed a line he knew he would have to answer the bell out there. Now they hide behind that rule. And I know guys like Tom Wilson and Ryan Reeves have no problem answering the bell. And I am an old old hockey guy, and I would have no problem having either of those guys on my team. And if you ask Jonathan Toews, I think he would say the same. Goes back to what I said you don’t like it you don’t have to watch, there’s other sports.

No. Dad who took her to a hockey game and he is heckling or drinking, this is not a good recipe for a little girl to enjoy a social outing. Not like what the Wolves do for kids at the games.
At that game the dad was not a good parental example. Very impressionable kids that age. Common sense...the way most of us raise kids is to not put them in bad surrounding. Which if he or someone else is drunk or heckling, bad things could happen. Even fights in stands or people tripping over things because had too much to drink. I do not even think I take five year old because there can be a lot of swearing and cursing. If you have regular seats and know the neighbors, then it might be more practical. Just go to wolves or take your chances but do no make a fool of yourself drinking and heckling in front of a five year old. Then you drive home under the influence of alcohol. A real winner of a dad, eh. Matters are just compounded when you have a little girl that may be a screamer. Some kids have to outgrown it or need meds.

The little girl was scared but I bet she was over- reacting She had dad and other fans and glass in front of her. Every right to scream but to scream on a few times indicates she MIGHT have traumatized moments. Going with other accounts of fans at the game, this dad may have been doing a poor job raising her. He may actually have some blame for her screaming beyond the heckling at this particular game. Not the first time he has been at games acting this way..

Jfyi according to twitter, the little girl was there with only her mom, so the men in stands are not related to her.

Also this comment is kind of weird in general. The little girl was scared and screamed - it really isn't any deeper than that and it's odd that anyone is psychoanalyzing a kid from a random video on the internet where she is justifiably scared or her parents in how they raise their kid.

The fans heckling were dumb, security was dumb, Dido was dumb, and the little girl has zero fault for being scared and her mom wasn't at fault for happening to sit next to some hecklers.

Who really cares about an AHL tweener at age 29? Yes, he had a big playoffs but that doesn't always translate to NHL success, especially when he's never had NHL success before.

I care way more about the young guys on that team.

- ObeseOprah

Yes, exactly. Dido wasn't likely going to get a shot with the Hawks anyway, so this incident does nothing about his future. He'll either go back to Europe or be a career AHL player.

Speaking of the actual prospects that could have a future in the NHL, I was impressed with how often either Highmore or Johnson was in front of the net during games and especially for goals. They may not have gotten points all the time, but they were constantly providing screens and causing havoc in front of the goalie, which is something the Hawks could have used more of this past season. Hayden is another that didn't get many points but he was a beast most of the playoffs in general. Forsling and Dahlstrom were both good as well, though still trying to find consistency.

If a little girl at the game was made to cry that is disgusting. However, regardless of who was or wasn’t there a player can’t just totally lose his mind like that. He seemed 100% totally out of control.

Nothing is kind of weird. Your account is the first that speaks about a different parental situation. The young girl should be scarred. I don't think majority of young kids - even that young - keep screaming or are again even at that age they understand there is a barrier in the glass and people around her are protection from the stick swinging player. It is not too deep to believe she had the general idea. How would or did your kids would have reacted. Would they have screamed over and over?
I have heard young kids screaming for no apparent reason in Walmart and other shopping for years. I have asked around and usually it is part of their dna and they outgrowing it. Some kids have other issues sometimes in learning or pronouncing certain letters in the alphabet. Yet they outgrow it. Now whether this girl has been subjected to harrowing school shooting, has disability or whatever....I happen to believe more kids would not scream over and over
But due to my examples I can understand it is plausible for a situation to unfold with hecklers and a poor judgment from a player and unfortunate response from the girl.

Look I am not going to seek a professional to psychiatrist analyze this. I might be just annoyed hearing little kids screaming as for many years I was a route guy in stores. There is nothing weird here. Just unfortunate. For all concerned at the game. A black eye on hecklers who get drunk. Life is not fair and Dido did not respond in a way he is proud of.

Let's drop the subject and readers can think whatever they want. I am not criticizing you and we both place blame on hecklers and Dido. To carry this farther means someone has a problem to waste more time thinking and writing about it. I would much prefer hockey commentary.

I'll take a player hitting the glass 100% of the time vs. player jumping into the seats.

Expect the new Seattle franchise to follow the same blueprint. Or thinking logically, wouldn't you think they would want and expect the same? Bettman made this mess.

Honestly this is great the land of misfit hockey players 3 games away from lifting the SC, unbelievable

Imho all playoffs they have been the most responsible with the puck, getting the puck in deep, and constant effort

I know you're right, but I've seen a ton of all star bumholes over the years in the crowd at both the Stadium and the UC that could have used a shoe to the noggin. Other venues as well.

Okay so I just watched the video with sound on for the first time and I realize now you think the wooing is the little girl referenced in the tweet, which it most definitely isn't. That is an adult or at most teenage female fan - I have sound exactly like that when I'm wooing lol. Not that screaming wouldn't have been an acceptable thing for a little girl to do when scared, but that is clearly someone grown up, while the little girl cried. I might DM the video poster just to ask - we apparently follow each other on tumblr (hockey fandom is small).

Here is the tweet showing the girl was there with her mom btw: https://twitter.com/_Mega...tatus/1001571595394211841

But yes, let us move on lol. Talk about actual hockey happenings, anyone?

I hope whatever we do via FA or trade on the back end allows Ostelree and Rutta not to be on this roster.
