Listening to Elliotte Friedman’s 31 Thoughts Podcast, he days that what he hears is that Sheldon Keefe is not the Rangers’ choice. He mentioned a few names from juniors and Lane Lambert but said he was just spit-balling. If New York is waiting to speak with someone whose exam is still in the playoffs, Todd Reirden would seem to be the one who might be on their radar screen and tops on their list.

I agree Jan that the Rangers coaching choice delay can be due to seeing if the Capitals will allow them to talk with Todd Reirdon. I mentioned him as one of their possible top remaining options first a few blogs ago after Jim Montgomery was hired by Dallas, back then on your May 10th article, "My Take On The Latest On The Rangers Coaching Search". That was due to him being very well interested in, and wanted as first choice after last season by some teams, who in the Sabres & Panthers were both at least known to have been turned down on their official requests to have talks with him.
Reirdon is viewed by many experts as being the best qualified, NHL ready, first time head coach, among former or current NHL assistant coaches. He has also been known to have expressed his great interest to be a head coach in these last two seasons.

If the Caps didn't allow those teams to talk to him, what makes you think they will allow the Rangers access?

Just as per my very last sentence I wrote there, with Reirdon expressing his great interest the last two seasons in becoming a head coach.
But now that will not likely be with the Caps, who prevented the Sabres and Panthers from talking to Reirdon last off season, in the event they would only last as long as 1 or 2 playoff rounds again. Unless not wanting to re-sign a new contract with the Caps, Barry Trotz will most certainly be offered a new deal now, with them finally having reached the E.C. Finals in years. Reirdon was foreseen to be Trotz's favorite to succeed him.
Reirdon was originally an assistant coach for the Penguins, prior to joining the Caps to work with their defensemen for now his 4th season. He has been given big credit for the development of Orlov, Niskanen (a former Penguin), & as well in that of the highest magnitude for John Carlson's success. He even ran their training camp for the prior 2016/17 season, due to Barry Trotz being present then at the World Cup of Hockey.
In the past, the Caps had never stopped their assistant coaches from discussing any possible presented head coaching opportunities from elsewhere. But that was until after last season's, once again, lack of reaching at least the EC Finals. Now that they have, and with the Rangers delay to possibly name a new coach, (if it's indeed due to first trying to get the right to talk to Reirdon), that delay may last even futher until Barry Trotz first decides to remain in Washington or not. Reirdon will greater than likely not remain as an assistant to Trotz in D.C. for another 4 seasons this time around, if that were to be his only role choice he has to be there.

Oh boy, another mob. Yawn.
Seriously, I was wondering what happened. I commented on Winery Dog's post. His post at the top of the page was only half the video, and my comment never came through and only half of the vid.

Better for the Rangers future if Tampa wins. Get me that extra first in 2019.

Hey! You finally got that case correct should Tampa go on to win the Cup this postseason, OR THE FOLLOWING ONE AS WELL. (Don't forget that also).

That would be the best option for Rangers fans for Tampa to win the Cup right now in 2018, in only having to root for them for just for the balance of this postseason, and then not at all for next season, beginning right out of the gate with Regular Season Game #1.

All i did was resize the video. It played just fine too. It did cut off any reply though. Weird that it affected the whole page.

Funny how he was pulled off the first line for game 3 and all of a sudden Tampa has won two straight. There is only one ex Ranger I would be happy to win the cup and that is Danny G...everyone else can fall off a cliff
