the great kerry fraser supports that type of suspension for wilson...how about that

i hope he is right...my gawd the traling ref was looking right at it and it still took a zebra meeting to male the call...and even caught perron's retaliation after ovie drilled him late but ignored that...

although flagrant, cheap, and dirty i kinda doubt he gets suspended...but yep a 5 minute major was clearly in order...

hockey is a great game but the ongoing bush league officiating continues to drag the game down...once again the best of worst McCauley and the other guy can't seem to make a call thats obvious to everyone in the building...

reaves goal should not have counted..blantant cross check int...

Want to hope for something crazy? Reeves and
Wilson hurt each other in a fight and both sit out a few games.

Players and their families make huge commitment of time and expense so that when their kids might happen to play professionally the families are so proud to see a career wiped out by a charging blind side hit?

What, no litigation. So when the injured player returns, logicly he can deduce the penalty for retaliation is not severe.

Mike Milbury, Jeremy Roenick, and Barry Melrose will then heep praise upon the player who retaliates by taking a baseball like hockey stick swing to Wilson's head. An eye for an eye, all is fair in war.....er, um....cough, I mean hockey. Great lesson for our kids. They can go to school and instead of shooting there is attempted beheading and concussions.

Gary Bettman....you bet buddy boy supports this, eh. Maybe this needs to go before Congress and bettman is threatened with jail time. Let us send crimminals to jail. Highly paid to play a game of sport which is the national sport in Canada and popular enough to be a collegiate sport in America, players being paid to be thugs out on the ice....it is a great thing ....RIGHT.

This is not what is meant by good clean physical hockey. Oh is it what sells, Mr Bettman?

One or some of Carlsson, Raddysh, Hillman, Gilbert, Tuulola, and even Svedberg could really surprise in 1-2 years as the steadying defensively sound blueliners the team needs.

- AEL_Fox

Did you mean Dahlström? Svedberg is UFA and 27, I don't expect him to be back.

I really like the Lankinen signing. He could end up not working out, but he could also be the next Euro goalie gem to follow Niemi and Raanta (coincidentally all are Finns) as a possible solid, reliable backup tender.

- AEL_Fox

I like the signing too, but I am curious, where does he rank vs. Delia now? Are they going to share the Hogs net evenly or is one of them going to the ECHL to make room for Bérubé/Forsberg/Glass/another more experienced goalie?

He won't be suspended (wasn't high), but he should be (late & blindside + not being ejected). One game.

Why did the Hawks organization give up on Kempny?

How do 4 guys in stripes miss the Reeves Cross Check directly in front of the net and directly in their line of vision?

nhl tolerates if not promotes vigilante justice and the ref are a huge part of the problem...start calling all the post whistle crosscheks and slashes, maybe just maybe start calling the flagrant stuff with 5 min majors and more game misconducts...and you just might see the tom wilsons and marchands of the world change their ways;

the idiot wilson called that finishing his check; yeah taking a run at a smaller player 60 feet away, drilling in the back and shoulder with the puck 60 feet away...its amazing mars does not have a shoulder separation or worse...sure trotz thought it was a great shoudler on shoulder check

nut the wilson love guys will be here saying we need more guys like thay...

>>>To me, this would be more Corey accepting a trade to get a fresh start in his personal and professional life. And remember, he would have to accept a trade as he has a modified-NTC (where he has to submit a 10-team trade list).<<<

I don't get why crow needs a "fresh start"....

not aware of any issues between him and his teammates, coaches or management. He has been their team MVP for 5 years...

he turned down overtures to be traded last year...it seems he wants to stay...

- bogiedoc

My comment is based on a couple things; some info on his health and personal life + the fact that he is SO valuable to this team and is reasonably priced at $6M/year -- if that makes sense.

As in, why would the Hawks move him? He's been their MVP of recent years and he's not a detriment to their cap situation (especially now that it's looking like it could be $80M).

So if these rumours are true, it there must be a concern with his health/lifestyle vs. making this move to make the team better. A fresh start for both sides might be in play.

However, as JJ mentioned yesterday, why would any team take a chance on Crow if health is a concern.

In conclusion, I don't understand these Crawford rumours.

at this point hawks would have to give him away for some team to take a chance on him....not happening and he has to agree to a trade...

If the Hawks had an actual plan for the goalie position, there would be value in moving Crawford’s 6M. That is a big “if” though. There is an obvious advantage to paying less if can get production. However, the goalie position cannot be a weakness for the Hawks moving forward.

Almost every year for the last three to four years, I feel like we've heard the same rumor about Crawford being traded and nothing comes from it.

It's the nature of the game, however, let's be honest.. Crawford didn't have the question mark about his health before. The partying/ off-ice behavior isn't anything new.. in fact, wasn't there some rumor out there of locker room issues between Crawford and Sharp before? The point is, I would be surprised if any team realistically wants to gamble on Crawford's health for such a significant dollar amount.

It is a stupid rumor, based upon nothing, and not worth repeating. So why repeat it, Justin? Are we that lacking in interesting topics about the Hawks?

Wilson went outside the lines again. However there was another crazy play at the same time that Canadian coverage showed. The puck was thrown up the ice. Ovie skated up the ice. Perron left the bench as a 6th skater to hit Ovie. The other 5 Knights were far from the bench. Perron actually got the worse of the exchange as Ovie looked around saying “where’d you come from?” As Ovie skated away Perron gave him a huge crosscheck blasting Ovie onto the ice. No call - nothing. To the Caps best player. It was ridiculous. 1. Perron can’t just leave the bench. 2. Perron can’t just sucker another player. WTF Refs. Be interesting to see if there is payback to Perron who has always been a little weasel.

I will admit I don’t like the Knights being in the Final. Gallant is an excellent coach but he has taught his team how to interfere, hook, pick and cheap-shot (before and after whistles) and even pull down and trip while seemingly never or rarely being caught. It would be interesting to see how “relentless” the Knights would be if the Refs cracked down on the illegalities. Call 5 penalties in the First Period against them and lets just see how the game goes.

Quite frankly it is hard to get too upset with Wilson, no matter what he does, when the Refs are basically letting Reaves do whatever he wants from holding and mauling players on the ice to ripping their helmets off while NEVER getting a penalty. Goes for Perron, their D-Men and others too. The Knights play as if they think there is no risk that they will actually get a penalty. So to beat the Knights, you must actually beat not only the Knights but the Refs too. Each Ref do your job and just so we’re clear your job is not to ensure an easier path to the Cup for the Knights.

Anything about Crawford is taking on a new dimension if as we kind of expect that he comes back strong. I do not know if personal stuff gets dragged around, but I expect if it is an irritation both Crawford and team will say something, then poof it is water under the table - forgotten

I have commented that a team rebuilding might consider trading him - he is getting on the old side if he is near 36 ,(?) When contract expires. I imagine trying to extract a mid first round or just a first round for him. I imagine, furthermore, we have plenty of emerging signed dmen plus Jokiharju (not yet signed). So I want to give even Gus, too just to get a first round in 2019. That said, have not consulted wiz draft site.com about strength of 2019 draft

Wiz bAck FROM SUSPENSION I think tomorrow or soon this week. He shot down my idea of trading #8 for NYI two early picks #11 & # 12.
Wiz also emphasizes the small quick dman is going to trump everything else meaning the negative aspects like defending against bigger stronger opponent. Wiz shot down my idea of going for Ulfie son as the one big tough mean hombre on defense (I had suggested moving up from #27).

I believe there is good points about how small quick guys on defense are used. Obviously not used properly and poor support by forwards last year. I still do not like over reliance on them. I get pissed if both defenders stand and watch, no engagement physicality. I want one defender in pair to have at least some push back.

I believe wiz is just saying that the dmen early in this draft are special and you have to go after them. Although he predicts Bowman taking the big Finn forward.

Anyone please offer insight how Tuulola looked and Samuelson (another son) skating is ok (?) In just concluded Rockford playoffs. Down 2-0 they made playofg debut and played last three games

Reaves and the entire Knights’ team are being allowed to do whatever they want. Sadly this is seriously affecting the outcome of games. Next Reaves will just crosscheck Holtby or pull Holtby out of the net.
