Why would we pay $7.5-8 mil for 7 years for a PP1 (on Washington's PP yet) d-man having a career year he likely doesn't replicate? Is that a need or fit or good value? He's nothing special in his career 5v5 and needs PP1 time to even get close to that value. Ghost seems to be doing reasonably okay there. - Mononoke
We have that Provorov guy too who scored 17 times last year |

Carlson is a RHD. But Ghost plays RD and is an even better PP player. I just don't get it; you have limited special teams time. I'd look at someone like de Haan if he's cheap and not much term. |

We have the room for him now and in the future. Bigger RH dman if we can get him for 6 years 7.5 mil I’m ok with it. Ghost is ok there but we have a pp2 unit that was outscored by the pkers they went up against. I realize that’s not Provorov fault but I don’t see why they both can’t play on pp2.
Are you comfortable sitting on your hands waiting for Myers/Morin? How much confidence do you have in them? I have questions. |

I like ghost, but his playoff performance scared the poop out of me. I realize it’s a small sample size but he was atrocious. His average wheels really showed up against the pens. |

6 years x $7.5 mil for a 35-40 point PP2 d-man (which is what he would be) who is no superstar defender 5v5 doesn't feel like a good use of resources to me. I don't think he's worth that even if he was on PP1. I think he's overrated and benefitting from a timely career year. But if you're desperate for a PP d-man, fine. We're not though. Sanheim isn't even sniffing PP time and is clearly our 2nd best PP QB to me. I'd prefer to just give him time.
And I'm very very fine with Provorov-Ghost/Sanheim-Myers long and short term. Morin doesn't matter as he's a totally different skill-set and a 3rd pair LD. I'm perfectly fine with Gudas in for Myers next year in our top 4, except good ol' Hak will probably cling to MacDonald and Hagg anyway, which is why the backend struggles 5v5, and which is where they actually need to improve (and can but won't).
I don't expect Hextall to pay through the nose for a UFA Carlson in a million years though, so I'm not worried about it. Across the board, I simply don't understand why he's a fit or need at that massive cost. |

Used to have epic 4v4 LAN parties with my friends. We had our own meta with all of the civs that changed over the years. Of course we also ate a bunch of zebra cakes and drank copious amounts mountain dew.
This was a year ago btw.

Giroux was terrible in the playoffs also. The list of really good players who had a poor playoff is long in NHL history. Gostisbehere now has average wheels?

It was actually Gudas who struggled badly last season. MacDonald was solid all season long, and Haag played pretty well for a rookie who was a given a big chunk of tough ice time.
Glad to see the narrative that the Flyers won't do what they should to improve is still alive and breathing.

In a straight line, he does. But he is very shifty laterally. |

So just came across this list of the "Top 15 Worst Philadelphia Flyers Players Ever" (Top Worst, wtf???)
https://www.thesportster....phia-flyers-players-ever/
I get that players like Bryzgalov, Lecavalier, etc. didn't live up to their hype. But how can you put those two, Therien, Svoboda, and Podein on the list when players like Roman Vopat, Pavel Brendl, Stephane Beauregard, Jason Bowen, and Claude Boivin are left off? - jmatchett383
Based on your review I'm not going to waste a second of my life clicking on that |
