Can't believe the Knights pulled it off. So a more disciplined hockey team beat a far more talented hockey team. Can't wait for the Bolts/Knights series.

That's fine. I wouldn't attach a pick to move the contract. Sure it makes it more of a dance but the fact the Hawks can use that money doesn't change. Sure its becomes a bit more complicated but that's why Bowman makes the big bucks.

I’ve said many times that you don’t give away any type of real asset to move Hossa’s contract. The Hawks have the money either way. You don’t give real assets away to gain convenience. If another team needs the contract for financial reasons such team gives the Hawks something. The Hawks don’t give, the Hawks receive.

Does anyone have any insight to what the "Future Consideration" will be from Vegas?

Why would a team take Hossa’s contract? Is it to get to the league mimimum in salary. Are there that many teams that are even in that position?

The only reason would be that they only need to pay out 1 mil of the 5 mil cap hit. That would be the only positive I could see. It's actual money savings

How? Like sign Tom Wilson? And if you don't think a draft pick is an asset, then I am glad you aren't the GM.
- TTtime

Yes it is an asset and I should have clarified its an asset not worth nearly as much as 5.35M for the next three years. That cap space is WAY more valuable than a hit or miss #27 pick.

Yes. I think there are still a few teams that would love to make it easier to maintain the cap floor while lowering their actual expenses.

And that's why relegation would not be a bad idea in the NHL: get rid of teams that will never be Cup contenders because they can't / won't spend what it would take to get there.

The Blackhawks have agreed to terms with defenseman Lucas Carlsson on a three-year deal and forward Dominik Kahun, defenseman Darren Raddysh and goalie Kevin Lankinen on two-year deals

Kevin Lankinen had a strong season with Hifk in FEL and lot of their fans think Lankinen is the best goalie they ever had and there have been Tim Thomas and Thomas Vokoun for example. Played only 15 regular season games due to injury but had 1.33 gaa and 0,946 save %. Smart kid and good person too.

Good signings, I’m happy Raddysh got a contract after taking a chance with a one year AHL deal.

I really like Lucas Carlsson. He has tools to become top 4 defenseman in NHL.

I don’t know much about Carlsson other than the Hawks seem high on him and a couple writers too.

Me as well. Carlsson's potential is being Hjalmarsson like. Defensive defenseman with shut down qualities.

Thanks for the signing updates!

I´ve seen him in U20´s and what really stuck me was that he barely lost 1 on 1 battles. He is more of a defensive d but has some offensive instincts and potential too.

How many prospects have they signed - are they now at the limit of 50 contracts which includes the entire organization?

From Toews to L Carlsson? Is Svedberg on a Rockford contract? Signing veteran AHL players to Rockford contracts appears to be the way Bowman wants to go..... because then he surrounds the prospects with not only veteran know how and life experience, but a better, winning culture is a expected. Prospects develop better when the team does not suck.

Now going one step farther....what might logicly be the timetable for some of these prospects until they receive a cup of coffee in the NHL.

I would strongly suggest Bowman hopes Crawford returns healthy. He can trade him to a contender who wants a stronger #2 or Crawford replaces the incumbent. We saw playoff teams crumble and part of it was due to less than expected projection how well their goaltending would be. Nashville is the prime example. Perhaps a bit of grumbling over goaltending in Winnipeg and Washington. Both those teams may feel comfortable with one of their netminders, but to get to the Cup final one last opportunity with the current roster BEFORE expansion. .....need that experience and Crawford is that assurance.

After Crawford I really wonder how soon Seabrook and one or more of the borderline depth offensive dmen can go bye bye. Even Gus, who can be viewed as a weapon in third pair. He is a luxury as a depth offensive puck mover offensive producer because you need extra dmen to survive in the playoffs. Injuries and players playing hurt is a real time issue.

The way I see it, there is prospects galore for the first time ever at the AHL level. Each has a potential spot to fill, initially, if they stick in the NHL.

Carlsson Hillman Gilbert do not play the style as Snuggerud and Dahlstom. If all are second and third pair beginners, they slot as more defensive or more offensive. As more likely to generate a goal scoring opportunity or more likely to defend well and maybe dump an opposing forward upon his derrier.

The compete fill seats save my job goes up to the trade deadline. Then the rebuild starts in earnest. Only maybe 15-20 remaining games before a work stoppage too. More time to determine whom you protect from the expansion draft.

You saw all the deals Vegas made. Although I am still perplexed if there is more to the Kruger trade. Anyway we can guess the direction Stan goes now and at trade deadline. We just do not know whom each of the players he targets for the three fouths part of the season. But that prospect list keeps growing, looking stronger, and is the lifeblood, the blueprint how all successful major sports franchises have operated.

Btw I am uncertain how to classify Rydash,.,..a solid two way dman perhaps per style he plays

Think of it this way. You are a GM. The owner gives you a budget for players salaries of $74 million. The salary cap goes to $80 million. You have $6 mil in cap space you are not going to use. You trade for Hossa's contract and you add only $1 mil per year to your salaries for the next 3 years. You also add a cap hit of $5.275 mil, but you are still under the cap. In exchange you pick up an asset or a few assets. In addition whoever gets his contract will put Hossa on LTIR on day one of the season and can use the cap space for a in-season move.

If I were Stan I would give up a 3rd round pick this year, a 4th next year and a 5th round pick the following year. Of course there could be a million other ways to make this deal work. Maybe just a 2nd next year and nothing else. Maybe a pick and a "b" level prospect. Maybe you build the deal into something bigger with more players, prospects, picks going both ways. (A 1st round pick or "A" list prospect is off the table.)

At the end of the day the team getting Hossa's contract is buying prospects or picks for $1 mil per year for the next 3 years.

At the end of the day the Hawks are getting cap space that they can use during the off season for the next 3 summers (during the busy FA signing period). They do not have to wait for day one of the season to put him on LTIR and use his cap hit.

Watched some of the Titan vs. Pats CHL championship game last night, which featured Noah Dobson.

He looked pretty good, had 3 points. Made a few good stick checks in his own zone, and generally kept calm and won battles in his own zone. He looks pretty solid and I won't be pissed if the Hawks grab him at #8.

First game the Hogs didn’t play that well the Stars blocked a lot of shots and the second game was a lot closer until the refs handed it to the Stars in OT

This is NEVER happening. The Hawks will not give up a real asset to move the contract as LTIR relief exists. If a team desires Hossa’s contract it will give to the Hawks to get it. You don’t give for convenience so the Hawks will never be the giver. Traditionally this type of trade only exists when the other team is trying to artificially make the floor.
