Anybody hear this story of blue chip prospect who is addicted to video games

“I really doubt he’s going to make it to the NHL and it’s because of a video game addiction. To the point where his junior general manager told me that they’ve had him go to counseling over it because he’ll play until all hours of the night and into the morning and then he’ll have no energy the next day. He’ll be a write-off."

“I swore that I wouldn’t say the player’s name. But it’s unfortunate. He’s a recent first-round draft pick for a very, very prominent NHL team – will probably never play in the NHL because of a video game addiction.”

Thank god it's not the Canucks!

All we can narrow it down to is a CHL prospect since Friedman mentioned “junior GM”

Evan Bouchard was recently interviewed and was asked about a bad trait that Juolevi had. Evan Bouchard mentioned that Juolevi really liked Video games and would play them all the time.

Your guess is as good as mine.
It came from 2 seperate sources. Fiedman and Jeff Marek.

Maybe Rubotsuv from Philly

But Jeff Marek did say it was a high draft pick

It's Juolevi.

Edit: but that story is a year old, that's why they sent him to Finland.

I hope it’s OJ, video games improve hand eye coordination.

Agreed.

Apparently he has really toned it down this season, which is good.

How do you feel about Pettersson going back to Sweden for another year?

Only other way I could see him not in the lineup is if he himself wants to go back to Sweden.

That would be disappointing. He won basically everything you can as an individual and a team...why bother going back. NHL or AHL if he’s to small / scared.

Not sure where this is coming from but if that’s true it’s pretty alarming. If he isn’t internally motivated to test himself against the best players in the world and would prefer to be sheltered in a league he has outgrown? Well he is a bust

drama queen much? Malkin, Nick Lidstrom, Peter Forsberg, Markus Naslund etc. etc. all stayed in Europe for a couple years before they came over. All busts to be sure!
